Hi Christopher, Im reopening this ticket as it appears that the updating the bios did not resolve the issue. [Bug 1341275] Re: [Gigabyte GB-BXi7-4470R] Kernel panic in rtl8821ae
Hi Christopher, Looks like that did the trick. I can successfully boot the trusty- updates kernel: $ uname -a Linux dcoles-brix 3.13.0-30-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 4 21:40:53 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date F5 06/23/2014 Little tricky to do the BIOS update since the image is now too big for a FDD image. Best bet seems to be putting a FreeDOS image on a USB stick, copying over the BIOS updater files and running it off that. [Bug 1341275] [NEW] Kernel panic in rtl8821ae on GB-BXi7-4470R
Public bug reported: After updating the system to linux-image-3.13.0-30-generic (trusty- updates), the encounters a kernel panic during boot in the rtl8821ae module. This prevents the system from booting. This appears to be an issue relating to the mPCI WiFi+BT module (Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8821AE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter) included with the system. A workaround is to boot using the older linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic (trusty). [Bug 1241668] Re: gdb embeds python3.3, but support scripts are not compatible
Looks like the cause of the 'gdb.Value' object cannot be interpreted as an integer error is the range function not being able to turn a gdb.Value into an int. Put an explicit `int(val)` in there and I can get py-bt and py-list to work again. I've attached a patch with the changes I've made, but I want to check that this doesn't break Python 2.7 support and clean it up a bit more (pretty sure that `long` and `int` have been unified for a while now) before submitting this upstream. ** Patch added: Python 3 support https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdb/+bug/1241668/+attachment/3884699/+files/python3-support.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241668 Title: gdb embeds python3.3, but support scripts are not compatible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdb/+bug/1241668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 885042] Re: edit filesystem label appends characters nA when underscores are used
In my case I found it managed to mess up the label in such a way that I was unable to correct it with any other tools (gparted, dosfslabel or mlabel). Running `blkid` after using these tools would still report the broken label that Palimpsest had set. My solution was to re-partition the disk with gpated and then copy the contents back on afterwards. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885042 Title: edit filesystem label appends characters nA when underscores are used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/885042/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 882350] Re: qbzr opens giant window that causes Unity/Compiz to hang
Interestingly when I started with metacity, the window was reset to a sane size and the problem with the revert dialog was no longer visible. I was also having the same issue with qdiff but it fixed itself. I removed ~/.bazaar/qbzr.conf and windows defaulted to a sane size. Even by setting the window wider 2 or 4 times the width of the display didn't reproduce it. I guess it's possible it was trying to open some insane sized window (shame there was nothing unusual in qbzr.conf when I looked this morning). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882350 Title: qbzr opens giant window that causes Unity/Compiz to hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qbzr/+bug/882350/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 842302] [NEW] Apps from partners should show 'Use this source' rather than 'Install' button
Public bug reported: When trying to install a application from the partners repository the search list shows the 'Install' button rather than the 'Use this source' when the partners repository is not currently added to the list of software sources. [Bug 730394] [NEW] Text copied from Empathy can't be pasted in Gnome Terminal
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal After copying text from the chat history in an open Empathy conversation I am unable to paste the results into gnome-terminal. Pasting seems to work fine in most other applications. Thus a workaround is to paste the text into a plain-text field (something like gedit) and then paste from there. It seems to be something with the way these two applications interact. I'm wondering if rich-text contents are not being handled properly by gnome-terminal or if empathy is not correctly setting the plain-text version of the clipboard. [Bug 656666] [NEW] image.toarray method generates wrong shape array for YCbCr images
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: python-imaging PIL's Image class has incorrect dimension specified for YCbCr images. This causes issues when converting to or from NumPy arrays. The incorrect definition is at line 206 of http://svn.effbot.python- hosting.com/pil/PIL/Image.py. Example: Load up any image and convert to YCbCr. import numpy import Image as im image = im.open('bush640x360.png') ycbcr = image.convert('YCbCr') Using the Array interface produces a HxWx4 array, which is the wrong dimensions for YCbCr. Thus when selecting a single channel it displays incorrectly: A = numpy.asarray(ycbcr) print A.shape (360, 640, 4) im.fromarray(A[:,:,0], L).show() Here's an example decoding the image byte string ourselves gives the correct result: B = numpy.ndarray((image.size[1], image.size[0], 3), 'u1', ycbcr.tostring()) print B.shape (360, 640, 3) im.fromarray(B[:,:,0], L).show() ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: python-imaging 1.1.7-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Oct 8 14:58:29 2010 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release amd64 (20100816.1) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_AU.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: python-imaging ** Affects: python-imaging (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- image.toarray method generates wrong shape array for YCbCr images https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/65 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 571983] Re: Australian Telstra Bigpond mirror
