[Bug 596249] Re: high-pitch crackling background noise when recording from microphone
Hi, I am still facing the crack noise issue in my recorded sample. I am using Ubuntu 18.04.1 with latest stable kernel i.e. 4.18.12 I am using arecord utility to record my audio and then playing the .wav file with aplay. I tried the suggestions which have been provided earlier in this post, but nothing seems to be working for me. My board has ALC662 chip interfaced and using AMD processor. [Bug 1713175] Re: Obsolete backup ext2/3/4 superblocks can confuse e2fsck on an encrypted LUKS partition
My intention was to attempt to recover a filesystem. It just happened to be the wrong block device on which there was a functioning LUKS partition. Being defensive to prevent such a circumstance would call for two things: cryptsetup forcing a user to write zeros so such a situation isn't created in the future, and e2fsck checking for a LUKS partition and re-verifying the user really wants to continue despite there being a LUKS header and backup superblocks on the partition. If such checks can be added without additional dependencies, I think they just might prevent future similar mishaps. Maybe this mistake doesn't commonly happen, but this configuration of layering ext4 on LUKS is the default for most linux distributions, even for USB and external drives. In fact, e2fsck could've figured out through lsblk what I was really trying to do and corrected me. I had a relatively simple configuration. It wouldn't have been that hard to figure out what I was doing was wrong. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713175 Title: Obsolete backup ext2/3/4 superblocks can confuse e2fsck on an encrypted LUKS partition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1713175/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1713175] Re: Obsolete backup ext2/3/4 superblocks can confuse e2fsck on an encrypted LUKS partition
You are correct, not running atleast wipefs before using luksFormat on the block device was a mistake on my part, but I barely remember making it. I half expected fsck to come up with some errors, so I let it make changes. It is not a volume that is always connected at startup, hence the manual check. It was just the wrong block device. An isLuks check would have returned yes and prevented fsck from running. Maybe libblkid could detect luks partitions? This happened on a 2 drive raid 1 array, which I have dd backups of, if some how the array can be recovered. Hard lesson learned though. sir, for an update... i have just got 1440 x 900 desired output by using auto915resolution script. this happens very rarely (2-3 times). i am submitting the xorg.conf file as of now, since the resolution will most probably go back to 1024 x 768 after reboot: === # xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page. # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.) # # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only* # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg # package. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section "Files" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Generic Keyboard" Driver "kbd" Option "CoreKeyboard" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "us" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Configured Mouse" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Device""/dev/input/mice" Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "wacom" Identifier "stylus" Option "Device""/dev/input/wacom" Option "Type" "stylus" Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4"# Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "wacom" Identifier "eraser" Option "Device""/dev/input/wacom" Option "Type" "eraser" Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4"# Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "wacom" Identifier "cursor" Option "Device""/dev/input/wacom" Option "Type" "cursor" Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4"# Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller" Boardname "intel" Busid "PCI:0:2:0" Driver "intel" Screen 0 EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "VA1703wSERIE" Vendorname "Plug 'n' Play" Modelname "Plug 'n' Play" modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 36.0 800 824 896 1024 600 601 603 625 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 50.0 800 856 976 1040 600 637 643 666 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 49.5 800 816 896 1056 600 601 604 625 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 40.0 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 64.995 1152 1178 1314 1472 768 771 777 806 +hsync +vsync modeline "1280x854" 80.0 1280 1309 1460 1636 854 857 864 896 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 80.14 1280 1344 1480 1680 768 769 772 795 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 74.48 1280 1336 1472 1664 720 721 724 746 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 107.21 1280 1360 1496 1712 800 801 804 835 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 102.98 1280 1360 1496 1712 768 769 772 802 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 60.47 1280 1328 1456 1632 720 721 724 741 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 83.46 1280 1344 1480 1680 800 801 804 828 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 136.49 1440 1536 1688 1936 900 901 904 940 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 106.47 1440 1520 1672 1904 900 901 904 932 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 136.36 1600 1704 1872 2144 1024 1025 1028 1060 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 147.14 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051 1054 1087 -hsync +vsync Gamma 1.0 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller" Monitor "VA1703wSERIE" Defaultdepth24 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Virtual 16801050 Modes "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "1280x854" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" EndSubSection EndSection Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Default Layout"
[Bug 159007] Re: Screen and Graphics lose resolution configuration after reboot
are your using Intel 82945G/GZ chipset? since even my system cannot get correct 1440 x 900 resolution. i have to manage with 1280 x 768 only. could be a problem with intel experimental driver, since (if these are related) (1) even sound doesn't work by default (2) my monitor cannot wakeup from standby same problem with Ubuntu, openSuSE, Fedora and other distros? i can post more details if required. regards, devang. -- Screen and Graphics lose resolution configuration after reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159007 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 196674] [NEW] 1440 x 900 resolution problem
Public bug reported: Problem Would like to have perfect 1440 x 900 resolution. Setting 1440 x 900 @60 resolution even after dpkg-reconfigure, screen leaves a 1-2" vertical blank band on left side. Sometimes it makes the desktop black (wallpaper area, not taskbars). Only occasionaly I could get perfect resolution, but otherwise I have to manage with 1280 x 768. When I get perfect 1440 x 900 and then restart after sometime, it reverts back to the same problem of leaving 1"-2" vertical blank band on left side of screen. Adjustment through monitor's buttons not possible since it cannot move screen to such a large extent. Have even tried 915resolution and auto915resolution - did not help. System (Ubuntu 7.10) Viewsonic 17" widescreen LCD monitor (VA1703wb)... original Intel 82945G/GZ motherboard with onboard graphics & sound. Setup Monitor set as plugnplay widescreen with 24-70 horizontal range & 50-75 vertical refresh rate. ** xorg.conf file reads: # xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section "Files" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Generic Keyboard" Driver "kbd" Option "CoreKeyboard" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "us" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Configured Mouse" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Device""/dev/input/mice" Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "wacom" Identifier "stylus" Option "Device""/dev/input/wacom" Option "Type" "stylus" Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4"# Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "wacom" Identifier "eraser" Option "Device""/dev/input/wacom" Option "Type" "eraser" Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4"# Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "wacom" Identifier "cursor" Option "Device""/dev/input/wacom" Option "Type" "cursor" Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4"# Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller" Boardname "intel" Busid "PCI:0:2:0" Driver "intel" Screen 0 EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "VA1703wSERIE" Vendorname "Plug 'n' Play" Modelname "Plug 'n' Play" modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 36.0 800 824 896 1024 600 601 603 625 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 50.0 800 856 976 1040 600 637 643 666 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 49.5 800 816 896 1056 600 601 604 625 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 40.0 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 64.995 1152 1178 1314 1472 768 771 777 806 +hsync +vsync modeline "1280x854" 80.0 1280 1309 1460 1636 854 857 864 896 +hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 80.14 1280 1344 1480 1680 768 769 772 795 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 74.48 1280 1336 1472 1664 720 721 724 746 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 107.21 1280 1360 1496 1712 800 801 804 835 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 102.98 1280 1360 1496 1712 768 769 772 802 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 60.47 1280 1328 1456 1632 720 721 724 741 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 83.46 1280 1344 1480 1680 800 801 804 828 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 136.49 1440 1536 1688 1936 900 901 904 940 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 106.47 1440 1520 1672 1904 900 901 904 932 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 136.36 1600 1704 1872 2144 1024 1025 1028 1060 -hsync +vsync modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 147.14 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051 1054 1087 -hsync +vsync Gamma 1.0 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller"
