[Bug 367742] [NEW] only execute mktexlsr/updmap-sys/... once per update

2009-04-27 Thread Jochen Eisinger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tex-common

I'd like to suggest to modify all tex packages in such a way that
mktexlsr/updmap-sys/... etc is only invoked once at the end of an apt
run (this would imho seriously speed up an apt-get install texlive-full
for example).

I'm reporting this bug to this package, since most of the postinst
scripts seem to be generated by dh_installtex which is included in this
package.

Yes, it is still an issue.

And no, I wouldn't mind a bit more activitiy!

[Bug 283630] Re: [Intrepid] Wacom Graphire doesn't work at all

2008-10-31 Thread Jochen Eisinger
I just found https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom which suggests that
the tablet is working but most input devices are enabled. I was to tired
to test whether the alternative manual setup works, will do so this
evening.

[Bug 283630] Re: [Intrepid] Wacom Graphire doesn't work at all

2008-10-30 Thread Jochen Eisinger
I have the same problem, but I want to add the following observation:

in the output of xsetpointer -l, the wacom graphire3 tablet shows up as
xextensionkeyboard. It should be an xextensionpointer (I think).

[Bug 218439] Re: CPU load randomly hits 100%; XMPP random reconnects

2008-09-05 Thread Jochen Eisinger
If you strace pidgin, you will see that it tries to read from a socket
which is closed, but this fact is ignored. When pidgin hangs, strace is
an endless repetition of:

[pid 19682] poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6,
events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=15, events=POLLIN}, {fd=18,
events=POLLIN}, {fd=17, events=POLLIN}, {fd=16, events=POLLIN,
revents=POLLIN}], 8, 0) = 1
[pid 19682] recv(16, , 5, 0)  = 0
[pid 19682] read(3, 0x812ebd4, 4096)= -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)
[pid 19682] gettimeofday({1220648322, 974206}, NULL) = 0

There's a fix in the upstream version for this:

[Bug 245793] [NEW] pidgin does not wait for the menubar to load on startup

2008-07-05 Thread Jochen Eisinger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Pidgin internally has visibility managers. There always has to be at
least one. If you start pidgin at session startup, the visibility
manager representing the docklet will first be registered, when the
dockbar is completely loaded.

This causes two problems:

1. even if you set the buddy list to auto-hide using the extended preferences
plugin, the buddy list will show at startup (the buddy list is also a
visibility manager)
2. if you close the buddy list before the dockbar has completely loaded, pidgin
will quit (this is reported several times as pidgin crashes when closed after
startup)

[Bug 162476] udev wait_for_sysfs doesn't wait long enough for all usb mass-storage devices to be handled correctly by hald

2007-11-13 Thread Jochen Eisinger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: udev

The WAIT_FOR_SYSFS udev rule in 113-ubuntu16 waits only for 3 seconds.
This may result in the hotplug event being sent to hal to early which in
turn hinders the device from being automounted.

There are two work-arounds available from upstream:

* wait for 10 seconds:

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/hotplug/udev.git;a=commit;h=39ea7c6c67de69379b603196a0eff6f7ce2e469a

* don't delay the creation of scsi related sysfs files

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=bfd129445f23c037d9a440ebfa4109e11c220301

since the latter requires a kernel modification, I guess the first would
be a better option, and so I reported this against udev instead of
kernel.
