[Bug 1948010] Re: photo comment changed in "binary comment"

2021-12-11 Thread J-Paul BERARD
I'm french as well.
I agree with you.
Nowadays, if I close and open Shotwell again, the comment appear normally under
the photo and in the extended informations panel. But they become "binary
comment" as soon I open the comment window again (F3).

[Bug 1947609] [NEW] when Imagemagick is closed stay displayed in the dock

2021-10-18 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

When using ImageMagick (with a Wayland session) and you close it, the icon stay

left of the screen but this menu is not active : you can do nothing with it
It is impossible to launch again the app until you close the session

Same kind of bug than 1932328 with Thunderbird, but different app :

[Bug 1936393] [NEW] thunderbird window hided and abnormal context menu

2021-07-15 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

Many times, when I minimize the main Thunderbird window to the dock, later,
it's impossible to maximise it again (impossible to see it) and the contextual
menu of the Thunderbird icon in the dock, appears on the top left of the screen
like frozen : you can do nothing with it and you cannot hide it until you close
the session.

[Bug 1926325] [NEW] After upgrade to 21.04, WiFi unable to connect on channel 13

2021-04-27 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

I have upgraded a desktop system from 20.10 to 21.04
Then, the computer didn't connect to my WiFi network anymore ! When I opened
Network manager, I could see the WiFi networks of my neighbours but not mine !

My Wifi network is provided by a Freebox (french provider Free) and choose
automatically the channel for the Wifi network (n type). At home, it was
channel n° 13. The neighbours were on channel 6.
So I changed the setup of my box manually to channel 11 and the computer can
see again my network and connect without problem ! Of course, this problem
didn't happen with the 20.10 version : it was connected on channel 13 before
the upgrade !

So it seems that Ubuntu 21.04 is unable to connect to a network on
channel 13 !

[Bug 1907904] [NEW] gnome-shell 20.10 crashes with Wayland

2020-12-12 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Gnome 20.10 (upgraded from 20.04), 64 bits,Wayland session
AMD CPU Fx
GPU Radeon

Very frequently, Gnome-shell crashes and difficult to understand why or
when.

Example : open a Libreoffice Calc file ; export it twice in PDF format on the
Desktop. Right-click on this files icons on the desktop to delete them : for
the 2nd, the screen becomes black (I can do nothing) and after about 20 s, I
get the login screen.
I exported the journal file (attached file) (and the session crashes again)
because the system says nothing !

Doesn't happen with X session.

2020-11-10 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Thanks for your answer.
Not at all : LibreOffice is installed by a conventional manner, not like a snap.
It is the package provided by an usual Ubuntu installation (probably 18.04
upgraded until 20.10)

Strange !
But I can tell you that nowadays, if I look for LibreOffice app, I can find
Writer, Calc, etc but I can't find anymore the LibreOffice app which allowed
the user to choose what he wanted to do in a general window.

And if I try "sudo apt install libreoffice", the terminal give me 21

[Bug 1902673] [NEW] LibreOffice Base : connection to embedded HSQLDB impossible

2020-11-03 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 20.10 64 bits, GNOME
LibreOffice 7.0.2.2 included in the distribution (not snap).
French

I try only to create a new database with LO Base using the default
HSQLDB system.

I create a new database choosing the first option : embedded HSQLBD
When I try to select the tables to create one, I get an error :
/build/libreoffice-pLFcgN/libreoffice-7.0.2/connectivity/source/-commmontools/dbexception.cxx:399

The problem is the same with Ubuntu 20.04 (LO 6.4) but this problem
doesn't exist with Ubuntu 18.04 (LO 6.0.7.3)

Maybe same issue than n° 1875477

[Bug 1902535] [NEW] Calc freeze when I try to export ods to xlm 2003 format

2020-11-02 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

I have a file saved in ODS format (only 12 sheets with about 60 lines and 20
rows, a planning for a staff)
This file was an Excel 2013 file with macro that I opened and modified in LO
Calc 7.0.2.2

If I save it in Excel2007-365 with macro format, it works
If I export to Excel 2003 xlm format, Calc freezes and once, the system froze !

[Bug 1879179] [NEW] Ubuntu freezes or is very slow because RAM memory and Swap are overloaded

2020-05-17 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

I use BOINC and sometimes my computer freezes (the mouse don't move anymore, no
answer to the keyboard) or become very slow.
Today I reached to run System monitor and I saw the ram (8 Go) and the swap
file were fulled up !
I reached to stop the BOINC Daemon, and recovered the memory.
Beside Boinc, I was using Firefox (webpage without video) and Thunderbird.
In Boinc-manager, the memory allowed was 75 % when the computer is busy and 90
% when it is not busy.

