[Bug 1314377] [NEW] Random high CPU usage with a minimal loop

2014-04-29 Thread João Pinto
Public bug reported:

I have found this issue while developing a small game. I have now tested with a
minimal pygame loop and the problem can be reproduced (randomly).
After a few minutes running the python process CPU usage from the running
pygame loop jumps from 10% to =100%.
The gdb trace info when it happens:

[Bug 884210] Re: PCI/internal sound not working randomly, random hangs: cannot set freq 16000 to ep 0x86 shown in syslog

2012-03-28 Thread João Pinto
I am sorry but I am still experiencing the problem using the
3.2.0-20.32.

This is a random issue, not something that you can reliably validate
with a few boots, unless you have a specific diff/patch/description of a
fix please do not change the status to Incomplete again.

Thanks

2011-11-08 Thread João Pinto
After some research I have found that there is a quirk required for some USB
devices audio to work properly, source:
http://pkgbuild.com/~heftig/linux-zen/usb-add-reset-resume-quirk-for-several-webcams.patch
I am now rebuilding Oneiric's kernel with the USB_QUIRK_RESET_RESUME for my
webcam model, will report the results.

[Bug 574296] Re: Gnome theme not applied on session start

2010-12-31 Thread João Pinto
din99,
thanks for your willingness to help resolving this bugs, but your assessment is
incorrect, please read the previous comments before adding your own to a bug
report, many of the reports for this bug just as for bug 439448 are from people
with a single home, single release configuration.

There maybe issues resulting from running multiple releases with a
shared home, that is related to how different application versions
manage their data/settings, such issues (which seems to be your case)
are not related to the bugs being reported.

[Bug 669270] Re: X crash attempting to open a VBox VM properties

2010-11-01 Thread João Pinto
I do have the TV plugged into the HDMI connector but it is disabled on the
display manager config because I don't use it.
I was unable to reproduce the crash with another app, please note that the bug
is always reproducible with virtualbox, I am unable to use it.
I have assumed it was fgrlx related because I guess being xorg-server related
would affect much more people and would be known/fixed at this time

Thanks

[Bug 569680] Re: Hard disk write/read freezes for 10 seconds several times in session

2010-10-28 Thread João Pinto
I gave a try to Fedora 13 and I did not experienced the problem, based
on the fact that Fedora uses 2.6.33 I decided to test the
2.6.33-02063306-generic from the mainline kernel builds. I was not able
to reproduce the problem yet, this is likely a bug introduced with
2.6.33+ .

Also I don't experience this issue with a different OS, so it's very
unlikely to be a cabling issue.

[Bug 367166] Re: [needs-packaging] ignuit

2010-08-28 Thread João Pinto
The Debian mentor packages has some issues building on Ubuntu:
It's installing gconf/schemas/ into /usr/etc which is not the expected
location, it should be /usr/share .
debian/rules is long, it is much easier to read with a simple 3 lines default
debhelper 7 rules:
#!/usr/bin/make -f
%:
dh $@

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-07-13 Thread João Pinto
Manuel,
I am going to add an extra irrelevant comment because I really believe the
comments for this bug turned into a hardly useful posting of random experiences.
Please do not bring bug managements problems that you may have experienced on
other bugs to this one. This bug clearly affects a lot of people, there is a
proper function to report, which is Affects me.
Redundant and poor information is worse than no information, because it leads
people to consume significant time reading the comments, without any comments
they can use that time to troublehsoot and post useful info.

This is not an issue of different ideas, this is really a matter of
understanding if your post will provide any value to the bug analysis.
All of us we are affected would like to participate on the bug
resolution, that does not mean we have the ability to do so.

Thanks

[Bug 524190] Re: [needs-packaging] WebcamStudio For GNU/Linux

2010-07-11 Thread João Pinto
Pereki87,
I suggest you to read:
http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct

Be respectful. The Ubuntu community and its members treat one another
with respect. Everyone can make a valuable contribution to Ubuntu. We
may not always agree, but disagreement is no excuse for poor behaviour
and poor manners. We might all experience some frustration now and then,
but we cannot allow that frustration to turn into a personal attack.
It's important to remember that a community where people feel
uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one. We expect members
of the Ubuntu community to be respectful when dealing with other
contributors as well as with people outside the Ubuntu project and with
users of Ubuntu.

The fact that there was an error and the filesystem was not mounted is

The fact that the boot stopped *even in recovery mode*, is related to

mounted and causing an error instead.

Scott,
The mount.vboxfs is provided by the virtualbox-guest-additions package.

The issue here is that the vboxsf file system type depends on the module
vboxfs kernel module which is only loaded later from /etc/init.d
/virtualbox-ose-guest-utils .

Sensiva,
a workaround is to mount the filesystem from /etc/rc.local using:
sudo mount -t vboxsf share mountpoint

I have kept the bug open for mountall just to track the feedback on how
should this modular filesystems should be handed from a mountall
perspective.

[Bug 530179] Re: [lucid] vboxsf mounts defined on /etc/fstab cause errors on boot

2010-04-20 Thread João Pinto
I will attempt to provide a patch to replace the current
/etc/init.d/virtualbox-ose-guest-utils with an upstart job.
According to Scott's feedback the start should be something like:
start on starting mountall
task
exec modprobe vboxsf
