[Bug 1686631] Re: [Ubuntu-gnome] if an app is uninstalled and has a snap and deb it displays nothing in the overview

2017-04-27 Thread Dave Morley
** Description changed:

  STEPS:
  1. Install ubuntu-gnome 17.04
  2. update it
  3. click on Activities
  4. type krita, blender

  EXPECTED:
I expect to see listed under the gnome-software the option to install one of
the apps

  ACTUAL:
I get a message of No Results

-
This only happens if both the deb and snap are not installed, under wayland
snaps are not recognised at all due to the XDG_DATA_DIRS not listing it.
  Wayland:

/home/davmor2/.local/share/flatpak/exports/share/:/var/lib/flatpak/exports/share/:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/

  X11:

/usr/share/gnome:/home/davmor2/.local/share/flatpak/exports/share/:/var/lib/flatpak/exports/share/:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop
+
+ WORKAROUND:
+ For now both apps appear in gnome-software no problems just not as
suggestions in the overview.

[Bug 1676826] [NEW] 7 digital scope doesn't play audio demos from store

2017-03-28 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. (Currently) install unity-scope-mediascanner2
2. Select the up arrow in the scope window
3. Star the Music scope
4. Add some music to the system both ogg and mp3
5. Play the ogg local music
6. Play the mp3 local music
7. Goto the 7d store and select an album and press play to demo one of the
tracks

EXPECTED:
I expect all of the audio to just work

The ogg plays however the mp3's don't, under unity7 this will trigger a search
for codecs but not in unity8.

WORKAROUND:
sudo apt install media-hub gstreamer1.0-fluendo-mp3 then run
CORE_UBUNTU_MEDIA_SERVICE_VIDEO_SINK_NAME=mirsink
CORE_UBUNTU_MEDIA_SERVICE_AUDIO_SINK_NAME=pulsesink /usr/bin/media-hub-server &

You should now be able to play audio without stuttering or playback
issues both locally and online.

[Bug 1675453] Re: During d-i install of ubuntu-server from mini.iso I get no login prompt

Look like mini.iso/netboot will use plymouth in text mode where the
server.iso does not. So I think that plymouth is not being taken down

plymouth to the bug.

[Bug 1672335] [NEW] Black screen on quartered apps with a 5th overlapping

2017-03-13 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. open the following 5 apps in the deb version of unity8:
mines
thunderbird
firefox
ubuntu-terminal-app
system-settings
2. Open a youtube video in firefox
3. Sign into an email account on thunderbird
4. Start a game of mines
5. tail -f ~/.cache/upstart/unity8.log in terminal
6. Drop these four apps 1 in each corner so you see all four
7. Drop system-settings in the middle over lapping the other four

EXPECTED:
All 5 apps to run without issue

ACTUAL:
One of the apps will randomly trigger a blank window and title bar to overlay
the entire screen. If mines triggers it just displays the title bar no idea why
it is different. Thunderbird and Firefox seem to be the main culprits.

** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

I can't replicate the issue in bug 1664377 using straight upgrades
manual upgrades modifying /etc/apt/sources.list.

I have tried it three different ways and not been able to replicate the
exact circumstances. More info has been requested on the bug and
hopefully we can take it from there

[Bug 1642215] Re: Zesty updating a package that uses dkms is not triggering mokutil and causing aptd to use 100% cpu

2017-01-12 Thread Dave Morley
Mathieu Hey dude I'll keep an eye out for it over the next few days but
it normally kicks in with driver updates that request dkms and I've not
had one of those for a while.

