[Bug 1845825] [NEW] i2c_designware and i2c_hid failures on shutdown

2019-09-29 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

1. Using Ubuntu 19.10
2. Shutdown system
3. System get stuck at the windows with this messages:

i2c_designware.o: controller timed out
i2c_hid: failed to change power settings.

It might not be related to the shutdown not happening, still that's the
only clue I have.

I attach the screenshot and dmesg output after the following boot.

[Bug 1845795] [NEW] authentication window got stuck over other windows

2019-09-28 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

The "Authentication required" screen appeared while I was changing
software repository settings, but it is stuck there:

1. I can click "cancel" but there is no effect
2. The window is now always on top of any other window, despite the original
Software Repository Settings windows has been closed (actually, terminated
manually)

As you can see in the screenshot, The Firefox windows has focus now as I
am typing in the address bar, but still the "dead" authentication window
is on top.

[Bug 1833435] Re: RFC: Add url/urls/mirrors attribute for product items

2019-07-27 Thread Daniele Rondina
Hi Dan and Stéphane,

thank you very much for the support.

So, what is the solution choice?

Probably, the better choice is `urls` or `mirrors` so it's possible
inside LXD code handle failover with a secondary mirror.

So, for a recap:

Solution a)

{
 "datatype": "image-downloads",
 "updated": "Sat, 04 May 2013 01:58:57 +",
 "content_id": "sabayon:images:download",
 "products": {
  "sabayon:0.1:arm": {
   "arch": "arm",
   "stream": "devel",
   "versions": {
"20190111": {
 "items": {
  "uec.tar.gz": {
   "ftype": "lxc.tar.gz",
   "urls": [
   "http://mymirror.edu/lxd-images/sabayon/myimages.tar.gz;,
   "http://mymirror2.edu/lxd-images/sabayon/myimages.tar.gz;
   ],
   "sha256": "xx",
   "md5": "797e2d488c799eab0a8eb09a9c1ff4a3",
   "size": 7314153
  },
...
}

>From LXD client-side the logic could be that if `urls` is not empty I
get a random entry from url array and I try to fetch image else use path
field as now.

Solution b)

{
 "datatype": "image-downloads",
 "updated": "Sat, 04 May 2013 01:58:57 +",
 "content_id": "sabayon:images:download",
 "products": {
  "sabayon:0.1:arm": {
   "arch": "arm",
   "stream": "devel",
   "versions": {
"20190111": {
 "items": {
  "uec.tar.gz": {
   "ftype": "lxc.tar.gz",
   "path": "/lxd-images/sabayon/myimage.tar.gz",
   "mirrors": [
   "http://mymirror.edu;,
   "http://mymirror2.edu/sabayon/;
   ],
   "sha256": "xx",
   "md5": "797e2d488c799eab0a8eb09a9c1ff4a3",
   "size": 7314153
  },
...
}

With this solution, `mirrors` contains the hostname with an optional
prefix and from LXD client-side if mirrors have values then a random
field of mirrors field is used and value of path field is used for
creating image URL (mirrors[0]+path)

Please, let me know how we want to proceed so I try to push a PR to LXD
project after my holidays.

Thanks again.

[Bug 1822439] [NEW] gnome-control-center bluetooth panel broken with i3

2019-03-30 Thread Daniele Varrazzo
Public bug reported:

piro@makkuro:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Release:18.04

gnome-control-center doesn't display bluetooth adapter when run under i3: the
panel only shows the text:

```
No Bluetooth Found
Plug in a dongle to use Bluetooth.
```

Adapters are correctly displayed if the same user connects with gnome.
Other panels work correctly in i3.

