[Bug 814833] Re: Opening the dash is very slow and laggy
I think I may have found something important. To see that effect too, please follow these steps: 1) Install these packages: sudo apt-get install compiz-plugins compizconfig-settings-manager. 2) Launch CompizConfig Settings Manager, search for Show Repaint plugin and switch it on. Hit the AltSuperR combo. 3) Now all the areas which are redrawed with last screen update should be rendered with another transparent color overlay. Try move some windows around and open/close menus to see how it works. Notice only damaged regions are repainted. If the colors are changing too fast for You, try to lower the framerate in the Composite plugin. 10 FPS should be fine. 4) Open the Dash and watch as the whole screen (!) is repainted with every (!) update; not only during the opening fade in animation, but actually all the time until dash is closed again. In fact even a single pixel that changed in the top panel, e.g. seconds in datetime indicator or indicator-multiload forces the whole screen repaint too. 5) Hit AltSuperR to again to end Your colorful bad trip. [Bug 968510] [NEW] Vino VNC server should be whitelisted for legacy systray for security reasons
Public bug reported: Vino, GNOME's default desktop sharing VNC server, doesn't display its icon in the legacy systray. There is an option in Vino's configuration dialog to show that icon in systray *only* when is somebody connected, so it's kind of security issue; especially when incoming connection confirmation is turned off. I just added preliminary support for icon themes. For now it works with Faenza theme only, otherwise it defaults to the classic look. It's still work in progress, which needs to be tested for readability with as broad sample of exe files as possible. If You are willing to help, please follow these instructions: 1) Install the attached tarball: sudo tar xjvf gnome-exe-thumbnailer-faenza.tar.bz2 -C / sudo gconf-schemas --register gnome-exe-thumbnailer.schemas 2) Manually switch to one of the Faenza icon themes (if it's not set already), or add Faenza as third parameter to the specific thumbnailer command: gconftool --set /desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-ms-dos-executable/command --type string /usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh %i %o Faenza gconftool --set /desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-msdownload/command --type string /usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh %i %o Faenza 3) Clear the thumbnail cache and restart Nautilus: nautilus -q; rm -r ~/.thumbnails; sleep 1; nautilus 4) Test test test. [Bug 651610] [NEW] Version number for .msi thumbnail is obtained from unreliable source
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-exe-thumbnailer The version number for .msi package thumbnail is currently obtained from parsed output of file $INPUTFILE, which displays Windows file metadata (Author, Subject, etc.). This is a very unreliable source, because this metadata can be easily altered or often doesn't contain version nuber (in the Subject field) at all. The real version number is hidden in key ProductVersion of table Property inside the MSI package, which is in fact a very simple relation database. Value of this key can be easily obtained by this VB script: Dim WI, DB, View, Record Set WI = CreateObject(WindowsInstaller.Installer) Set DB = WI.OpenDatabase($INPUTFILE,0) Set View = DB.OpenView(SELECT Value FROM Property WHERE Property = 'ProductVersion') View.Execute Wscript.Echo View.Fetch.StringData(1) but the user must have both Wine and wsh57 (Microsoft Windows Script Host 5.7) installed, which is rather rare case. [Bug 648200] Re: Please provide a copy of the license with the source
As the main author of current gnome-exe-thumbnailer, I didn't thought about the licence yet, but I supposed it should be GPLv3 all the time. Scott Ritchie is reviewing the brand new, yet unreleased version at this moment, which came with lot of bugfixes and new features as Vista icons support and basic .msi files thumbnailing with version number label from extended file properties (more reliable version number from ProductVersion MSI property will came in next version). I will ask Scott (I suppose he would be reading this anyway) to hold the release for a moment and include the proper license. [Bug 570604] Re: resume after suspend on HP EliteBook 8440p
It's Intel Ironlake/Arrandale graphics. This bug must be the same as https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=597141 , but apparently Fedora guys found a fix for in their 2.6.34.2-32.rc1.fc13 kernel. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #597141 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=597141 -- resume after suspend on HP EliteBook 8440p https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570604 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 604391] Re: gnome-exe-thumbnailer 0.4-0ubuntu1~lucidppa2: version label is hard to read
Seems like I have finally solved this issue by using the -*-clean- medium-r-*-*-6-*-*-*-*-*-*-* x11 font. Good readability, and it can't any smaller. ** Attachment added: exe-thumbnails-showcase-fixed.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/51891413/exe-thumbnails-showcase-fixed.png -- gnome-exe-thumbnailer 0.4-0ubuntu1~lucidppa2: version label is hard to read https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/604391 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Shame on me that I don't know how to create a patch, so I'm posting the whole script. ** Attachment added: gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh http://launchpadlibrarian.net/51891510/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh -- gnome-exe-thumbnailer 0.4-0ubuntu1~lucidppa2: version label is hard to read https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/604391 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
