[Bug 572792] [NEW] php5 is 5.3, but not fully supported by Drupal6

2010-04-30 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5

[cross-posted from Drupal6 as this bug can be EITHER Drupal6 requiring
the wrong version of php5 *or* a problem with php5 having the wrong
default settings for Drupal6.]

Drupal 6 does not fully support PHP5.3 at this time. The default package of
php5 in 10.04 includes the following configuration option:
error_reporting = E_ALL  ~E_NOTICE

This does not allow Drupal to turn off the deprecated warnings and therefore
the site won't load. The php.ini configuration file must be updated to the
following for Drupal 6 to work:
error_reporting = E_ALL  ~E_NOTICE  ~E_DEPRECATED

[Bug 237995] Re: part of the website not up-to-date

2009-08-19 Thread EmmaJane
Brylie,

I don't think the container for the screencasts is the problem... I
think it's the time involved in creating screencasts. Do you have any
prepared that could be added to the site? I'd love to help you get them
added if you're ready to do that.

regards,
emma

[Bug 237995] Re: part of the website not up-to-date

2009-08-19 Thread EmmaJane
It is a Drupal site and the videos are hosted on Blip.tv. But I don't
think that Drupal is what's getting in the way of videos being posted. I
think what's getting in the way is that we've NOT had submissions. Not
on LP, not in the comments, not on the mailing list, not in the IRC
channel... There is currently some momentum in the documentation mailing
list and hopefully we will see some new videos generated from that
energy. In the mean time though, I really don't think it's appropriate
to create a new Web site. First we need the content and then we can
change the container if it truly is getting in the way.

I tested the GUI option in 0.26.1 in Ubuntu 9.04 and it does now work.

The command still throws up the error that is defined above. I'm not
sure if this is a problem with IRC or with xchat-gnome; however, the bug
was for a GUI option, so I've closed the bug.

[Bug 379839] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 - Tomboy - boot - OAFIID:error

2009-07-16 Thread EmmaJane
I had the same thing happen to me when I switched my GNOME preferences
to include Automatically remember running applications when logging
out. This option had not been a problem for me in 8.10 and before, but
it is now for Tomboy.

With this option set the icon moves from the left side of the panel
(where I keep my shortcuts) to the right side (notification area). It is
clearly not loading in the same way as before I set the Auto remember
option, and appears to be loading twice (once in notification and then
the panel instance fails). When the icon appears in the notification
area I can use it as I have before (click and notes are listed). When I
quit that instance, the icon automatically appears back on the left side
of the panel where it should be.

[Bug 363887] Re: kde help center kontact/index.html is missing

2009-04-19 Thread EmmaJane
I think what you're trying to say is, due to the size constraints of
the CD, Kubuntu has opted to include kdepim-doc as part of kdepim. The
documentation is, instead, listed as a suggested package in the file
pool/main/k/kdepim/kdepim_4.2.2-0ubuntu1_all.deb?

However, I am saying that when kdepim is installed from the gnome
graphical installer, Add/Remove Applications there is no CD to
restrain the size of the application installed. In this instance it
would be appropriate to also install the documentation, or at least give
a warning in Kontact that explains how to go about installing the
documentation package. The error message, as written, implies there is
no documentation written, which is not true.

[Bug 361980] [NEW] pcm volume required to play through speakers

2009-04-15 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

In 9.04 Jaunty there doesn't seem to be a way to play sound only through
speakers plugged that are plugged in through the green plug. The PCM volume
must be enabled for sound to also feed through the plugged in speakers, which
means there is no way to:
1) play sound only into a headset while on a VOIP call
2) use the volume control on the physical speakers to mute sound (turning down
the volume on the external speakers only affects the speakers, not the internal
speakers as well).

I'm not sure if this is a usability problem (configuration) or a true
technical bug with the sliders. Either way it is definitely a bug if I
can't figure it out within a few minutes of playing and testing with
sounds.

Note: this does work in 8.10 with my laptop (plugging in external
speakers disables the laptop built-in speakers).

[Bug 296000] [NEW] Fail to install Ubuntu if harddisk can't be resized

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

I upgraded my system from 8.04 to 8.10 using a LiveCD (so it wasn't so
much an upgrade as a complete wipe out and start over). I tried to use
the guided - resize (see attached screenshot); however there were disk
errors and the resize was not possible. I switched to guided - use
entire disk and still was not able to proceed with the installation. I
quit the installer and retried several times with no luck.

