[Bug 1908800] Re: Wireless card crashes daily on my XPS 13 9380

2021-12-16 Thread Craig Harding
I updated the firmware for this card from the 00157 to the 00288 version of
firmware:
https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware/tree/master/QCA6174/hw3.0/4.4.1

and it seems to have fixed it but still I get:

ath10k_pci :3a:00.0: failed to install key for vdev 0 peer
MY_AP_MAC_ADDRESS: -110

in my journal and on dmesg. but things seem to not disconnect for me.

[Bug 1912077] [NEW] xfce4 screensaver does not enable on Saver Timout

2021-01-16 Thread Craig Harding
Public bug reported:

xfce4-screensaver started not enabling after the 'Saver Timeout' would
be past. At some point I removed light-locker as per one of comments in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-screensaver/+bug/1875025
as I have having password unlock issues.

To give some background - I did an upgrade from 16.04 to 18.xx and then
to 20.04 LTS.

Ever since then I believe xfce4-screensaver hasn't behaved properly. My
laptop will be idle and it sometimes works (xfce4-screensaver sometimes
enables and sometimes not). I still cannot find when it works and when
it doesn't. I sometimes have to shutdown xfce4-screensaver and restart
it. When I do this and to try and debug this I have been running:

'xfce4-screensaver --no-daemon --debug 2>&1| tee
xfce4-screensaver.debug'.

Attached is that file from the last couple of days.

My xfce4-screensaver options are:
SCREENSAVER tab:
- Enables Screensaver: ON
- Activate screensaver when computer is idle: ON
- Regard the computer as idle: 2min
- Inhibit screensaver for fullscreen applications: ON
LOCK SCREEN tab:
- Enable Lock Screen: OFF

[Bug 1893781] Re: xfce4-screensaver shows desktop and no login screen when waking from suspend

2020-09-10 Thread Craig Harding
I have similar behaviour. When I close lid, it suspends normally. When I
open the lid, I see a glimpse (0.5s to 1.0s duration) of my desktop but
login screen shows up. But the only difference is I get the login screen
show up. I assume the glimpse of the desktop is also a bug but I
couldn't find it through the search. This bug could be related to
1875025:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-screensaver/+bug/1875025/comments/24
as I've turned off the 'Enable Lock Screen' on the screensaver
preferences in the meantime until 1875025 is resolved.

[Bug 1875025] Re: Cannot enter password to unlock session

2020-08-12 Thread Craig Harding
I upgraded from Xubuntu 16.04->18.04 and then 18.04->20.04.1
I get this same behavior when laptop lid is closed and re-opened for new
session. I've temporarily disabled 'Enable Lock Screen' under the Screensaver
Preferences screen as a work around for now. See attached snippet from my
journal log (removing irrelevant entries)..

I do not have xscreensaver installed but light-locker binary is present.

[Bug 185986] Re: WebDAV extremely slow

2012-05-18 Thread Craig Harding
Has there been any thought into looking into this?

I have watched the traffic when thunar (xfce file manager) is very slow
on a webdav2 mount and gets a folder listing. It seems it doesn't just
get the file listing and displays the files, it gets the file listing
and downloads the files as well. Some directories could have MBs of
files in the directory and will slow this process down.

[Bug 896688] [NEW] avahi provides incorrect IP address to pulseaudio

2011-11-26 Thread Craig Harding
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.04
Packages avahi-daemon 0.6.25-1ubuntu6.2

I'm using an airport express with pulse audio and I believe avahi-daemon
is providing/resolving the wrong IP address to pulse audio.

Using the following command,  avahi-browse -r _raop._tcp

I get:

+ eth1 IPv4 00254B09A042@Base Station 09a043  AirTunes Remote Audio
local
= eth1 IPv4 00254B09A042@Base Station 09a043  AirTunes Remote Audio
local
   hostname = [Base-Station-09a043.local]
   address = [169.254.135.173]
   port = [5000]
   txt = ["sf=0x5" "fv=74200.9" "am=AirPort4,107" "vs=101.9" "tp=TCP,UDP"
"vn=65537" "pw=false" "ss=16" "sr=44100" "da=true" "sv=false" "et=0,1" "ek=1"
"cn=0,1" "ch=2" "txtvers=1"]

where the address (169.254.135.173) is incorrect. It should be a
192.168.1.X address which is already assigned to the APEX from the
router using DHCP. I've had to specify the correct IP address to
pulseaudio when I manually load the module_raop_sink module in order for
it to properly stream music to it.

[Bug 659638] [NEW] Suspend freezes computer and does not suspend

2010-10-12 Thread Craig Harding
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from 9.10 and I had no problem closing the lid on my laptop

and it may work, it may not. If it doesn't - it freezes again.