Running the panel from command line, when the tab is selected, the
following log is displayed:

```
piro@makkuro:~$ XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=ubuntu:GNOME gnome-control-center
[Bug 1297437] Re: warning "Application already exists, re-requesting properties"
2019-03-09 Thread Daniele Donatelli
Hello everyone,
I have the same bug:
com.canonical.indicator.application[927]: (process:1132): indicator-
application-service-WARNING **: Application already exists, re-
requesting properties
Distro: Lubuntu 16.04.06, kernel 4.15.0-46-generic.
My laptop often reboots by itself, checking in the logs the indicator-
application is always the last message. May it be the reason of the
unexpected reboots?
[Bug 1811588] Re: Seahorse doesn't show passwords anymore
2019-01-14 Thread Daniele Besana (WP-OK)
Hi Olivier,
Yes, that was it :)
Under "View" I see two categories (Personal / Trusted), but no way to assign
the saved passwords to them.
Is it a bug?
Thanks
[Bug 1811588] [NEW] Seahorse doesn't show passwords anymore
2019-01-13 Thread Daniele Besana (WP-OK)
Public bug reported:
After upgrade to Ubuntu 18.10, Seahorse doesn't show passwords anymore.
Here the behavior:
1. I open seahorse and I see Certificates, GPG keys, secure shell.
2. After ~10 seconds, the Passwords section appears
3. It contains two folders: Login and Default.
4. Both folders are empty and saved passwords are not visible.
I already removed "dbus-user-session" as suggested here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1689825
But it didn't solve.
Thanks
[Bug 1728244] Re: Touchpad stops working after reboot on Apollo Lake
2018-08-23 Thread Daniele Della Rocca
Hi, can anyone explain me how to use the patched kernel of the comment #162 in
linux mint 19? or how can apply the patch and compile the kernel?
I have used the kernel with ubuntu on my yepo 373a and the touchpad worked, but
now i'm trying to do the same thing with linux mint and i'm having no success,
perhaps the system boots with the wrong kernel.
Thanks.
Daniele.
[Bug 1788104] Re: upnp-router-control constantly shows "not available" WAN status and IP
2018-08-21 Thread Daniele Napolitano
Hello @krichter722, thank you for the time spent testing UPnP Router
Control.
First question: is UPnP feature enabled in your router configuration?
If UPnP is enabled and other programs (like Transmission) can open ports
on your router, please run URC from the console in debug mode for give
me more informations:
upnp-router-control --debug
[Bug 1758797] Re: [Ubuntu 18.04] USB Type-C test failed on GLK
2018-04-22 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Everything is still the same BUT now the folder  /sys/class/typec exists
while in comment #11 did not even existed, and that was already with the
.17.18 kernel. Now with .18.19 at least the folder exists. Is also empty
but I can't try connect the monitor now, will do tomorrow morning.
If there's something more I can do to provide info, just let me know.
Thanks.
[Bug 1758797] Re: [Ubuntu 18.04] USB Type-C test failed on GLK
2018-04-20 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Hi. I am having trouble as my USB-C do not send video to DP1.2.
Also, where 17.10 did see the external monitor, 18.04 do not.
See
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1022343/usb-c-video-xiaomi-laptop-to-dell-display-no-signal
 for 17.10 behavior and
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/8cykbd/usbc_to_displayport_video/ for
18.10.
Can this regression/issue be related to this bug?
[Bug 1754792] Re: synaptics driver wont load for touchpad, only evdev
2018-04-08 Thread Daniele Laudani
This will be solved in linux 4.17. There was a patch in January to
enable this device: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10162493
It was merged in the future 4.17:
http://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1804.0/02942.html
So now either we wait for the next kernel or someone at Canonical
decides to backport this patch to supported kernels (it is quite a
simple driver actually, should not be a problem)
[Bug 1762122] [NEW] drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware not working anymore on Ubuntu 18.04
2018-04-08 Thread Daniele Laudani
Public bug reported:
I installed today Ubuntu 18.04. I have a secondary monitor (Acer
AL1914), which does not provide a EDID, so I created one and usually
loaded directly from the kernel at startup.
The EDID is located here:
/lib/firmware/edid/al1914.bin
The kernel command line is this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash
drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=VGA-1:edid/al1914.bin"
On Ubuntu 16.04, this worked perfectly. Now, the additional mode from
the edid is not present among the resolutions available (I have to
create a new one and add it with cvt and xrandr once the system is
loaded).
Interestingly, even though pulseaudio doesn't start and no sound