Isn't to the system to manage the RAM to prevent to be overloaded ?
Is it a bug of Boinc-client ?

Re: [Bug 1831295] Re: Firefox freeze when I drag an URL address to a Nautilus window

2019-10-08 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Hello,

Like I had several problems with 19.04 (mainly the computer which didn't
stop completly), I've already updated the system to 19.10 RC.

And I have no more this bug : when I drag the adress on the desktop or a
Nautilus window, nothing happens : the URL is not copied but the app
doesn't freeze any more.

Firefox 69.02 - Wayland

Good evening.

BUT, the behavior is not really the good one : when you unmaximize the window,

So, when I boot with kernel 5.2, the computer stop normally and completely like

Hello,
I didn't reach to start with this new 5.2 kernel !
I installed the 4 .deb packages for my amd64 computer without error message ; I
updated Grub (and the kernel 5.2 is in the list) but when I start, in Grub, the
kernel 5.2 doesn't appear !
I have uninstalled VirtualBox : no effect
I'm not used to that at all and I don't understand what to do...
Sorry.

And another interesting information :
If I use a live-cd (USB disk) with 19.04 to open a session : the problem is the
same
If I use a live-cd (USB-disk) with 18.04 to open a session : the computer stop
normally at the end when I remove the USB-disk and press Return !

So, it looks really to be an issue of 19.04.

Re: [Bug 1803407] Re: Totem freeze while reading a video under wayland

2018-11-15 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Oups !

I tried to go to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME but when I
use 'File a bug', I find only a few apps already registrated. It looks
not so easy.

I found that I should go to
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=totem but I must be
registered... I will try again.

Bonne soirée

Hi, bonjour,

Sorry but I don't know what are stdout/stderr...

Journal log : I used Ubuntu-bug command, so several files were added.
But, if you tell me which log file you need, I may send it (it's easy to
get the bug again).

[Bug 1730420] [NEW] Window size when LibreOffice starts

2017-11-06 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

With Artful 17.10 Wayland, any app of LibreOffice opens with a small window.
Previously, it opened with a "common size" or the size you used previously (see
attachment)
If it was opened with a full screen window the previous time, it opens in
full-screen mode. If you check the "windows size" button, you may get a more
smaller window with only the menu of LibreOffice.

[Bug 1456616] [NEW] unable to rotate a pdf coming from Firefox (Google maps)

2015-05-19 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Public bug reported:

In Firefox, I used maps.google.com to display a map. I made a PDF file of this
map using 'printing' function in Firefox.
This document is in landscape format.
If I try to rotate it, the page become gray without anything.
Same way, if I try to print it telling to the printer to use landscape format,

[Bug 1068661] Re: 1002:6740 Unity does not load after installing fglrx-updates Radeon HD 6700M Series

2012-10-28 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Same problem here with a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 64 bits, with Phenom
processor and Radeon 6850 graphic card.
Either fglrx or fglrx-update open a session without Unity : no launcher, no
dash.

Not easy to go back to the free driver ! How to do :

Launch a Terminal with ctrl+alt+ T keys
Type : sudo apt-get purge fglrx*
give the password
Accept to remove the package when asked (type o)
Start again by typing : sudo shutdown now

[Bug 957589] Re: LibreOffice ignores localized help

2012-07-01 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Same problem for me but I must add an information :

French help is installed and is available in the 'Content' tab of the
help. You'll find everything.

BUT, in the Index ou the search tab, you can see only the english items. The
search can only found english results.
It looks like if the french database of the words is right but without any
index.
Thanks.

[Bug 995817] Re: share samba doesn't work easily

2012-06-14 Thread J-Paul BERARD
Robie,

I agree with you : on your computer, it works as I would expect.

My computer was built new this year and I installed 11.10. I upgraded to
12.04 beta version in march I think. I don't think to have installed
very exotic app : only VirtualBox, and Digikam (which is more designed
for KDE).

Under, the 2 commands you asked me. I tried the 2nd one for 2 shared
folders in Nautilus : Public and Documents. The 2nd time, for Documents,
I didn't enter the password.

Your chat with Chow is interesting for me despite I have no idea I've no idea
where the process fails.
Thanks for your help.
