[Bug 2055006] Re: Crash

2024-02-26 Thread guillaume le louet
I found several .crash files along with .upload and .uploaded files.
When trying to sudo ubuntu-bug _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.0.crash
It crashed, too. I told it to "send a report"

I checked my recently sent bug reports. I believe it is
https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/2a5a9e86-d46b-11ee-9d13-fa163ec44ecd
But I don't have the rights to see it.

[Bug 1961814] [NEW] grub-mkstandalone ignores the --disable-shim-lock flag

2022-02-22 Thread Guillaume
Public bug reported:

After updating from grub 2.02 to grub 2.04 and grub 2.06 (in Ubuntu
22.04), an embedded system in which we were using UEFI Secure Boot
refused to start, with the following message:

error: /vmlinuz has invalid signature

Context:
- We are not using shim
- We have custom UEFI keys (PK, DB, KEK) enrolled in the system's firmware
- Both the grub image and the vmlinuz file are signed using sbsign and the DB
key
- The vmlinuz and initrd files are packed in the grub image using
grub-mkstandalone
- The embedded system is not using Ubuntu, however the GRUB image is built
under Ubuntu 22.04

After enabling debug=all, grub indicates that the shim can't be found
("Locating shim protocol", "Shim location: 0x0", "no shim lock protocol") and
fails to verify the signature.

In grub 2.06, we noticed that an option "--disable-shim-lock" has been
added in both grub-mkimage and grub-mkstandalone. However, the result is
strictly identical both with and without the flag (signature
verification fails), making it sounds like it's ignoring the flag or at
least doesn't seem to have an impact on the generated GRUB image.

Rebuilding using the same command line using Grub 2.02 (without the
--disable-shim-lock that didn't exist) makes the system boots find.

Please find a tar archive attached to this bug report:
- GrubImage_WithFlag.efi => Image built with --disable-shim-lock
- GrubImage_WithoutFlag.efi => Image built without --disable-shim-lock

This is still happening on recent kernels, and affecting newer machines
(Razer Blade 15 mid-2021 model). The trackpad works mostly fine after
boot, but after sleep and resume, the trackpad goes funky (moving the
cursor leads to random clicks, etc) and the kernel log is spamming the
same "incomplete report" message:

It works fine again after a full reboot. I get no issues on Windows with
the same hardware, fwiw.

[Bug 1936642] [NEW] Browsers crash on Kubuntu LTS 20.04

2021-07-16 Thread Guillaume Smietanski
Public bug reported:

Hello everybody

I installed Kubuntu LTS 20.04 on several computers using either an ISO
USB key (so from crash except for the /home directories) or upgrading an
LTS 18.04 version.

With all install, I have the same problem: Firefox and Chromium crash
regularly (but also randomly) when I try to open a new tab or load a
webside.

I use startpage.com as search engine, when I click on the middle button
on Firefox, it should open the webside on a new tab and fast
systematically firefox crashes, if I click on the left button, it
crashes not so often but can also crash.

I tried to start firefox with the safe mode: no impact. I found on
internet some special configurations but none correct the issue.

Due to the fact that Chromium also crashes and that the problem appears
on several computer, I guess that the problem is linked to a library
used by the both browsers.

I searched on internet but I don't see anything to resolve my problem.

What should I do ?
Thanks a lot for any comments/helps.
Best regards,
Guillaume.

Hi to all!

your information, I'm not an advanced user of ubuntu, i'm pretty much a newbie,

[Bug 1926153] [NEW] [hostname-M.2, Nvidia GPU 70 HDMI/DP, Digital Out, HDMI] Playback problem in terminal

2021-04-26 Thread Guillaume DELEVOYE
Public bug reported:

Hello,

When in terminal, with my header on, if I press alternatively the "tab"
key or the backspace key when there is no text, I get parasitic noise
that come and go, in addition to the error sound. The parasitic noises
are most often not loud, but they're here although they definitely
shouldn't. Sometimes, it's quite loud too.

The bug is not deterministic. Sometimes the tone is higher/lower.
Sometimes it disappear on the first time I re-press one key among tab
and suppress. Sometimes it requires more key pressing. I'm not sure
whether the sound ends up by disapearing after a few retries, or if it
just becomes too quiet for me to hear it. The bug doesn't occur when the
sound is deactivated

I feel like this has something to do with the error sound that is played
when I delete and there is no character to delete

It is not a big deal in itself. But maybe this very benign symptom hides
a more serious issue idk.

The sound comes out of my graphic card (nvidia gtx 980 ti) through a
Samsung TV. I don't think the problem comes from either the graphic card
or the TV, because it only happens in ubuntu, never in windows

[Bug 402892] Re: Mouse cursor gets stuck in "drag and drop" mode

2021-02-11 Thread Guillaume Carles
Happens very frequently for me also on a vanilla 18.04 (Thinkpad), but
only on a small subset of applications. What's strange is that the bug
appeared a few days ago after years without problem.

