[Bug 1880022] Re: pid file prevents starting the docker snap

2021-01-26 Thread Guillermo Bisheimer
It happens every time that my machine is turned off improperly (i.e.
power failure or system crash). A file named docker.pid is left in
folder /var/snap/docker/current/run/ and this prevents the snap package
to startup successfully. I have to manually remove the file to be able
to start docker engine again.

tested with snap version
docker 19.03.11

[Bug 1871268] Re: Installation fails with Could not configure 'libc6:i386'. , E:Could not perform immediate configuration on 'libgcc-s1:i386'

2020-09-22 Thread Guillermo Legarda Herranz
I just got this error while attempting to install Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, which I
downloaded this afternoon. I managed to get through the partitioning and
username setting parts, but it crashed after that and I was redirected to this
page.
I am using a ThinkPad P14s with NVIDIA graphics, I enabled update downloading
during installation and third-party software installation. Any help would be
appreciated.

[Bug 1876420] Re: do-release-upgrade -d does not work to upgrade to 20.04 LTS

2020-05-22 Thread Guillermo Gutiérrez
If that is the expected behaviour, ok.
But you can read the instructions to update 18.04LTS to 20.04LTS using
Prompt=lts as in

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FocalFossa/ReleaseNotes :

"""
To upgrade on a server system:

Install update-manager-core if it is not already installed.

Make sure the Prompt line in /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades is set
to 'normal' if you want non-LTS upgrades, or 'lts' if you only want LTS
upgrades.

Launch the upgrade tool with the command sudo do-release-upgrade

Follow the on-screen instructions.
"""

It says "sudo do-release-upgrade" not "sudo do-release-upgrade -d"

[Bug 1876420] Re: do-release-upgrade does not work to upgrade to 20.04 LTS

2020-05-21 Thread Guillermo Gutiérrez
I have the same issue here.

I think it would be resolved by updating this file in the ubuntu server,
with adding an entry for 20.04:

https://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-lts

The most recent entry is for bionic at this moment.

That could be the problem?

[Bug 1765765] Re: on nfsboot 18.04 bionic, internet addresses arn't resolve properly

2019-02-20 Thread Guillermo
Hi Brian,

No, I had to remove it since including it triggered some errors during boot.
IIRC, one was "failed to raise network interfaces". I've tried with 18.04.2 and
networking works, but there's only the raising network interfaces error.

In both cases, gnome says that networking is "unmanaged". Does it make
sense?

Here's an extract from syslog under 18.04.2 with ip=dhcp:
Feb 20 07:14:06 ubuntu avahi-daemon[924]: Failed to open /etc/resolv.conf:
Invalid argument
Feb 20 07:14:07 ubuntu NetworkManager[909]: [1550646847.4309] Error:
failed to open /run/network/ifstate
Feb 20 07:14:09 ubuntu ifup[1367]:Error: any valid prefix is expected rather
than "dhcp/dhcp".
Feb 20 07:14:09 ubuntu ifup[1367]: Failed to bring up dhcp.
Feb 20 07:14:09 ubuntu systemd[1]: networking.service: Main process exited,
code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Feb 20 07:14:09 ubuntu systemd[1]: networking.service: Failed with result
'exit-code'.
Feb 20 07:14:09 ubuntu systemd[1]: Failed to start Raise network interfaces.ls
-la

The invalid argument error is also present when I boot without ip=dhcp, but
that's all.

[Bug 1755863] Re: netbooting the bionic live CD over NFS goes straight to maintenance mode :

2019-02-19 Thread Guillermo
@beta-tester I can finally boot with network using the workaround in
18.04.2.

The workaround is, however, a bit difficult to apply, unless there is
another way to do it. unmkinitramfs will only extract one of the 2
embedded microcodes and thus I'm extracting the initrd manually.

[Bug 1755863] Re: netbooting the bionic live CD over NFS goes straight to maintenance mode :

2019-02-12 Thread Guillermo
Using Brian's workaround (#36) I'm able to netboot. However, raising the
network interfaces fails. Is it related?

journalctl shows:
ubuntu ifup[3055]: Error: any valid prefix is expected rather than "dhcp/dhcp"

Networking does partially work: pinging IP addresses work, but DNS
resolution doesn't.

[Bug 1768230] Re: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to device scanning.