[Bug 585777] Re: Compaq nx6110 needs an alsactl init entry to unmute Headphone Jack Sense

2010-10-01 Thread Craig Harding
This also happens to me. I had 9.10 and initially had the problem but an
update fixed this problem. I'm not sure what update it was.

I now upgraded to 10.04 and the problem is back. I have to use a script
I found to mute the speakers manually every time I plug my headphones
in. Installing gnome-alsamixer does not work for me as I don't have a
'headphone jack sense' option with my sound card. Script to turn off
speakers is below.

#/bin/bash
if [  $(~/bin/hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1f GET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL 0x0 | grep
0x0 | wc -l)  = 1 ];then ~/bin/hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1f
SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL 0x40;
echo 'unmuted';
else
~/bin/hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1f SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL 0x0;
echo "Speakers muted";

[Bug 471154] Re: After upgrade 8.10->9.04 xfce does not control desktop

2010-02-13 Thread Craig Harding
Since this has happened I have added 'xfdesktop' to start in the
'Session and Startup' settings. Since adding this it it obviously worked
but with a delay to start up the desktop and add desktop icons, etc.

I guess an update has fixed this since then because I removed this entry
in the Autostart Applications and restarted and xfdesktop does handle
the desktop.

My files are attached regardless.

[Bug 471154] [NEW] After upgrade 8.10->9.04 xfce does not control desktop

2009-11-02 Thread Craig Harding
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfce4-settings

Before I upgraded to 9.04 (using 8.10) I had desktop background and
icons using xfce. Now upgrading from Xubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 I've lost my
desktop icons.

Looking at similar posts which make me a little different, I'm not
running nautilus and it's not running in the background. So I'm pretty
sure this is not my problem (nautilus taking over my desktop).

Checking my .dmrc file I have:

[Desktop]
Session=xfce

Also, I have 'File/launcher icons' as my selection for 'Icon type' under
the Icons tab in Settings->Desktop.

I've noticed that xfdesktop isn't running as a process and running this
from the commandline brings my desktop background and icons to my
desktop. Is there any reason why it isn't running and how can I change
this behaviour to have xfdesktop run at startup?

[Bug 430832] [NEW] [Jaunty] Upgrade 8.10->9.04: Double click works in xterm but not firefox or gtk application

2009-09-16 Thread Craig Harding
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfree86-driver-synaptics

Since upgrading from 8.10 I've had a few issues with the synaptics
touchpad.

I added SHMConfig support using this method
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad#Enabling%20SHMConfig).

Since then I've been trying for over a day to adjust my touchpad
settings using synclient from the command line. Once thing I have
noticed is that double clicking a word within xterm works ok but doing
the same action in pidgin or firefox does not work. If I triple click a
word, it finally highlights the word but then clicks off the word (as it
should).

If I try to double click on a word in firefox or pidgin, I cannot
highlight that word.

I have used the ubuntu-bug report tool so extra information should be
attached.

[Bug 81767] Re: Suspend to RAM does not work well on HP notebook nx7400 in feisty

2008-12-05 Thread Craig Harding
Most of the time suspend to RAM works for me with Intrepid but randomly
the keyboard and touchpad will not work.

The network and X come back to life and the power button works but
keyboard and touchpad do not. Only resolve is to hard power off.

[Bug 158167] Re: GDM Login fails w/Xen Kernel 2.6.22-14-xen

2008-06-14 Thread Craig Harding
I'm having the same problem. After logging into xfce I receive a warning
dialog window. I believe this problem is from an upgrade of the xserver-
xorg-core package which happened this morning.

uname -a: Linux charding-laptop 2.6.24-18-generic #1 SMP Wed May 28
20:27:26 UTC 2008 i686

After logging into xfce I get the same warning dialog popup. Once I
click OK I get automatically logged out of my session and back to the
login prompt.

The package manager upgraded my xserver-xorg-core package this morning
before I shutdown and rebooted.

Using xubuntu 8.04. Logging into gnome works fine btw.

[Bug 212897] Re: [hardy][xorg] soft lockup, CPU0 stuck for 11s!

2008-05-04 Thread Craig Harding
I also get the same behavior if I leave my laptop idle. I come back to
it and it's frozen and I need to hard reset.

I've attached my syslog. It seems to repeat the lines in my syslog over
and over (approximately 100 times per second) until it freezes. dmesg
does not give any relevant information.

Switching back to the 2.6.22-14-generic kernel does not give me any
issues.

[Bug 109744] Re: playground does not work

2008-01-20 Thread Craig Harding
Has anyone got this to work under XFCE?

I installed it from source using the steps for Gnome on the developers
webpage (which is the same steps as Jonathan Sambrook's steps above) but
I still cannot get it to appear as one of the applications from the
System Tray 'Add New Item' or from another panel.

Any ideas?