I got a response from Telstra today in regards to the status of the mirror. snip We understand the removal of the file library will impact you and we are sorry for this but we were unable to continue to focus resources into a service with such niche appeal. In the meantime however, from today we have unmetered the aarnet mirror (as per your request) that has much wider range of useful files than what the BigPond Files Library did. You can find it at http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/. Sincerely, Martin McNaught Director BigPond Operations Voice Broadband Media Telstra It looks very unlikely that this decision will be reversed. On the other hand mirror has been effectively replaced by unmetered access AARNet (the default mirror for Australia). AARNet's mirror is also far more comprehensive than Bigpond Files was and doesn't suffer from the issue of not mirroring Multiverse. Given this outcome I'd suggest the we now remove files.bigpond.com from the mirror list. -- Australian Telstra Bigpond mirror https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571983 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've attached the output of scan with the latest kernel. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Attachment added: Attempting to tune on latest kernel http://launchpadlibrarian.net/46243264/2.6.34-999-generic.test.txt -- DViCO FusionHDTV DVB-T Hybrid card can't tune in newer releases https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569644 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 569644] [NEW] DViCO FusionHDTV DVB-T Hybrid card can't tune in newer releases
Public bug reported: I've been trying to track down a driver regression in my DViCO FusionHDTV DVB-T Hybrid card that makes it impossible to tune to DVB stations. In recent kernels (anything in past two years) the card is detected and /dev/dvb tree is created but attempting to scan for channels only results in a 'tuning failed!!!'. Note: On some occasions the card will not be auto-detected correctly (usually warm boot), so I have added options cx88xx card=46 tuner=72 to /etc/modprobe.d/dvb.conf. After some investigation I found a comment on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV/Install/Gutsy/Tuners that indicated that the card stopped working around the release of Gutsy 7.10. Since I had an old LiveCD on hand, I tried out Feisty and found that the card tuned fine, but in newer releases the tuning fails. Grabbing a few different kernel releases I can see that tuning works quite happily on the 2.6.17 kernel (very old) but appears to have broken somewhere around 2.6.22. Bisecting the v4l-dvb tree has the card turning at r4675, unable to compile r4676 and r4677, then no /dev/dvb tree being created until r5333 where tuning no longer works. I'm a bit stuck at this point since debugging linux kernel drivers is a bit over my head, but I do have a test box which I can happily mess around with. [Bug 554611] [NEW] nouveau driver locks up screen on certain operations
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau Certain graphical operations with the nouveau driver cause the display to lock up for several seconds. In particular, what looks like compositing operations. The most easily reproducible form for me seems to be with Chromium's tabs. When you try and drag a tab out to a new window it should show a preview of the tab. Very soon after the tab is removed from the tab bar the display will lock up for about 6 seconds before the translucent tab image will appear. It will then take about another 6 seconds before the the display will function normally. After this there seems to be no performance issue - it's just when first showing the tab preview. The mouse cursor is still able to move during this time. I believe that this might also happen when using the translucent on- screen volume control that appears when you use a keyboard volume control. After the first time this occurs, the volume control functions normally. Alt+Tab will cause the display to lock up for ~1-2 seconds before the tab-window previews appear. [Bug 553301] [NEW] Music synced to iPod touch does not appear on device
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Just been testing the new libidevice support in Gnome 2.30 as part of the Lucid beta. When I connect my iPod touch to my computer, I can see the device in Rhythmbox. I'm then able to drag music from my music library to the device. A progress bar appears and it seems that the song is transferred across (the song appears in Rhythmbox's window for the device). Unfortunately check the Music library on the device, or check in Rhythmbox after reconnecting the device, none of the transferred songs are shown. One suggestion is that since this iPod touch has never had music synced from iTunes that the music database on the device has not been created yet. I plan to try syncing at least one song from iTunes and then trying the transfer again to see if this is the cause. So, I got the ASCII version of Plymouth and then GDM fired up with no trouble. Was able to switch VTs to the console (Wooot! 1680x1050 console!) and back to X again. Thanks! :) Switching VTs after a resume from suspend still seems a bit funny. I get back to X fine, but then switching VTs the first time results in a black screen (with a very brief/dark flicker of the intended screen). Flicking between VTs once more seems to get it back working again - though this looks like a separate bug. -- [lucid] nouveau driver fails to switch virtual terminal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/546678 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 534225] [NEW] [lucid] gnome-network-properties sets no_proxy environment variable wrong
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center When setting a proxy using gnome-network-config, programs that check the http_proxy and no_proxy environment variables (such as wget) will not use the proxy server. [Bug 532292] Re: Doesn't get user/password details from authentication.conf
Looks like the issue is in create_auth_baton. When it calls `(scheme, netloc, path, _, _) = urlparse.urlsplit(url)`, netloc ends up being '' and path is '//coles.da...@clir.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/'. The urlparse.urlsplit function doesn't like 'svn+https' being passed to it - in urllib there's a 'uses_netloc' variable which determines if a url should be split into a netloc (which has things like 'http', 'svn', 'svn+https' etc.). So, either need to split the url ourselves or snip off the 'svn+' prefix. -- Doesn't get user/password details from authentication.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532292 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 532292] Re: Doesn't get user/password details from authentication.conf
