[Bug 1004607] Re: pulseaudio switches microhpones randomly
Raymond, the output is below. BTW I will not have access to the problem computer for further testing for awhile. As for your question about front audio panel, there is only one mic and one headphone jack. As for jack states, I'm not sure I understand. $ ./alsa_utils_alsa-info.sh ALSA Information Script v 0.4.61 This script visits the following commands/files to collect diagnostic information about your ALSA installation and sound related hardware. dmesg lspci lsmod aplay amixer alsactl /proc/asound/ /sys/class/sound/ ~/.asoundrc (etc.) See './alsa_utils_alsa-info.sh --help' for command line options. [Bug 1004607] Re: pulseaudio switches microhpones randomly
I'm not sure I understand your comment, Raymond. In my case there is *no* front Mic because I've moved it to the rear. Yet during a Skype call the system would switch from the rear Mic to the non-existent front Mic, so the other party heard nothing from me. After I applied Cezary's workaround above, the system continues to use the rear Mic, which is what I want. Are you saying it's not a bug? (In which case is there a better solution than the workaround above?) Or are you clarifying what the reason for the bug is? cat /proc/asound/card0/codec\#0 | grep Codec Codec: Realtek ALC892 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004607 Title: pulseaudio switches microhpones randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1004607/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1004607] Re: pulseaudio switches microhpones randomly
I started to experience this bug a few days ago, after I switched my microphone from front to rear. (Ubuntu 12.04) I want to thank the OP for the workaround, which so far is working perfectly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004607 Title: pulseaudio switches microhpones randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1004607/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 480152] Re: Samba service doesn't start automatically
Looking good. Both my Karmic machines have been automatically restarting Samba after reboots. [Bug 480152] Re: Samba service doesn't start automatically
Michael, you're right, it's too unbelievable. I just noticed that after the most recent reboot, Samba also did not restart on the other Karmic machine (no VirtualBox). OTOH, Samba did successfully restart after the most recent reboot of the machine that runs VirtualBox. So my experience can be summarized as: *Sometimes* Samba fails to restart after rebooting Karmic, on both Karmic machines here. AFAIK VirtualBox is a red herring. Another thought, FWIW: Both these Karmics were upgraded from Jaunty; neither is a clean Karmic install. -- Samba service doesn't start automatically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480152 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 480152] Re: Samba service doesn't start automatically
This bug affects one Karmic machine but not another Karmic machine on our network. No obvious differences (to me) between the two -- they run similar apps -- although the afflicted machine often runs a VirtualBox guest WinXP virtual machine. I'd be glad to run diagnostics if someone can suggest what to do.