I do not use any external peripheral (nothing connected to the laptop
except the power supply).

An easy solution to solve this without rebooting the whole system is to
disable then enable the TouchScreen (disabling alone is not sufficient).

Following Paul Müller's steps:
- find your TouchScreen input ID with ``xinput`` (in my case ``Melfas LGDisplay
Incell Touch id=9``
- ``xinput --disable 9``
- ``xinput --enable 9``

If you want to automate this in a script/alias, you can easily retrieve the ID
once you know the name of the TouchScreen:
- ``xinput list --id-only 'Melfas LGDisplay Incell Touch'``

That is what Ubuntu configured in "automatic partioning" mode during install.
(If this should be different, "automatic partitioning" shoud be reconfigured, I
think.)
How much swap should I put? 4G? 8G?

[Bug 1910598] [NEW] Ejecting a Blanc CD/DVD/BluRay-R disk writes to it.

2021-01-07 Thread Guillaume Bottex
Public bug reported:

I used the "eject" contextual menu on the icon of a blank Bluray-R on
the caja desktop, and I got a message saying that I need to wait for
data to be written on the disc before being able to remove it safely
(same message as when trying to eject an usb stick, when some data
syncing is left to be done).

Afterwards, when I tried to burn data to it, the app (k3b) told that the
disc was not empty thus not writeable.

This bug cost me a brand new Bluray-R M-Disc of 100GB, which is a quite
pricey medium.

[Bug 1904620] [NEW] Tomcat 8.0.32 does not start with libraries compatible with Java 8 or older but compiled for Java 9

2020-11-17 Thread Guillaume Penin
Public bug reported:

An update to the BCEL library has been pushed upstream since Tomcat
8.0.42 : https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=60688

Without this update, loading libraries which are compatible with Java 8
or older but compiled for Java 9 on Tomcat 8.0.32 on Ubuntu Xenial
prevents Tomcat from starting.

Is it possible to backport this update to the BECL library on Tomcat
8.0.32 ?

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1858463] Re: Desktop freezing while SSD under heavy load

2020-11-06 Thread Guillaume Michaud
Tested right now with kernel 5.10.0-051000rc2-generic #202011012330 SMP Sun Nov
1 23:33:16 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
The problem happens all the same.
Test case :
- Launch 1 or 2 heavy downloads, e.g. large torrents with Transmission
- Every few seconds (10 ? 15 ? 20 ?), apps (e.g. Chrome) becomes unresponsive
(e.g. clicks and keystrokes are not taken into account, switching tabs is
impossible)
- Afterwards, apps respond for a while... and get stuck again... and so on
(Happened half a dozen times while writing this message.)

[Bug 1858463] Re: Desktop freezing while SSD under heavy load

2020-11-05 Thread Guillaume Michaud
This is still the case with a fully up to date Ubuntu 20.04 LTS desktop.
5.4.0-52-generic kernel.
When the system hangs, sometimes a "Chrome is not responding" Gnome window
appears.

** Description changed:

Every time my SSD is under heavy writing load (e.g. copying large files
from a USB stick, or downloading an ISO from a fast website), the entire
Ubuntu (Gnome) desktop, including mouse pointer, freezes.

My computer is an Asus UX410UAK with a Micron 1100 SSD.
  guillaume@massada:~$ sudo dmidecode | grep -i UX

This is a recurring problem, and has always been with this machine
(including previous kernel and Ubuntu versions, at least for the past 2
  years).

[Bug 1894997] Re: Similer

2020-10-20 Thread Guillaume Quittet
I have the same problem on Ubuntu 20.04 with Gnome 3.36.3
and on PopOS 20.04 with Gnome 3.36.3

Issue open here: https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/1306

I can use type accent in Chrome, gnome-terminal, gedit and others
applications

but not in overview and in Steam.

So it's pretty annoying.

I hope Ubuntu will fix this issue as soon as possible.

The problem doesn't not occured in my Fedora and in my ArchLinux
but they use Gnome 3.38

For me it's a Gnome related bug because it was working well with Gnome
3.36.2

[Bug 1894596] Re: Night Light stays on

2020-09-09 Thread Guillaume Michaud
This may have something to do with using an external screen.
I usually use only my external screen, with laptop screen/lid closed.
I noticed right now that if I open the laptop lid, then color on the external
screen goes back to "normal" and color on the laptop screen (defined as
secondary, without Gnome shell panel) stays in "orange" mode.

[Bug 1891034] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 drag and drop crashes

2020-08-10 Thread Guillaume Doisy
Public bug reported:

Draging and dropping a file in terminator doesn't work on ubunu 20.04. It was
on previous LTS versions. It is working on the gnome terminal however.
Seems to be fixed in newer versions, see here

Should a SRU be filled ?