[Bug 1651119] [NEW] Wifi connect to ap has the wrong page title

2016-12-19 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Boot Ubuntu Core 2.20 on a system that supports wifi
2. Run through console conf till you get to the network page
3. Tap wlan0
4. Tap on wifi settings
5. Title of the page is Network interface wlan0 manual IPv4 configuration

Expected:
I expect the page to be titled something like wifi setting or access point
login or something similar as I may wish to use auto as a connection method
which I obviously can't use in manual mode :)

ACTUAL:
You are put into a page named manual ipv4 configuration, I would not expect to
see that unless I went to manually configure IPv4

[Bug 1643930] [NEW] Final page of console-conf is a little misleading

2016-11-22 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Build latest edge for pc
2. Run a kvm instance with the build image
3. Run through console-conf

EXPECTED:
A nicely worded clear to under stand for anyone page explaining next steps for
a user

ACTUAL:
You are presented with a bunch of random words and numbers and then told
Pressing enter after setting a password will allow you to login here this makes
it seem like like you can add a password in that screen and then hit enter.

EXAMPLE:
Something like
"""
These are the keys we will use for ssh:
$KEY

Next Steps:
1. SSH into <$DEVICE> like this ssh <$USER>@<$ipaddress>
2. Set a password by doing the following in that ssh session sudo passwd $USER

Congratulations! That's it you can now login to $DEVICE via ssh with
the command in step 1 or here by typing in $USER and password you set in
step 2

Now you can explore snappy core with snap --help
"""

Or something along those lines.

[Bug 1642215] [NEW] Zesty updating a package that uses dkms is not triggering mokutil and causing aptd to use 100% cpu

2016-11-16 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
Prerequisite:
A system with UEFI and Secureboot enabled

1. Install Zesty image from a couple of days ago
2. Update the system and run top

EXPECTED:
I expect the system to update and close

ACTUAL:
System stops late on in the upgrade process and triggers 100% of cpu usage,
When I kill the system and run sudo apt -f install the first think that happens
is I get a window for mokutil so my assumption is that update-manager isn't
triggering a window for this, causing the update-maanger window to grey out and
become unusable and aptd unable to move on then uses 100% of the cpu.

[Bug 1639865] Re: Unrequired initial screen

2016-11-10 Thread Dave Morley
Michael My initial thought was to just make the initial screen as
informative as the second. Then drop straight to the network setup.

IE Take the text from the second screen (The informative page), change
the text on the first screen to that text and then actually start the
config process from the network page.

I guess the only concern then is what to do about the cancel button on
the network page at that point right. Is subiquity clever enough to
skip a page but use if the cancel button is hit? then that would be the
way around it and make it look and feel consistent maybe?

[Bug 1639865] [NEW] Unrequired initial screen

2016-11-07 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Install Ubuntu Core
2. Boot it
3. Hit initial console-conf page reads "Hit enter to configure"
4. Next page reads "Ubuntu Core Configure the network and setup the
administrator account on this all snap ubuntu core system" which is basically
and info page where you hit enter to continue.

EXPECTED:
I expect to not have to hit enter twice to get to the initial setup page, one
of the 2 first pages is unnecessary.

ACTUAL:
You basically get 2 lets start configuring pages hit enter to continue.

SUGGESTION:
Remove the first Hit enter to configure page, use the more informative second
page and add a hit enter to configure if that is the thing that launches the
configuration app

  2. Boot it

+
+ SUGGESTION:
+ Remove the first Hit enter to configure page, use the more informative second
page and add a hit enter to configure if that is the thing that launches the
configuration app

[Bug 1637281] [NEW] issue with what to do when the sidestage empties

2016-10-27 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STORY:
You open the music player play some music, you move the player to the side
stage and open the webbrowser to do some work, you find browsing albums easier
in main stage so you drag the music app back out to find an album.

STEPS:
prerequisite frieza with some music on it
1. Open the music player
2. Set some music playing
3. three finger drag the music app to the side stage
4. Open the browser
5. Note the browser adjusts it's size to match the sidestage
6. Drag the Music app back out of side stage
7. at this point the player control are now under the sidestage

EXPECTED:
I either expect the windows to remain resized to fit the available screen or
for the side stage to close upon emptying.

ACTUAL:
The empty sidestage covers the right hand side of the application under it
meaning you have to close the stage in order to interact with that portion of
the screen. This is very demonstratable on music app on the Frieza Tablet due
to the convergent design of music app.

About is missing which means it is not possible to set dev mode from the
