[Bug 876379] [NEW] Unable to upgrade to 11.10 using kpackagekit because a package is marked as downgrade
Public bug reported: When I tried to upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 through kpackagekit, the I received the error message Process exited with code 1. Michael Vogt (mvo) advised me to file a new bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/873411 saying that my error stems from a package that is marked as downgrade. Thinking about his comment I realized that I do have such a package. I installed the clementine audio-player from their bleeding-edge repository http://ppa.launchpad.net/me-davidsansome/clementine-dev/ubuntu/ Clementine is also packaged in the official Kubuntu repos. It is an older version than the bleeding edge one but it gets listed as newer, thus the downgrade, I think. I could try to uninstall clementine and do the dist-upgrade after that if you want me to. For now, I'll wait until I get a response here. There is no preferences file in /etc/apt/ but one in /etc/apt/preferences.d/ which I attached here. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: distribution-upgrade kubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876379 Title: Unable to upgrade to 11.10 using kpackagekit because a package is marked as downgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/876379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 349229] Re: [RV350] system freeze randomly, need hard reset
Thanks Raphael It's weird. I tried a modified xorg.conf with just the AccelMethod XAA and that ran as crappily as before (20-50% cpu time for X). I decided trying to re-install vanilla Jaunty (quite radical solution, but I figured I might have some crap installed I didn't remember and wanted to exclude that). The only alteration to xorg I have right now is: Driver radeon I can live without compositing, but it still bugs the hell out of me, what the high cpu usage of X was. @Raphael Is your system running fine now? And could you perhaps post the contents of your xorg.conf ? I've got the same video card, running Kubuntu jaunty with latest updates and experience these freezes all the time. Even when idle, the Xorg uses 20-50% of cpu time. [Bug 289264] Re: Memory leak in update-notifier-kde
I experience the same problem on Jaunty with KDE 4.3RC1. running apt-get update and apt-get upgrade twice makes update-notifier-kde rack up around 200 MB of Ram (everytime I run it, update... takes in a few more MBs. Also for a couple of minutes it insane amounts of CPU time (in the high 70s to 80s initially, the between 20 and 50% for another couple of minutes). Now, on my main machine it not that big of a deal, but on weaker machines this is really annoying as this almost causes the system to come to a grinding halt.