indicator appears on the system, if I start something using VLC, the
audio works. No sound in the browser or system, only in VLC. I guess
this is due to some bugs in pulseaudio, isn't it?
[Bug 1754792] Re: synaptics driver wont load for touchpad, only evdev
2018-03-30 Thread Daniele Laudani
>From what I understand, the touchpad has a secondary i2c interface used
for advanced multitouch recognition. Using the aforementioned program, I
collected some i2c packets and analyzed them.
here is a screenshot of the app, for reference:
https://imgur.com/a/ZisG5
The packets are 32byte long, like this one:
5D 08 52 B7 99 34 16 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
the first byte is always 5D.
the second byte represents the number of fingers recognized (max. 5) and
eventual clicks in this format:
[x][x][x][x][x][][][c]
the bits marked x are the number of fingers; the c bit indicates if the left
button is pressed. In the example, we have 1000 (0x08), meaning only one
finger and no left clicks.
the next bytes are in sequences of 5 bytes, each sequence representing one
finger (the rest is zero). In the example, only one finger is recognized, so we
only have one sequence of 5 bytes.
This sequence gives us the following information:
[Position] : the position of the finger on the trackpad in x,y coordinates
[H]: this indicates the pressure of the finger
[MK]: I don't know what this means, if you figure out please tell me
The first three bytes of the sequence are the position, but in a strange
format: let's say we have ABCDEF, the x is given by the exadecimal ACD, and the
y by BEF.
In the example: (x, y) = (0x5B7, 0x299) = (1463, 665)
The fourth byte is the MK value (I don't know what this is) in reverse:
we have 34 in the example, so MK = (4,3)
The fifth byte is the pressure H, nothing strange here, just the hex
value
The only problem here is that I don't find the right bus to communicate on
linux, does anyone know if there is any way to get this information from
Windows (e.g. the i2c bus number)? After this is worked out, a driver must be
written, or maybe modify the existing one for elan i2c touchpads.
[Bug 1757344] Re: package php7.1-sqlite3 7.1.15-0ubuntu0.17.10.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 139
2018-03-21 Thread Daniele Cruciani
yes, update-manager, actually I find no real problem, it just fire up this
crash report and I supposed there was some problem so I filled the bug.
package php7.1-sqlite3 is correctly installed.
`dpkg --configure --pending` is silent, no package unconfigured.
So I can not say what is the problem, looking at postinst script I see
php_invoke enmod ... but module was already enabled, I guess.
I do not need assistance, I am just reporting bad ui experience, I
think, close if it is the case
I installed Slack ignoring the dependency and works:
dpkg --ignore-depends libcurl3 -i slack-desktop-3.1.0-amd64.deb
but now every apt operation tell me there's the broken dependency.
worked fine this time.
[Bug 1742482] Re: Double-click doesn't open default application
2018-02-06 Thread Daniele Besana (WP-OK)
** Summary changed:
- Bluefish asks to download files from Nautilus FTP window
+ Double-click doesn't open default application
** Description changed:
  Ubuntu 18.04
  Nautilus 1:3.26.0-0ubuntu1
- Bluefish 2.2.9-1
+ Bluefish 2.2.10
- When I open a file from a FTP server browsed with Nautilus, Bluefish
- asks to download the file instead of open it as it was in the previous
- versions.
+ When I open a .php file from a FTP server browsed with Nautilus, Chrome
+ is opened instead of the default application Bluefish.
  Steps to reproduce:
- 1. Connect to an FTP server via Nautilus
- 2. Open the file with Nautilus
- 3. Nautilus will ask for the download location
+ 1. Connect to an FTP server via Nautilus
+ 2a. Double-click on a .php file: chrome opens and the file is downloaded
+ 2b. Right click and select 'open with' and then Bluefish: the file is opened
in bluefish as expected
- If I try to open the same file with gedit it works well, that's why I
- think is Bluefish bug.
+ So, on the double-click from Nautilus the wrong app (chrome!) is opened
+ even if the .php files are associated with bluefish.
  Thanks
[Bug 1742482] Re: Bluefish asks to download files from Nautilus FTP window
2018-02-05 Thread Daniele Besana
Hello Innocent,
Thank you, I have some more info and they lead to a problem in Nautilus
rather than bluefish.
Here are the updated steps:
1. Connect to an FTP server via Nautilus
2a. Double-click on a .php file: chrome opens and the file is downloaded
2b. Right click and select 'open with' and then Bluefish: the file is opened in
bluefish as expected
So, on the double-click from Nautilus the wrong app (chrome!) is opened
even if the .php files are associated with bluefish.
Can you transfer this bug to nautilus?
Thanks
Daniele
[Bug 1742482] [NEW] Bluefish asks to download files from Nautilus FTP window
2018-01-10 Thread Daniele Besana
Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 18.04
Nautilus 1:3.26.0-0ubuntu1
Bluefish 2.2.9-1
When I open a file from a FTP server browsed with Nautilus, Bluefish
asks to download the file instead of open it as it was in the previous
versions.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect to an FTP server via Nautilus
2. Open the file with Nautilus
3. Nautilus will ask for the download location
If I try to open the same file with gedit it works well, that's why I
think is Bluefish bug.
Thanks
[Bug 1707642] [NEW] Broken systemd unit for gnocchi-api
2017-07-31 Thread Daniele Venzano
Public bug reported:
gnocchi-api is a developer wrapper arount a test server.
The Gnocchi documentation (http://gnocchi.xyz/operating.html) suggests using
Apache WSGI to run it. The Ubuntu packages should contain the Apache
configuration like is done for Keystone and Cinder.
Anyway the systemd unit is broken because gnocchi-api is called with the
wrong options:
Jul 31 14:34:00 bfeb systemd[1]: Started OpenStack Gnocchi Api.
Jul 31 14:34:02 bfeb gnocchi-api[10203]: usage: gnocchi-api [-h] [--port PORT]
too quickly.
Jul 31 14:34:02 bfeb systemd[1]: Failed to start OpenStack Gnocchi Api.
This is Ubuntu Xenial with the Ocata cloud archive for openstack.
[Bug 759103] Re: amazing days out of town
Hi!
We've had an amazing day out of town  this weekend, just take a look at
Subject: NEEDS MORE HATS.
I think a lot of hate comes from people  just not picking it up and
continuing to hold  on to that  feeling. For instance, there's the
whole  section of  playstation gamers who  don't get to play and  so
probably default  to disliking the  game. Then there's the  'problem'
with the  game which I believe there is only  one that is truly fatal
for Titanfall's mass popularity and that is Respawn 'taking out', or not
including some of the rubbish bullshit  that  you see  in modern fps
games, such as lots of weapons, flashy xp  meters and customisation. For
me, I'm glad these are not in  the game but it's sad  that the reason
that rubbish *is* in cod and battlefield is  because it keeps people
playing and that's  really all that tf really needs.
[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on AMD Ryzen / Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3
2017-03-13 Thread Daniele
Dear All,
I had exactly the same situation of post #23. Coming from Kubuntu 16.04, bought
a new system Ryzen 1800x+GA-AB350 Gaming 3.
First boot, using the "old" SSD worked fine, so I decided to upgrade to version
16.10. The procedure goes well, but after the reboot got plenty of error
message "IRQ VECTOR 07".
So I tried with a USB stick and Kubuntu live version 17.04 both beta 1 and
Nightly but got the same error.
The only way to make the system working, is to manually select kernel
4.4.0-64-generic from grub.
I've also tried to install ubuntu kernel 4.10 and 4.11rc1, but I always
get the same error.
Hope this helps
[Bug 1659835] [NEW] missing dependencies in ipopt.pc
2017-01-27 Thread Daniele E. Domenichelli
Public bug reported:
On Ubuntu Yakkety, some of the libraries listed by in ipopt.pc (gfortran
quadmath) from coinor-libipopt-dev (3.11.9-2.1) are not available when
installing the coinor-libipopt-dev package. I think (but I couldn't test
it) that adding libgcc-5-dev and libgfortran-5-dev to the dependencies
this issue might be fixed, but I don't think this is a good solution.
The line responsible is this:
Libs: -L${libdir} -lipopt -ldmumps_seq -lblas  -L/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64
-linux-gnu/5 -L/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5/../../../x86_64-linux-gnu
-L/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5/../../../../lib -L/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu -L/lib/../lib -L/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu -L/usr/lib/../lib
-L/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5/../../.. -llapack -lblas -ldmumps_seq
-ldl -lgfortran -lm -lquadmath -lblas -lm  -ldl
The -L paths point to /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5, but I suppose
that the correct path should be /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/6.
Perhaps the package was compiled with gcc 5 before the migration to gcc
6?
Interesting fact is that the same packages in debian (same exact version
3.11.9-2.1) contains only these libraries.
Libs: -L${libdir} -lipopt -ldmumps_seq -lblas -lblas -lm  -ldl
Also interesting that linking ipopt without -lgfortran and -lquadmath
does not cause any error.
[Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs
2016-11-16 Thread Daniele Cruciani
pwaring I think fix-committed state means that a patch has been committed to
ubuntu repository, then automatic test are run on it and qa, et all, if there
are no regression it will be released.
If things goes bad then a new patch should be committed, and so. (I guess it
works something like this)
I would prefer if maintainer had committed chromium 54, tought
