[Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2013-06-04 Thread Jammy Zhou
Rafael, which Ubuntu version are you using? And what's the kernel
version? For the external corruption you mentioned, some fix is needed
in Intel kernel driver, and probably you can try the kernel image below.

Thanks for your info, Marco. So current problems are different from
original one discussed in this thread, right? In this case, I'd suggest
to create new bugs to avoid confusion (there are too much information
mixed in this thread).

[Bug 885991] Re: no window manager on second screen for dual head mode

2013-04-22 Thread Jammy Zhou
Hi James,
I think this is a generic issue for all platforms. With AMD graphics card and
fglrx driver, this problem can be easily reproduced with steps below:
- connect two monitors to the graphics card
- install the fglrx driver
- run aticonfig --initial=dual-head -f (two screen sections will be specified
in xorg.conf)
- restart X
- there is no window manager on the second screen, and the display is totally
white for the second screen (LP#885989, this issue can be workarounded by kill
the nautilus process)

BTW, DISPLAY=:0.1 compiz can be used to launch compiz on the second
screen.

[Bug 1068404]

2013-02-18 Thread Jammy-zhou-v
Stefan,

The new issue is caused by Intel driver change to map the GTT aperture
(bottom half of BAR 1) as WC, while the top half of BAR1 is still Un-
Cacheable. Then the conflict happens when fglrx driver maps the whole
BAR1 of Intel IGP device. We have already prepared a fix for this, which
should be available in Catalyst 13.3. As a workaround before that, I
think you can do some change in Intel graphics driver to map GTT
aperture as Un-Cacheable.

Some more information about this for the Intel driver change can be
found at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55834 and
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1309531/

Re: [Bug 833549] Re: Severe screen corruption after rotate the screen

2011-09-01 Thread Jammy Zhou
After rotate the screen, the calling sequence in compiz is as following:

PrivateScreen::configure
- PrivateScreen::reshape
- PrivateScreen::detectOutputDevices
- PrivateScreen::updateOutputDevices

In updateOutputDevices, screen-width() and screen-height() are
reversed, which caused the problem.
If the screen size should be updated in reshape(), it seems that the
width/height of the configure event in this case are not correct. So
is it a bug of X server?

As a workaround, my original patch can be changed to update screen
size only when the screen width is less then the output width or the
screen height is less then the output height.

2011/9/1 Sam Spilsbury smspil...@gmail.com

This patch makes no sense, it changes he total screen size to the size
of each monitor every single time we parse the geometry of a monitor. In
addition, we change the total screen size anyways on
PrivateScreen::reshape which is called whenever updateOutputDevices is
called (except whenever the user force overrides the output devices)

This patch also solved the problem in my side with fglrx driver. The
updateOutputDevices() is not triggered in detectOutputDevices for this
case, so we need to call updateOutputDevices explicitly.

[Bug 833549] Re: Severe screen corruption after rotate the screen

2011-08-26 Thread Jammy Zhou
It seems a compiz problem that only the desktop width is updated in
compiz, but the desktop height is not updated after rotate.

Following steps can simplify the problem.
- boot the system in text mode
- run X in remote terminal
- disable unity plugin in ccsm
- start compiz in remote terminal
- run xterm in remote terminal, and maximize xterm
- run xrandr --output xxx --rotate left in remote terminal, we can see that the
screen is rotated, and the right part of the screen is totally black (with
width of original screen width - original screen height)

[Bug 705689] Re: Qt applications crash with segfault error on armel when Qt is built with gcc 4.5 on natty

2011-02-28 Thread Jammy Zhou
I think I met a similar problem as mentioned in this thread.
What I do:
- use linaro image with toolchain Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-3ubuntu2 on imx51
- apply the IT patch, and build latest mainline qt locally on imx51 with gles2
enabled (-opengl es2)
- when run qtdemo and some other qt examples, segfault happens (not all qt
application crashed, such as hellogl_es2)

But after I replace some qt libraries with debug version (libQtCore,
libQtGui, libQtNetwork and libQtScript), the crash disappeared. So I
compared the release version and debug version libraries, it seems that
there is unpredictable branch in the IT block for release version, but
debug version doesn't have that, which is quite strange for me. Take
libQtScript for example:

For release version:
root@localhost:/mnt/qt-kde# objdump -d libQtScript.so.4.8.0 |grep unpredictable
   c6cfc: 4770bxlelr ; unpredictable branch in IT
block
   cf608: bf48it mi ; unpredictable IT:hi

For debug version: (with -debug configure option when build qt)
root@localhost:/mnt/qt-kde/build/lib# objdump -d libQtScript.so.4.8.0 |grep
unpredictable
root@localhost:/mnt/qt-kde/build/lib#

[Bug 664431] Re: QT on armel is built with NEON by default

2010-11-30 Thread Jammy Zhou
I think we need to centralize all NEON asm code in one or several files,
and build these source files with -mfpu=neon option, but for other
files, -mfpu=neon option should not be used when compiling.

[Bug 314600] Re: [HD 3650] fglrx versions newer than 8.543 cause system hang and panic

2009-10-10 Thread Jammy Zhou
Hi,
This platform specific issue may be caused by some potential system BIOS bug.
Can anyone dump the DSDT table of the system BIOS on HP EliteBook 8530p with
ATI Radeon HD 3650?

Regards,
Jammy

And could you please have a try to disable the BIOS option Fan always
ON on AC Power under System Config - Device Config and then verify
this issue again?

Regards,
Jammy