2018-08-17 Thread guillermo
Used Ubuntu 18.04 in my 8 year old Toshiba Satellite L675 laptop for
months without issues, progressed to 18.04.1, no problems, until
upgraded to kernel 4.15.0-32-generic 2 days ago, then, same bug as
described. only in my case the waiting didn't finished automatically so
I had to manually hit the keyboard to obtain a message for press the
Enter key to boot. I fixed it editing /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
to RESUME=none and then regenerating initramfs with sudo update-
initramfs -u. Now I boot again without delays.

[Bug 1784918] [NEW] CMake config files are in an unconventional path

2018-08-01 Thread Guillermo Frontera
Public bug reported:

CMake config files are installed in the directory /usr/lib/cmake, which is not
one of the conventional directories for config files. Thus, CMake will not
search for config files in such directory, and will fail. This affects the
files:
 - nlohmann_jsonConfig.cmake
 - nlohmann_jsonConfigVersion.cmake
 - nlohmann_jsonTargets.cmake

A conventional directory would be /usr/lib/cmake/nlohmann_json, for
example.

[Bug 1404147] Re: Screen is stretched when using dual monitors

2017-05-23 Thread Guillermo Alonso
Exact same problem. I've tried many online solutions but I can't get it
to work.

Using an HDMI connection.

MSI GS43VR
GeForce GTX 1060/PCIe/SSE2
ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Nvidia binary driver 381.22 from nvidia-381 (open source)

Works:
- External monitor only

Does not work:
- First monitor only
- Extended mode
- Mirror mode

However, during my trial and error process, I got to manage to get
everything except extended mode working.

[Bug 1683917] [NEW] General Input/Output error with Google Drive

2017-04-18 Thread Guillermo
Public bug reported:

This is a problem with Libreoffice Writer, but for some reason it didn't
allow me to set that as package (libreoffice-writer)

When adding a Google Drive service, before it can show the remote files it
fails, I get the message "General Input/Output error with Google Drive".
The authentication trough though, because I get an email from Google letting
me know there was sign-in from a new device.
Weirdly, the flatpack from Libre Office is being able to connect correctly.

Using Ubuntu 17.04, Libreoffice 1:5.3.1

[Bug 1668943] [NEW] Kernel panics and warnings with Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 and GME965

2017-03-01 Thread Guillermo
Public bug reported:

During the boot sequence we see a stack trace (check the dmesg), and
after some time using the computer, the kernel panics and everything
hangs (see attached pic).

I've tried the 32 bit version of the following kernels:
linux-image-4.4.52-040452-generic (downloaded from the kernel ppa)
linux-image-4.8.0-34-generic
linux-image-4.8.0-37-generic
linux-image-4.8.0-39-generic
linux-image-4.10.1-041001-generic (downloaded from the kernel ppa)

I've also tried the 64 bit live version of Ubuntu 16.04.2, plus another
old distro with 4.3.2. Same result in all cases.

This issue can be reproduced in another machine with the same specs
(same laptop).

Booting with nomodeset makes this problem go away, but the resolution is
limited to 1024x768 and it's not a permanent fix, obviously.

By the way, here's the output of lshw -c video (as non-root, since it segfaults
as a root)
$ lshw -c video

[Bug 1620060] [NEW] Consume all the memory till freeze the computer

2016-09-04 Thread Guillermo Lo Coco
Public bug reported:

Hi,

When I browse webp folders and open some webp pictures, gthumb start to
consume a lot of ram each time I open a picture, till freeze the OS for
complete.

I been using as webp browser since is the only ubuntu app that works
with webP, but after viewing lets say... 20pics.. have to close it, and
open it again.

Seems like each time it open a picture and close, it didn't free the
memory, and keep increasing memory usage till freeze the whole PC.

This bug has been since webP support arrived. I was lazy to report it.

Ubuntu 16.04 updated.
4GB-RAM

(2 years ago I converted all my pictures to webP)

[Bug 1100190] Re: [Upstream] I/O Error while opening file from WebDAV over GVFS from Nautilus

I confirm the GVFS issue with SMB shares.

GVFS shares are much more flexible and today I can't open an ODB from an
SMB share.

[Bug 1574679] [NEW] Ubuntu release upgrader from Ubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04 stops without doing the upgrade.

2016-04-25 Thread Guillermo Burastero
Public bug reported:

Soon after beginning the upgrade process from Ubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04 it
stops without correctly finished it.
A splash message windows opened with the following text in Spanish:

==

==

Then only possible reason may be the third: "Not official software
packets provided by Ubuntu", but I can not imaging which.

Thanks in advance.

Guillermo.

[Bug 1507091] [NEW] Corrupted low memory on Ubuntu 15.04

2015-10-17 Thread Guillermo Rodas
Public bug reported:

I have had a lot of freezes on my laptop, and I'm trying to figure out
what is the reason because just have like 6 months of bought.

