[Bug 743506] Re: banshee doesn't start

2011-03-31 Thread Espinet
I fixed the problem by purging banshee first, and them removing any folder in
the /.config directory and in the /usr folder related to banshee
Then I reinstalled banshee and it solved the problem, but I think I also
deleted some .png file (pictures) and no the banshee sound menu has no icon
anymore ...

2011-03-31 Thread Espinet
I also get that message with the latest version of banshee-community-
extension (version 1.9.1-1ubuntu1) on natty (non ppa, that one didn't
work either, that what I switch back (which was not a very good idea as
banshee bugged after that)).

[Bug 745100] [NEW] qbittorrent doesn't show up

2011-03-29 Thread Espinet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qbittorrent

qbittorrent won't show itself after being minimized:
steps to reproduce it :
1)start qbittorrent
2)minimize it
it then should have disappeared from the unity panel menu and when I try to
launch it again, it won't.
The qbittorrent process is still listed in the system monitor though.

I should add that just after I posted this bug, qbittorrent crashed with
no notice (while I was not looking at it) and I had to kill it through a
root terminal and restart it.

[Bug 743506] [NEW] banshee doesn't start

2011-03-27 Thread Espinet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

It started to happen when I downgraded from the ppa version to the
classic repo one because of a bug in the lyrics plugin (I removed and
reinstalled banshee and its extension after removing the ppa software
sources). The player doesn't start, I've tried to launch it from
everywhere I could think of (integrated soundmenu, classic
menu,/usr/bin,/usr/share/application ...). Instead, it displays an error
window (see screenshot) whose content is the following:

[Bug 738326] [NEW] compiz fails to initiate

2011-03-19 Thread Espinet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

As I log in on the ubuntu desktop on my machine, it is in fact gnome-panel that
is displayed and metacity window manager that is running. I tried to modify the
settings through the compizsettings manager but I couldn't get it working.
Trying to enable compiz through the terminal returned that:

Backend : gconf
Integration : true
Profile : default
Adding plugins
Initializing core options...done
Initializing bailer options...done
Initializing detection options...done
Initializing composite options...done
compiz (opengl) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz (opengl) - Fatal: Software rendering detected
compiz (bailer) - Info: Ensuring a shell for your session
francois@francois-System-Product-Name:~$ Cannot register the panel shell: there
is already one running.

There seems to be a problem with opengl though I have no idea what caused it as
I never tried to tweak opengl settings (other than with compiz-settings)...
(PS: the apport-gtk believed that I was running unity (which must be true) but
what I really see is gnome-panel)

[Bug 682550] Re: Compiz crashes when enabling or disabling a plugin in ccsm

2011-02-20 Thread Espinet
I think I have the same problem, when I change any compiz options with
compizconfigsettings manager compiz crashes (the windows borders disappear)
and I have to execute the unity python script to put things back to normal.
And it does that with every option I check (or uncheck) .

[Bug 713467] Re: polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID()

2011-02-12 Thread Espinet
It happened to me after trying to clean the computer with the computer-janitor
(and failing)
The system is telling me that there is an other manager running (like update
manager or Synaptic) whereas there isn't. Although this bug with
computer-janitor was reported (and fixed already) it has reappeared again so
maybe these two bugs are linked.

[Bug 706408] Re: duplicated entries in the indicator menu

2011-01-26 Thread Espinet
On my computer, I just have to log on on my favorite Desktop, the menu usually
appears like int should be. I then launch say evolution, and the menus are then
duplicated.
After that, if I close evolution, the little arrow on the left still appears as
if evolution wasn't closed and this menu is useless, I have to use the second
one to start evolution again. Now a when evolution is closed a second time this
start all over again.
Same problem with the chat (empathy) .

[Bug 702988] Re: Natty partial upgrade error: ubuntu-desktop cannot be installed

2011-01-17 Thread Espinet
I wouldn't say I sorted the problem out, I would say that I found a way around
it. Basically I reported this bug because a friendly window asked me to
But I don't know if something should be done so that this doesn't happen to
someone else.

[Bug 703515] [NEW] Start/Stop button menu not showing

2011-01-16 Thread Espinet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qbittorrent

When clicking on the little arrow on the Start (or the pause) button in
the UI nothing is happening but Starting (or pausing) the selected
torrent. It might not seem like a bug but I guessed these arrows are
here to display a menu, which enables the user to select between the

[Bug 702988] Re: Natty partial upgrade error: ubuntu-desktop cannot be installed

2011-01-15 Thread Espinet
I think I found a way around the bug. I performed the upgrade through
the synaptic package manager and reinstalled the package afterward.

But after that I still had a dependency problem, as I see it, the cairo-
dock (and its plugins) were conflicting with the libwebkitgtk. The way I
found that out was by manually installing the libwebkitgtk (after having
recieved several dep problem concerning this library). This installation
remove some of the cairo plugins.

[Bug 702988] Re: Natty partial upgrade error: ubuntu-desktop cannot be installed

2011-01-15 Thread Espinet
PS : It removed cairo-dock as well
Apparently, the libwebkitgtk used by cairo-dock and the other applications are
not in the same version.

But the thing I found strange is that the package manager did not ask me
whether I wanted to keep cairo or install the updates. I know that given
the fact that I installed the cairo-dock package manually, it has been
given a priority in order not to be remove, but I personally think that
the update manager should ask the user if he wants to keep the package
he installed manually,or proceed with the updates.

Though the partial upgrade goes on with lists of package to remove and upgrade,
in the list of the package to remove is unity, which seems problematic to me,
as I still want to use the ubuntu desktop edition ( and not the ubuntu classic

I don't know if removing unity will prevent me from doing that but I did not
see any replacement package on the install list so I am not upgrading from now

[Bug 700645] Re: unity and gnome-panel are started on login on ubuntu Desktop edition

2011-01-11 Thread Espinet
I do have gnome-session 2.31.1-0ubuntu9 installed on my computer (verified
through the synaptic manager) and after reinstallation of this package and a
reboot, the problem persists.
I don't know if it is relevant but I noticed that on startup, unity starts
first, displaying it's panel (on the left),and then the gnome-panel starts
(showing at the bottom of the screen, not at the top (the unity panel being
over it))

[Bug 700345] [NEW] No launcher, no files, no monted disk on the desktop

2011-01-08 Thread Espinet
Public bug reported:

When logging in ubuntu natty 11.04 alpha1 (with both unity and the
classic Desktop (gnome-panel)), the desktop background is showing
normally but there are no launcher, no files and no display of the
mounted disk,as one would normally expect (see attached screenshot). The
right-click feature (giving access the the appearance preference for
example) is also unavailable. This bug is strange and new, as previous
use of this version of ubuntu didn't reveal that kind of problem.

Unfortunately, I was unable to perform a Screenshot while displaying the
menu's items, but I confirm that the menus are usable, though
invisible...

[Bug 694708] [NEW] unity application menu is unreadable for some applications

2010-12-27 Thread Espinet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

For most applications (e.g. qbittorrent, nautilus, system monitor... but
not for evolution!) the menu on the top panel from unity stays the same
color of the theme in use and the menu items from the corresponding
applications, though they are clickable, are invisible. (Reminds me of a
well known bug with skype menus)