Here's a small patch that fixes the problem by copying the code in SubversionAuthenticationConfig.__init__ that strips the 'svn+' from the scheme into create_auth_baton - nothing uses the full scheme anyway. I've left the duplicated code in SubversionAuthenticationConfig.__init__ since I'm not sure if other things call this function directly and rely on it to strip off the 'svn+' from the scheme. If not, it might be good to remove the code from there. ** Patch added: Patch to ~bzr-svn/bzr-svn/1.0 : /auth.py (revision 3270) http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40211475/svn%2Bhttps-netloc-fix.patch ** Changed in: bzr-svn (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress ** Also affects: bzr-svn Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: bzr-svn Status: New = In Progress -- Doesn't get user/password details from authentication.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532292 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 70293] Re: shutdown after plugging in AC with critical battery
Here's the output from a test this morning. Karmic doesn't appear to have a org.freedesktop.PowerManagement interface running on the session bus, but I've included a log from the org.freedesktop.DeviceKit.Power interface on the system bus as well as the GPM logs. Steps used to reproduce: 1. Unplug AC power and let battery discharge 2. Wait for power to reach critical level. The system should notify you that the battery is at a critical level and the computer is about to be shut down. 3. Immediately reconnect the power supply. The power tray icon should show that the system is charging. 4. After a few seconds a message in any open console will inform you that the system is going down for halt NOW!. (5. Optional: Curse if you had anything unsaved open) Note: This isn't over a suspend, but certainly easier to reproduce than trying to catch it right at the critical moment. ** Attachment added: dbus-devkit-power.log.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31586602/dbus-devkit-power.log.txt -- shutdown after plugging in AC with critical battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/70293 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Whilst http://opencvlibrary.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opencvlibrary?view=revrevision=1609 at least prevented the EIO from crashing OpenCV, it was still accompanied by kernel warnings (bttv0: timeout) and a drop in frame rate as it was re-buffered. Since no other programs seemed to encounter this problem, the solution we took was to use GStreamer to capture from the v4l2src and then pass the image data into OpenCV ourselves. This seemed to avoid the issues highgui's v4l capture drivers (although in the current OpenCV package the python setters were broken and required us to hack together our own little python wrapper). See http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/~dcoles/sdpgroup2/workspace/vision/gstcapture.py for an example. It seemed to either be a kernel bug uncovered by an unusual way of using v4l with this device or the OpenCV v4l code not handling the device correctly. I noticed that the OpenCV subversion now supports a few higher level capture devices such as libv4l and gstreamer which may be a way around these issues. Unfortunately I no longer have access to the bttv hardware we were using and so can't really do any more testing. -- bttv driver dies with VIDIOC_DQBUF error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260251 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Aye. Looks like it's now fixed in 1.0.1-0ubuntu5. Can see it in the package again. -- [Jaunty] 64bit Wine package missing GLU32.dll https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344585 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 346380] [NEW] Crash if no Kerberos credential cache found
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gajim One of my Jabber accounts allows authorisation via Kerberos. Since updating Gajim I can now sign in without needing password, but if I haven't requested a Kerberos token yet then sign in fails with the 'A programming error has been detected' popup . (The account is then stuck in the 'Connecting' state until a Kerberos token is obtained and either Gajim is restarted or the account is cycled through 'Offline'.) If you are unable to request a Kerberos token for the site then you have no way of signing in to this account. This has been reported upstream and has been fixed in subversion ( http://trac.gajim.org/changeset/11172 ) but still affects the current Ubuntu package. [Bug 344585] [NEW] [Jaunty] 64bit Wine package missing GLU32.dll
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wine Ubuntu Release: 9.04 Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Current Package: wine 1.0.1-0ubuntu4 When trying to run an 32-bit Windows binary that uses GLU32.dll on 64-bit Jaunty, the application is unable to find the DLL. Using the 32-bit version of the package in a 32-bit Jaunty chroot runs without any issues. Comparing the contents of /usr/lib32/wine and /usr/lib/wine on each system we see that the 32-bit version has 2 more files: glu32.dll.so and libglu32.def. Copying these 2 files over to /usr/lib32/wine allows the program to run. It appears that for some reason this file has been dropped from the 64-bit package between Intrepid and Jaunty. There is another experimental fix in upstream subversion. http://opencvlibrary.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opencvlibrary/trunk/opencv/src/highgui/cvcap_v4l.cpp?r1=1604r2=1609 I've rebuilt a local copy of the current package with this fix included and seeing if this makes things any better. -- bttv driver dies with VIDIOC_DQBUF error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260251 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 260251] Re: bttv driver dies with VIDIOC_DQBUF error
Alas, yes. After a proper test this morning we still had the program crash with the VIDIOC_DQBUF error. So unfortunately, no, it doesn't look like the 2.6.28 kernel fixed the bug. -- bttv driver dies with VIDIOC_DQBUF error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260251 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