This is my laptop information:
Lenovo G40-80
7,7 GiB Memory
Intel® Core™ i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz × 4
AMD Radeon HD 8500M
Ubuntu 15.04 64-bit (Gnome version)

I made a memtest86 and I got 3/4 good test (I took like 4 hours, so I
just stopped it because I had to leave).

I have this log that I think that was just before freezes (I have to do
a Alt + SysReq + REISUB, for restart my laptop):

[Bug 1433770] Re: KNemo crashed with SIGSEGV

2015-08-14 Thread Guillermo Cortes
yep, it can't start, .. and is the only one systray network monitor available
for kubuntu .. I'm in Vivid (Kubuntu 15.04)
I hope there 'll be a fix or workaround soon.

[Bug 1317108] Re: dead keys not play randomly, tildes no funcionan aleatoriamente

2015-04-08 Thread Guillermo Molleda

Beware, it may be a different problem:
The bug #1317108 type _e_ instead of _é_ sometimes, and switching between
windows (ALT + TAB) can be rewritten well.
Your mistake is that he writes _'e_ instead of _é_ and always in QT
applications, that's another older error.

[Bug 1406222] Re: Can't switch to Radeon rendering

2015-03-01 Thread Guillermo Lo Coco
Hi Christopher,

Exactly, if I force with vgaswitcheroo to DIScrete (radeon), display goes off.
I think, since it is a muxless system, Radeon GPU have no populated display
port. Only works as gpu coprocessor.

[Bug 1406222] Re: Can't switch to Radeon rendering

2015-03-01 Thread Guillermo Lo Coco
Hi Chris,

No option. Running latest Bios.

I think this muxless config is like a rendering coprocesor with no pin
to external display. Radeon coprocess data and use DMA to Intel FB to
connect to display. Something new for me.

[Bug 1406222] Re: Can't switch to Radeon rendering

2015-02-24 Thread Guillermo Lo Coco
Hi Christopher,

I'm running kernel 3.19 + oibaf ppa
(https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers)

Beside that, I added DRI_PRIME=1 variable to /etc/enviroment to make it
default.

Even with that variable, latest kernel+mesa+, Bricscad fail to inicialize in 3D
with this ugly message:
intel_do_flush_locked failed: No such file or directory

Recently added LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 variable and seems to launch
Bricscad in 3D.

I will 3D test more with this laptop. If something new appear, I will
write here.

[Bug 1406222] Re: Can't switch to Radeon rendering

2015-02-17 Thread Guillermo Lo Coco
I found that my notebook HP G62 is a Muxless GPU system, with an IGP
i915 + DIS Radeon 54xx.

The way I can run an app in accelerated mode is with DRI_PRIME=1
glxgears

But I cannot enable it by default.

Also an important app for me fail to start with this silly message:
intel_do_flush_locked failed: No such file or directory

[Bug 1406222] [NEW] Can't switch to Radeon rendering

2014-12-29 Thread Guillermo Lo Coco
Public bug reported:

After playing a lot, I can't swith from integrated Intel to Discrete
Radeon VGA.

vgaswitcheroo:

0:DIS-Audio: :Off::01:00.1
1:DIS: :DynOff::01:00.0
2:IGD:+:Pwr::00:02.0

If: echo DIS ./switch display turn off.
I tried make an script, switching to DIS and after launching a modified
xorg.conf. But even that, none seem to happend. Screen still off.

GLXHEAD show rendering with INTEL instead of discrete Radeon:
root@labPC:/tmp# glxheads
glxheads: exercise multiple GLX connections (any key = exit)
Usage:
  glxheads xdisplayname ...
Example:
  glxheads :0 mars:0 venus:1
Name: :0
  Display: 0x1302010
  Window: 0x443
  Context: 0x13134f0
  GL_VERSION: 2.1 Mesa 10.3.2
GL_VENDOR: Intel Open Source Technology Center
GL_RENDERER: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ironlake Mobile

Any openGL rendering app run slow.

My question is, How can I enable Discrete Radeon GPU ?

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1387039] Re: Dual VGA get enabled on HP G62. Hybrid AMD/Intel config

2014-10-30 Thread Guillermo Lo Coco
Hi Chris,

This notebook came to my hands with no stickers in front nor back. Only have
WinSerialSticker.
I thought it was a HP G62 143A/CL, but I'm not sure. It's also came from a
different country, India I think, but also not sure about that.
