[Bug 1243837] Re: Restart in the main menu does a logout instead

2013-10-23 Thread Jesusfreak
It does not happen all the time. I cannot say how this is connected to
suspend/hibernate at the moment but will do further tests.

The package systemd-shim is installed on my system.

[Bug 1238635] [NEW] Inconsistent logic of file navigation

2013-10-11 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

There are several situations in Thunar where consistency of behaviour is
lacking:

1. Go to any directory with some files or directories in it and delete a
file with 'del'. Now there is no selection of a file or directory. With
'Cursor down' I get the selection of the entry at the top of the list. I
would expect to get to the bottom here.

2. Go to any directory with some files or directories in it and delete a
file with 'del'. Now there is no selection of a file or directory. With
'pos 1' I get sort of a semi-selection of the entry at the top of the
list (slightly more dark with a thin frame ). It is not possible to
rename or delete the entry in this semi-selected state, but I can enter
with 'enter'. Adding a 'Cursor Up' or 'Cursor Down' brings you to fully
select the entry. Mind that 'end' instead of 'pos 1' brings you to the
bottom entry of the list with full selection as one would expect.

3. Go to any directory with some files or directories in it. Choose sort
order a-z for the name. Create a folder 'a' and rename it to 'z'. Now
the first entry in the list is semi-selected and the folder I just
renamed to 'z' is fully selected. With 'F2' or 'del' I can operate on
the fully selected Folder ('z'), with 'enter' I enter the semi-selected
folder.

[Bug 1177439] Re: Firefox freezes temporarily

2013-07-05 Thread Jesusfreak
I have a couple of weeks of experience now and can say for sure that
this bug also shows up when using other applications, not just in
Firefox. Mostly it occurs when I do things like opening a menu,
switching between applications windows etc. So filing the bug against
Firefox was probably wrong.

There has been no activity here for about 6 weeks. Is there anything I
can provide to help fixing this bug. It is really annoying and I would
like to see this solved soon.

Since the update to firefox 20.0 which came with ubuntu 13.04 my firefox

[Bug 1142778] Re: Calc takes a very long time to load document

2013-03-03 Thread Jesusfreak
With the help of gnumeric I have found out now that cell F7 contains an
emailaddress followed by some abnormal content (see screenshot
attached). With calc I can see the email address but not the rubbish
that follows. It is possible to just delete the email address in a way
the cell looks empty but is not really. When I delete all the content of
this cell everything works as expected.

[Bug 1142778] [NEW] Calc takes a very long time to load document

2013-03-03 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

Have a look at the example.ods attached. The process of opening it takes
80 seconds on my system, though the size is just 8.7 kB. The example.ods
was originally my file for personal contacts which at one point started
to misbehave as described. I have deleted all the other tabs and all the
content visible now. However, there seems to be something left
somewhere. When I do CTRL+A Delete and save the problem disappears. I
would expect that something like this should not happen.

[Bug 1132531] Re: Error in date format for Wednesday

2013-02-24 Thread Jesusfreak
Thanks for the explanation. I just had no idea what ### could mean - its
not very intuitive. I do know that cells with the format Number/General
have a small red arrow at the right edge when content does not fit. This
is much easier to understand and I was expecting this here as well.

[Bug 1060853] [NEW] tiff2pdf fails on tiff with jpeg compression

2012-10-03 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

I have a tiff file with jpeg compression which I want to convert to pdf. For
this I use the line:
"tiff2pdf -j -o out.pdf out.tif"
The result is a pdf file with an empty page. Using option -n instead generates
a readable pdf but blows up size to 8,2 MB, option -d results in an empty page.
When using LZW compression everything works as expected.

[Bug 1035898] [NEW] Resizing terminal window overwrites desktop and panel

2012-08-12 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

When I resize the terminal window at one of the 4 edges or one of the 4
corners I get a "shadow" window which destroys part of the desktop
including the panel (see pics attached). The panel can be repaired via
mouse over. This is reproducable always.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 883485 ***

I can also confirm this bug for the mute button of the external
keyboard. When I use the internal mute button of my Thinkpad instead it
doesn't work at all, neither mute nor unmute is possible here.

[Bug 1022265] [NEW] gpicview terminates when trying to save jpg

2012-07-08 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

When I open the image "test.jpg" attached, rotate it 90 degrees and try
to save it gpicview terminates. For some reason it also generates an
empty file of the kind "test.jpg.cnya5C" (the part after the last dot is
different every time) in the same folder. Mind that this problem occurs
with 90 degree rotation only, not with 180 and neither with the mirror
tool. When I start gpicview form the terminal it exits with the error
message "Bogus virtual array access".

[Bug 992486] Re: xpdf crashes opening document

2012-06-07 Thread Jesusfreak
I have a similar problem with the document
http://archive.org/download/philosinductsci01wewrich/philosinductsci01wewrich.pdf
. Xpdf crashes shortly after it opens the file and shows the first page.
This is reproduceable always. I was able to open the document with
evince, though evince is extremely slow in opening it. I also tested
this with FoxitReader 5.1.4.0104 and Windows XP and here everything
works fine.

[Bug 1002300] [NEW] mute button on internal keyboard not working

2012-05-21 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

I use a Thinkpad R500 with an external keybord (Logitech G230). The G230
also has the special keys for volume up/down/mute and they work fine,
including the on screen display. What does not work is the mute button
of the integrated keyboard of the Thinkpad. I found out about it today
when sound stopped working entirely after fiddeling with the special
keys on the external keyboard.

[Bug 942531] [NEW] Mogrify disrespects compression mode of tif files

2012-02-28 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

I have a batch of .tif files with jpeg compression which I want to scale
down to 50 %. I do "mogrify -scale 50% *.tif" and get files scaled down
to the correct size but compression is switched off for all of them. I
know that there is an option for compression type but I think if no
option is given the compression mode of the original file should stay
the way it was before.

