[Bug 1859290] [NEW] Virtualbox no usb devices
Public bug reported: With virtualbox 6.1 on 20.04 (Whether from repos, or from oracle) usb devices are not recognized by a user who has been added to vboxusers group. I noticed the ubuntu package does not create udev rules file, but oracle package does, yet they both have the same behavior anyway, and do not seem to change permissions on newly added usb devices, nor create the device files with vboxuser group permissions. Running as root allows access to usb devices, so it seems to be a permissions issue. [Bug 1547559] Re: Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs
Stumbled across this today while searching for a fix for a PC running 16.04 that this is happening on. I don't understand why, but editing /etc/default/grub to uncomment the line for graphical terminal fixed it. What that has to do with mounting root I don't know, but that was certainly the fix. I noticed that I could hold shift and select the same kernel, with the same command line options, under the advanced menu and get the system to boot. [Bug 1436330] [NEW] Network Manager doesn't set metric for local networks any more, causing connection issues
Public bug reported: With Vivid, having two connections to the same network subnet is unstable due to missing metrics for local networks. Example: Being connected to 192.168.1.0/24 via both wired and wireless will cause connectivity issues as sent packets hop between the two interfaces. It used to be that this wasn't an issue. I would go between work and home and plug in and my machine would automatically connect to wireless and it would use the lower metric ethernet interface for all communications, while the wlan interface would remain connected but unused. [Bug 1315969] [NEW] ftp connections via kde apps take extremely long
Public bug reported: There is a long delay starting FTP connections from KDE apps. Same behavior with krusader, konqueror, rekonq and dolphin. Immediately after establishing a connection with networkmanager FTP connections are immediate. After letting some time pass the following message appears in syslog and the FTP connections (and thus the program trying to establish the connection) hang upon connect: May 4 20:25:16 viper1 dbus[568]: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.nm_dispatcher' (using servicehelper) May 4 20:25:16 viper1 dbus[568]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.nm_dispatcher' Honestly, I'm not sure if this is a dbus, or network manager issue, but the kde apps are the only ones I've found affected. I've tried setting the max resolution with lpadmin to 300 which seems to make no difference in speed. [Bug 456954] [NEW] KDE notifications in karmic do not play completely
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-runtime The KDE notifications (knotify?) do not play the complete sounds, only the first 1-2 seconds of a sound. If you choose to use an external player such as mplayer it works fine, but still unable to hit the play button on the configuration page for the event. for example, if I set powerdevil event for AC unplugged to play /usr/share/sounds/k3b_error.wav and hit the play button to the left of the file name it will play about a second of the sound. Setting the system to use mplayer will allow the actual event to play completely, but the preview still only plays 1 second. Kalarm seems to use phonon directly for it's sound events and therefore will not play the complete sound on an alarm event. I've tried rm'ing the config files for phonon and knotifyrc from the .kde/share/config dirs to start with defaults, still does it. I'm using the xine backend, xine itself (via gui) plays the same file completely, all other sound works. ** Affects: kdebase-runtime (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- KDE notifications in karmic do not play completely https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456954 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 303595] Re: Gsynaptics loses settings on resume
Pedro Ângelo, I added the script I wrote to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad, but the wiki formatting system kicked out the #!/bin/bash for some reason. Did you get it to run okay after adding the magic line? I've been running it on mine now since I wrote it without any issues. -- Gsynaptics loses settings on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303595 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 303595] Re: Gsynaptics loses settings on resume
I just wrote a script for /etc/pm/sleep.d that will run gsynaptics-init for all users with an X session running, so it won't matter if you're running multiple X sessions :), everyone can have their own settings, and won't cause a delay with the sleep command while waiting for X to resume. Here it is if anyone wants to work/tweak or include it with the gsynaptics package: #!/bin/bash # Only run on resume/thaw if [[ ${1} =~ (thaw|resume) ]] ; then synaptics() { # sleep to give time for X sleep 4s who | while read line ; do a=(${line}) regex=^:[[:digit:]] if [[ ${a[1]} =~ $regex ]] ; then init=sudo -H -u ${a[0]} DISPLAY=${a[1]} gsynaptics-init fi done } # run in background so sleep doesn't hold up resume synaptics # disown the job so exiting shell doesn't kill function disown %1 fi -- Gsynaptics loses settings on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303595 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

oops - I pasted the one that had the eval removed for debugging :) the if statement should read: if [[ ${a[1]} =~ $regex ]] ; then init=sudo -H -u ${a[0]} DISPLAY=${a[1]} gsynaptics-init eval ${init} fi -- Gsynaptics loses settings on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303595 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