[Bug 1882998] [NEW] openvdb6.2 is non functionnal on Focal due to jemalloc

2020-06-10 Thread Guillaume Doisy
Public bug reported:

See here : https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openvdb/issues/732
It seems the issue is due to jemalloc.
Using openvdb7.0 the problem dispears, probably thanks to the following:

* d/control: Remove dependency to jemalloc. See #951704 for details

Would it be possible to remove the dependency to jemalloc on the focal
version (6.2) or backport version 7.0 from groovy to focal ?

Re: [Bug 1873942] Re: [wayland] gnome-screenshot takes a screenshot of the wrong screen

2020-05-12 Thread Guillaume Michaud
I have upgraded to mutter 3.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1 this morning and rebooted.
I can confirm this new version fixes the problem for me.
Thanks!

[Bug 1872001] Re: 5.3.0-46-generic - i915 - frequent GPU hangs / resets rcs0

2020-05-08 Thread Guillaume FRANCOIS
As written in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1872001/comments/118,

I had no hangs with "5.3.0-52-generic" or the extended one "lp1861395v1"

I did not check the logs with "5.3.0-52.46+lp1861395v1" but with the
previous version the number of entries where very limited.

Unfortunatly I had to rollback to 5.3.0-51 as docker integration was a
totally broken and preventing daily work.

In the meantime, I tried to upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 with kernel 5.4.0x
but the upgrade broke docker and even using docker.io instead of docker-
ce did not fix the issue, as docker-ce is not yet available on 20.04.

I did not have the time to check for the "hangs" on 20.04 with kernel
5.4.0 but I can give a try if needed.

Later on, I'll probably do a format to perform a clean install on 20.04
to check is docker can work.

My laptop is a Dell Precision 7450 with an Intel i9-9880H.

[Bug 1872001] Re: 5.3.0-46-generic - i915 - frequent GPU hangs / resets rcs0

2020-05-04 Thread Guillaume FRANCOIS
Hello,

I installed today "5.3.0-52-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP" following comment
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1872001/comments/101
(and fixing the typo for /etc/sourceS.list)

It removed all visible hang issued I have before especially with
IntelliJ and the whole desktop.

Since I boot at 15h36 I got only 3 lines in journalctl, which is way
less then before.

[Bug 1873885] Re: USB keyboard / mouse does not wake computer from sleep

2020-04-23 Thread Guillaume Michaud
Workaround :
Put in /etc/udev/rules.d/10-wakeup.rules
The folliwing lines
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d",
ATTRS{idProduct}=="c52b" RUN+="/bin/sh -c 'echo enabled >
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1/power/wakeup'"
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d",
ATTRS{idProduct}=="c52b" RUN+="/bin/sh -c 'echo enabled >
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-2/power/wakeup'"
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d",
ATTRS{idProduct}=="c52b" RUN+="/bin/sh -c 'echo enabled >
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-3/power/wakeup'"

But this will only work for my computer and my dongle.

I guess something has changed in the kernel config or somewhere else, because
- this same workaround did not work a few days ago (cf. comment #2)
- the use of battery or AC power does not change anything (contrary to comment
#20)

[Bug 1873885] Re: USB keyboard / mouse does not wake computer from sleep

2020-04-23 Thread Guillaume Michaud
New testing today, with latest kernel update.

Booting with Unifying dongle plugged in:

guillaume@massada:~$ uname -a
Linux massada 5.4.0-26-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 20 16:58:30 UTC 2020
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
guillaume@massada:~$ grep . /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/wakeup
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-2/power/wakeup:enabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-8/power/wakeup:disabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/wakeup:disabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/usb2/power/wakeup:disabled

Unplugging the dongle, and then plugging it again, same USB port:

guillaume@massada:~$ grep . /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/wakeup
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-2/power/wakeup:disabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-8/power/wakeup:disabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/wakeup:disabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/usb2/power/wakeup:disabled

Waking the computer from sleep with mouse or keyboard does not work
anymore.

guillaume@massada:~$ sudo -s
root@massada:/home/guillaume# echo "enabled" >
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-2/power/wakeup
root@massada:/home/guillaume# exit
guillaume@massada:~$ grep . /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/wakeup
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-2/power/wakeup:enabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-8/power/wakeup:disabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/wakeup:disabled
/sys/bus/usb/devices/usb2/power/wakeup:disabled

Waking the computer from sleep with mouse or keyboard works again!

>> This should be re-enabled by default whenever you (re)plug such a
dongle.

Re: [Bug 1873942] Re: gnome-screenshot takes a screenshot of the wrong screen

2020-04-21 Thread Guillaume Michaud
Yes, I can confirm the bug happens only on Wayland.
Everything works fine under the standard "Ubuntu" session, or the "Gnome on
Xorg" session.
(I also noticed something strange under the "Ubuntu on Wayland" session,
wich might be related: I can screenshot the left dock and sometimes parts
the dock and an unfocused window, but never the focused/current/selected
window.)

[Bug 1873885] Re: USB keyboard / mouse does not wake computer from sleep

2020-04-20 Thread Guillaume Michaud
I noticed the issue only occurs when on battery.