[Bug 941470] [NEW] Resolution for external monitor missing in list for DFP1

2012-02-26 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

I use a Thinkpad R500 (1680x1050) with a docking station and an external
monitor (1920x1200) attached to it. When I boot the Thinkpad and later
attach it to the docking station, then the highest resolution in the
arandr DFP1 list is 1600x1200. This means I have to reboot the system,
as a boot right from the docking station gives me the 1920x1200 I need
for the external monitor.

I also want to point out that this has worked well for a long time,
until I had to reinstall my Xubuntu a couple of weeks ago.

[Bug 884145] [NEW] Gimp destroyes image file when trying to save as .tif with jpeg compression

2011-10-31 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

To reproduce the bug follow these steps

1. Start Gimp and open the example-before.tif with LZW compression attached
below
2. Go to Image -> Mode -> Indexed, choose "Generate optimum palette -> Maximum
number of colors", change the value from 256 to 16 and hit "Convert" button
3. Go to File -> Save, replace the file and change compression to jpeg
4. Now a message appears saying:
TIFF image Message
PhotometricInterpretation 3 not allowed for JPEG
TIFF image Message
Failed a scanline write on row 0
GIMP Message
Saving '/home/myname/example-after.tif' failed:
TIFF image plug-in could not save image
5. The file with the image on the disc now has a size of 8 bytes and cannot be
opened or viewed anymore (see the example-after.tif attached)

[Bug 880024] [NEW] Cannot scroll image when zoom is 100 %

2011-10-22 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

I use gPicView to view batches of .tif images. I have found that there
are images which I cannot view properly when I adjust the zoom to 100 %.
To be more precise, I cannot view the lower part of the picture, only
the upper part no matter where the scroll bar is. If I zoom in or out
everything works fine, its just the 100 % which does not work.

[Bug 781654] Re: Fan turns at high speed all the time

2011-10-10 Thread Jesusfreak
Yes, the START=yes is there in /etc/default/thinkfan.
After reporting the bug I found that thinkfan does work properly from time to
time and then I don't have to start it manually. I have no idea when and why
this is the case but what I can say is that also the energy saving mechanism
which switches off the screen after 10 mins or so is not working at the same
time and only at the same time.

[Bug 801919] [NEW] Not able to access subfolder in imap account

2011-06-25 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

I changed my email account from pop3 to imap today. In the inbox of the old
pop3-account there are a lot of subfolders. After creating the imap-account in
thunderbird I started to copy all the subfolders from the pop3-inbox to the
imap-inbox. Doing so I get an error message when trying to access the subfolder
last copied to the imap-inbox.
The error message is: "Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have
exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server. If so use the
Advanced IMAP-Server settings dialog to reduce the number of cached connections"
This happens after the copying process is finished, regardless of the size of
the subfolder and happens everytime. The only way I have found to solve this
problem is by restarting Thunderbird.

2011-06-05 Thread Jesusfreak

I have to correct myself. Version installed is 10.10. The error occurs
since I updated shortly after the last release day.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thinkfan

I have a Thinkpad r500 which had working fan control til the update to
11.04. Now the fan turns constantly at about 3000 rpm. An effect of
temperature or cpu usage is not recogniseable anymore.

[Bug 769170] Re: "Failed to lock to channel" only on 1st try per channel (after reboot)

2011-05-02 Thread Jesusfreak
I have tried "me-tv --read-timeout 20" but that did not help. Do higher
values have any effect? What do you recommend?

The lsusb output of the DVB-T device I use is:

[Bug 769170] [NEW] "Failed to lock to channel" only on 1st try per channel (after reboot)

2011-04-22 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: me-tv

I am able to receive 12 tv programs which come in groups of 4 for each
channel. After a reboot I always get the error message "Failed to lock
to channel". When I quit me-tv and restart it again I can watch the tv
program which failed before and I am able to switch to any of the 4
programs in this channel. When I try to switch to a tv program of one of
the 2 other channels I get the error message above again. An exit and
restart of me-tv then allows me to watch all 4 programs of this channel.
Same procedure with the 3rd channel. This is reproduceable always.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10
Package: me-tv 1.3.1-1
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-28.50-generic 2.6.35.11

[Bug 755601] [NEW] Impossible to login with my work account using xfce

2011-04-09 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

Since today I have the problem of not beeing able to login with my work
account using xfce. Everytime I try I get back to the login manager. My
guess is that this has to do with the update which came in today or
yesterday.

I have tried a couple of things now:

1. I am able to login via the command line with any account I want.
2. Other login managers like slim, kdm, lxdm don't work either with this
account and xfce
3. I am able to login to lxde with any account I want, but not xfce, not gnome.
3. With a newly created user account everything works perfect with xfce, lxde
4. Deleting /.config/xfce4 does not improve anything.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10
Package: gdm 2.30.5-0ubuntu4.1
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-28.49-generic 2.6.35.11

[Bug 754618] [NEW] Failed to open home directory

2011-04-08 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunar

Occasionally I get the following error message when trying to access my
home folder with thunar (1.2.1):

"Failed to open directory "myname". Error stating file
'/home/myname/.gvfs': Transport endpoint is not connected."

At the same time its no problem to access the home folder with other
file managers like nautilus. I should add that I use an encrypted home
partition (sdb1) while my root partition is on a seperate partition
(sda1). When this error occurs I usually reboot to fix it.

[Bug 288143] Re: grandr won't set up multiple screens

2011-03-02 Thread Jesusfreak
I have the same problem on the Thinkpad r500 with an external display in
extended mode connected via VGA. I did add the SubSection in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf but still get the same error. What else can be done
about this problem?
