[Bug 882307] Re: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken
Well, I managed to get the nautilus source code to compile and do some more testing. It is a bit hard to figure out the code when you're not familiar with it though, especially the way renaming in list view is implemented (the developers even call it a HACK in a comment in nautilus-view.c line 1758) At first I thought that when pressing Escape while renaming, there might be missing a call to a cleanup method. But unfortunately it was not that simple. A call to cell_renderer_editing_canceled is done, which seems like it should put back nautilus in a normal state. I did find out that the pressing of Escape is not actually what triggers the problem directly. If you select a file and press F2, then press Escape (so without Ctrl-C), then press F2 again, that last F2 will also trigger the bug. After that you can stop editing using Enter, and Copy/Paste in nautilus wil still be broken. So pressing Ctrl-C while renaming the file is not even necessary to trigger the bug. Just like Francisco Franchetti says above, when the bug triggers I see: Gtk-WARNING **: Inserting action group 'ClipboardActions' into UI manager which already has a group with this name And when I try to paste a file after that: Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_clipboard: assertion 'gtk_widget_has_screen (widget)' failed Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_clipboard_request_text: assertion 'clipboard != NULL' failed So yeah, that's all I have for now. Maybe I can look further later. If someone has any tips on where to look and which lines of code to debug I'd be glad to hear it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882307 Title: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/appmenu-gtk/+bug/882307/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 882307] Re: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken
I don't have time to setup a dev environment and compile and test nautilus, but I did browse the source code a bit to narrow down the problem. So I looked in the file nautilus-list-view.c [1] and found there are different ways to end a renaming action. Turns out, this bug only happens in one specific case. After pressing F2 and Ctrl-C, you can: * Press enter to actually rename the file: works. * Clear the file name and press enter, so the original file name is restored: works. * Don't change the file name and press enter: works. * Clicking on an empty part of the window to stop editing: works. * Change directories while editing the file name: works. * Press the Escape key to stop renaming: causes this bug! So in short: this bug only happens if you use Escape to stop editing. My guess is none of the cleanup-methods in nautilus-list-view.c are called when you press Escape, leaving Nautilus in an invalid state. Hopefully somebody with an already running nautilus dev environment can take a closer look. Even though this bug is a bit rarer than I initially thought, it's still a pretty breaking bug for the file manager of an LTS release IMO. [Bug 1038336] Re: Exract Here in thunar does nothing
I did some more research. When you do Extract Here in Thunar, it uses the following command to extract: file-roller --extract-to=/home/example/foo/bar/ --extract-here --force /home/example/foo/bar/test.zip The problem is with the --extract-to option. If I remove that it works, and any call to file-roller with --extract-to makes it crash. If I look at file-roller's manpage, it does list --extract-to as a valid option, so it really is a bug in file-roller. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038336 Title: Exract Here in thunar does nothing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/1038336/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I did find one way to get vsync to work in Natty, but it involves editing xorg.conf. I mean, in gconf I have the key /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager set to False, so it shouldn't be using compositing in the first place. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600178 Title: Screen tearing when dragging window, in videos and other large screen redraws (on nVidia GPU) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 600178] Re: Screen tearing when dragging window, in videos and other large screen redraws (on nVidia GPU)
For me the situation in Natty got worse. On Maverick (and before) I couldn't get vsync to work properly when using Compiz, but when using Metacity vsync was fine. On Natty (beta) vsync doesn't work properly with both Compiz and Metacity. So right now on Natty, no matter which settings I use or what I do, I can't get full screen video to play without screen tearing. [Bug 726902] Re: Loss of vsync when using Metacity.
This probably isn't an Intel specific bug, because I'm on NVIDIA graphics (proprietary drivers) and I'm having the same problem. BTW, I've never been able to get vsyncing right with Compiz, but Metacity has always worked perfectly for me (Maverick and before). With Natty I can't get vsync to work on Metacity though. [Bug 660443] Re: Recommended drivers don't work with Nvidia Optimus
paulpoco, what are you saying, that the Intel graphics chip isn't working right for you either? Because for me when I don't install the Nvidia drivers and stick with Intel graphics everything works fine, including 3D acceleration. [Bug 660443] [NEW] Recommended drivers don't work with Nvidia Optimus
Public bug reported: Nvidia's hybrid graphics technology Optimus (combines GeForce with an Intel graphics chip) is currently not supported in the Nvidia Linux drivers. When you install the drivers Ubuntu won't startup into graphics mode anymore. If you don't install the Nvidia drivers Ubuntu just uses the Intel graphics, and everything works fine. This bug hasn't been fixed for me, on an up to date Ubuntu 10.04. It is not an Empathy bug. Maybe Empathy was triggering the bug, but I do not have Empathy installed on my system, and I still have this bug happening. The only thing I have running in the Notification Area is the NetworkManager Applet. The black line appears at seemingly random times. [Bug 396253] Re: Notifier: Missing launch feedback after clicking icon
I don't think this is a specific problem of the package adept. For me this happens with certain programs (I think all of them are non- GTK+), like Open Office and VLC Media Player, that take a while to load. When I double click a document or video file to open with these programs I get no visual feedback whatsoever. Normally when I open a file I get (at least) feedback in the form of a mouse cursor animation. This results in people opening files twice, because they think the first time didn't work. I have seen this happen to several people. They double click a file, wait a second or so, see no feedback, so they double click it again. Resulting in opening the file twice. I guess the solution would be to always show the wait cursor animation whenever any file or program is opened. -- Notifier: Missing launch feedback after clicking icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to adept in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

Changing the resolution does not affect the order of the items on my panels immediately.