[Bug 296007] [NEW] Prepare disk space: use human language for disk partitions

2008-11-09 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

There is a mix of both human and machine language on the Prepare
disk space screen. Update the language to use human language wherever
possible. Please see attached screen shot.

e.g. /dev/sda1 is 8.04 or data partition
Ubuntu 8.10 -- this is great!
/dev/sda5 is probably a swap partition?

[Bug 296006] [NEW] Prepare disk space: match colours

2008-11-09 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Please match the colours in the top and bottom images. I'm sure the
colour on the bottom is just a system-generated colour, but it is
confusing to see the orange twice. Please see screen shot (attached).

[Bug 296012] [NEW] Prepare disk space: make choices human-friendly

2008-11-09 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

The installer is wonderfully human except for this step. I would like to
propose adding a new screen to the sequence with the following choices
(of course the language needs to be updated, but the choices would be
approximately as follows):

How do you want to partition the disk?
(1) Don't know/don't care, please decide the best options (warning, data may be
lost).
(2) Save existing data (squish current data into a smaller partition, no data
lost).
(3) Install from fresh (lose existing data).
(4) I'm an expert, let me partition the disk manually.

[Bug 294967] [NEW] notify on private message and /me emote

2008-11-06 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat

Currently xchat notifies me with a tray balloon of new messages
according to my Preferences - Alert settings. I would like it if this
notification could include emoted private messages. i.e. the ones that
start with /me. Let's face it: I always want to be alerted of a private
hug. :)

Currently running version 2.8.4 in Ubuntu 8.04.

[Bug 267176] Re: Tray Balloon

2008-11-05 Thread EmmaJane
This also affects me. 2.8.4 on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.

Installing libnotify-bin solves the problem. xchat should automatically
include libnotify-bin when it is installed to resolve this problem.

[Bug 293949] [NEW] no way to ignore dis/connect messages

2008-11-04 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

This is similar to Join/leave messages make chatrooms with many members
almost unreadable; however, it is not specific to a large channel. I
simply don't want to see those messages in some channels regardless of
the number of users connected.

Version: 0.18 xchat-gnome

In other IRC applications there is an option to hide this information by
right-clicking on the channel name and adding custom settings for only
that channel. This would be ideal.

I believe the command ought to be:
/ignore #channel JOINS PARTS

However this throws back the error:
  Unknown arg 'JOINS' ignored.
  Unknown arg 'PARTS' ignored.

Possible duplicate of: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/xchat-gnome/+bug/108818 different solution requested (i.e. not a
solution based on the number of people in the channel).

[Bug 290946] [NEW] application crashes when window is resized

2008-10-29 Thread EmmaJane

I can resize the window to make it taller; but if I resize the window to

narrower. I can widen it back to the point where the font size widget is
visible on the right hand side, but at some point just wider than that,
the application crashes.

[Bug 285036] [NEW] Wireless 4965 AG stopped working

2008-10-17 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

On upgrading to the 2.6.24-21-386 kernel my wireless card stopped
working. I'm also using virtualbox which required the following package:
virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.24-21-386. I have a feeling there may have
been some changes when this package was installed that affected the
kernel modules that are used by the wireless card, but I'm not sure what
to do next.

My wireless card is listed in lspci as follows:

[Bug 274220] [NEW] Online data storage to migrate from Windows

2008-09-24 Thread EmmaJane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: migration-assistant

This is a wishlist bug report. Please move it to the appropriate queue
for processing. :)

I would love to see a remote backup service added to the Live CD that would
help people migrate their data from Windows to Ubuntu. The application would
connect to a Web-based service and would upload all data from the current
machine to a secure offsite backup. The machine could then have Ubuntu
installed and the data would be migrated back down from the secure site to the
(now) Ubuntu machine. The advantage of using this service over a local
migration only would be:
(1) people can see their data is safe before migrating;
(2) people can continue to backup their data to an offsite location (therefore
making Ubuntu appear safer from data loss).

Integration with a service such as Mozy.com, or Amazon S3 or Dropbox
(already has a Windows + Ubuntu client) would be preferred. If someone
already has an offsite service set up the tool should be able to hook
into it and download the data.

This idea is also loosely described in http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/13671
Refinements welcome. :)

** Affects: migration-assistant (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Wishlist
 Status: New
