[Bug 1350812] [NEW] Gimp doesn't accept keyboard text entry
Public bug reported: Release: Ubuntu 14.04 fully updated Package: gimp (or possibly a sub-package) and / or ibus Steps to reproduce: 1. Start working in Gimp, generally for a few minutes before the bug appears 2. Save file or export 3. Be unable to name the file in the Save File dialog Workaround: kill ibus-daemon This bug appears to be related to a Chrome / Chromium bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1307648 because the workaround is the same and the two programs are mentioned in the same bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1307648 This really makes Gimp almost impossible to use. [Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates
Travis, I'm surprised that you marked this bug is marked invalid when the upstream bug doesn't actually close the issue, just the proposed solution. In fact, the answer to this problem was proposed in the linked Ubuntu archives: "It's perfectly supported as designed. Put some template in ~/Templates and enjoy. If you want to push it to new users, put it in /etc/skel/Templates and every new user gets them." Yeah. That's all it will take. Create three or four new, empty files, and throw them in /etc/skel. No need for a patch like the one in the Gnome archives. This is an easy fix. It's a bug that bugs new users. Upstream DOESN'T oppose templates, just not ones that the standard user can't remove (like in /usr/share/templates), thus spamming his menu. This is definitely a one-hundred-papercuts bug. Create the files. Otherwise, the "Create Document" menu item should be greyed out when no templates exist in the Templates directory. -- Create Document Templates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 191126] [NEW] Closing pages with Flash9 ends Gnome session
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper In addition to the expected general buggines of using a wrapper for plugins on an architecture they weren't designed for, viewing some pages with Flash (9) in either Epiphany or Firefox causes the entire seesion to end sometimes, killing all working programs. Blech. What a nasty bug. Environment: Ubuntu 7.10 AMD64 up to date Core2 Duo Intel chipset 2GB RAM Steps to reproduce: This seems a little random and hard to reproduce on a single page. Basically, you need to view a large number of Flash video sites. YouTube doesn't seem to work. Go to Digg.com and start looking through all the videos. There are no system slowdowns before the problem occurs. When you close a tab containing "the last straw" video, the session ends and you are thrown into a login at GDM. Any work you had going at the time is lost. Since the crash is apparently random, I suspect that nspluginwrapper is behaving badly and not closing correctly when a tab is closed, ultimately draining enough that the session ends. There are no symptoms leading up to it, though. There is a possibly related problem of the browser freezing. When its killed, several nsviewer.bin windows generally pop up and have to be forcibly killed, as well. ** Affects: nspluginwrapper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Closing pages with Flash9 ends Gnome session https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 90318] Re: Windows workgroups unusable when in Korean
The smbclient man page lists the following: -t terminal code This option tells smbclient how to interpret filenames coming from the remote server. Usually Asian language multibyte UNIX implementa‐ tions use different character sets than SMB/CIFS servers (EUC instead of SJIS for example). Setting this parameter will let smbclient con‐ vert between the UNIX filenames and the SMB filenames correctly. This option has not been seriously tested and may have some prob‐ lems. The terminal codes include CWsjis, CWeuc, CWjis7, CWjis8, CWjunet, CWhex, CWcap. This is not a complete list, check the Samba source code for the complete list. It appears, though, that this is competely different than the client code page setting which I could set to 949 MS-DOS Korean Hangul. I'm not sure that the code page can be set from the client, though. It appears to only be set from within the Samba server. -- Windows workgroups unusable when in Korean https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/90318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 80856] Re: F-Spot as default for importing photos
Agreed that we should choose one or the other. It appears that Ubuntu has made the choice to go with F-Spot, so import should be through F-Spot, as well. There's no need to import photos via GThumb (which isn't even on the menu by default), then import again into F-Spot. It's just confusing for the user. If we choose GThumb, then F-Spot should be removed and GThumb should be added back into the menu. [Bug 139084] Re: Unsafe removal of drives says to "Eject" while context menu says "Unmount"
What's the status on this? The bug is easy to fix. New users remain unable to follow the directions given when unsafely removing a USB drive. I believe you can only unsafely remove an external drive, not a CD (you must software eject that), so changing the "Unsafe removal, please use eject" to "Unsafe removal, please use unmount" should be sufficient to fix the problem. There's no need to be concerned with what will happen if a use unsafely removes a CD, so you don't need to use the word "eject" anywhere in the warning. -- Unsafe removal of drives says to "Eject" while context menu says "Unmount" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/139084 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 178677] Default photo import preferences are for gthumb --import, but F-Spot is the default manager
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome Steps to reproduce: 1) Plug in camera 2) Accept the import 3) Choose location 4) Try to open your newly imported photos with F-Spot, the manager. 5) The imported photos aren't in the manager. The default photo import preferences are for gthumb --import. Gthumb is specifically removed from the main menu on a default install. In order to import photos into F-Spot, the default photo manager for Ubuntu, you have two choices: 1) Import via GThumb when requested to, open F-Spot, then import from the saved location, deleting the first set of photos later; or 2) Cancel the import, open F-Spot, and import the photos manually from the camera.
