[Bug 800637] [NEW] Firefox 5 shouldn't be a security upgrade to Firefox 4

2011-06-22 Thread Jimmy Hedman

[Bug 800637] Re: Firefox 5 shouldn't be a security upgrade to Firefox 4

2011-06-22 Thread Jimmy Hedman
I don't see a problem with releasing the latest Firefox as a separate
package so that I can choose to have the latest. What I like to have is
a web-browser that my plugins work today the same way they worked
yesterday, that's the reason for to run the supplied version in the
first place.

2011-06-22 Thread Jimmy Hedman
The specific plugin I had problem with was firebug, but that's besides the
point.
The job you are describing is the exact same job that I expect a distribution
to do, and that have been done so far by the Ubuntu team. I can't really see
why this should be a problem now.

[Bug 384791] Re: Turn on browsing

2009-10-03 Thread Jimmy Hedman
Reading on http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/ref-cupsd-conf.html#Browsing
gives that it should be safe to turn on browsing since it doesn't turn on
sharing of the local printers.
Having Browsing On simplifies for the client to add printers that is
browsable on other machines, for example print servers.

[Bug 408888] Re: Karmic series kernel won't load encrypted main disk after upgrade from jaunty

2009-09-18 Thread Jimmy Hedman
I've compared my initrd with an initrd from a fresh install and both my
upgraded and freshly installed has the UUID-crap in /etc/crypttab and
as the root-option to the kernel.

[Bug 408888] Re: Karmic series kernel won't load encrypted main disk after upgrade from jaunty

2009-09-01 Thread Jimmy Hedman
I got the exact same problem, could boot on one of my old kernels but not the
newly installed.
I did an update to Karmic from Jaunty with aptitude and changed the
/etc/apt/sources.list to use Karmic insted.

Can I solve this by hand? I really like to try the 2.6.31 kernel from
Karmic Koala.

[Bug 384791] [NEW] Turn on browsing

2009-06-08 Thread Jimmy Hedman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

When having a printer server it makes sense to have Browsing On (instead of
Browsing Off).
I find no reason to have it turned off when running a single system.

[Bug 373656] [NEW] Change dependency of pcmciautils from Depends to Recommends for ubuntu-desktop

2009-05-08 Thread Jimmy Hedman
Public bug reported:

Not all machines need pcmciautils and it could safely be removed. This
makes ubuntu-desktop (and it's counterparts xubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-
desktop and such) to be removed as well. I suggest changing their
dependency from Depends to Recommends.
