[Bug 60764] Re: Large file transfer gives error: Corrupted MAC on input
Yes, this is indeed a very embarrassing driver problem, where the hardware TCP offloading in the driver seems to corrupt frames that use SSL. The bug has been reported over 2½ year ago, and nobody seem to have what it takes to get it fixed, or the guts to increase the priority so it will reach the right people. This affects many PC's, i therefore think that TCP offloading should be disabled per. default until the bug gets fixed in the kernel. -- Large file transfer gives error: Corrupted MAC on input https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/60764 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 180792] Re: SA 2007-003: Denial of service in OpenAFS fileserver
About repackaging: Since this is a bug against the fileserver, I would say that our primary focus should be on getting a fix for dapper. Also Gutsy is of some importance since i do belevie that there is some people out there running gutsy servers. Considering that i have never done any .deb packaging, it would take me a long time to find the relevant security patch from 1.4.5 to 1.4.6, apply it to 1.4.1-2 (dapper) and repackage. Perhaps with some help from Russ to find the actual patch i will give it a go. Another option: What about debian stable? Is 1.4.2-6 (etch) going to be patched, if so, can we draw from the effort there? Perhaps not relevant: The kernel modules for edgy is broken. This is an old bug which has been closed with a backport release, which essentially does not solve the problem for non-backport users and fresh installs. I'm not sure how many edgy clients are still out here, so perhaps it's not worth the effort. But it should receive both a security patch for the fileserver, and version upgrade to 1.4.4 at least in order to make the kernel modules compile. Also: Don't forget the security issue 2007-001 (#94787) with all versions 1.4.4, so in fact we should create two patches for dapper. Either that, or we figure out a way to get 1.4.6 to work on dapper, what do you guys say? -- SA 2007-003: Denial of service in OpenAFS fileserver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/180792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 180788] Re: Please change: Don't build on lpia arch.
The makefile or deb-build script uses uname -m to determine the architecture, and upstream needs to add LPIA to the different build scripts and create an achitecture-config file before it will be supported. [Bug 129480] Re: OpenAFK kernel module won't build with linux-rt kernel
This problem also appears for builds on Sparc64. It seems to come from a problem with the architecture specific system-call tables. There is a workaround available: go to your /usr/src/linux or whereever you have your linux-headers installed, then open scripts/mod/modpost.c and do a search for GPL-incompatible you will find two lines around line nr 1100 which says fatal('GPL-incompatible.') - go on an change the word fatal to warn. Then save and close the file. Still standing in /usr/src/linux now run make scripts to recompile the modpost script. This workaround enables the module to be loaded, at least for sparc64. Futhermore it does actually seem to work, i have seen no problems so far with 1.4.5 in ubntu 8.10 installed with this workaround. ** Changed in: openafs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- OpenAFK kernel module won't build with linux-rt kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129480 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 144402] 2px border around tabs in ephiphany in maximised window should be removed.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: epiphany See the attached screenshot for reference: When browsing with maximised windows in ephiphany the window border is removed in both the left and right side og the window, thereby putting the vertical scrollbar all the way to the screen edge. This makes it very easy to catch the scroll-bar with the mouse because it's horizontal size is theoretically infinite. (See Fitts law). When another tab is opened in the browser, the tab-widget introduces a 2px frame around the whole content frame, thereby moving the scrollbars away from the edge of the screen, and thus making it harder to hit vertical the scrollbar. The widget should be modifyable, so that the vertical borders can be removed in ephiphany. ** Affects: epiphany (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 2px border around tabs should be removed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Nick, that sounds great! But what do you mean by reiterate our requests individually, and what information are you suggesting that we are missing at the present time? Another question, about the maintainer. Sam Hartman is listed here, but he hasn't been really active on the bug-reports. I think we need somebody who can change priority of the bugs. Anyone who knows Sam that can answer to this? Russ has already given an answer, but how be it that Sam is listed as maintainer, when he's in fact not... If we can't find a maintainer, maybe we should assign the source package to the MOTU group or something insted, so we at least have a possibility to have some control... -- openafs kernel modules don't build with edgy kernel 2.6.17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52298 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 52298] Re: openafs kernel modules don't build with edgy kernel 2.6.17
After a somewhat lenghty discussion on #ubuntu-motu, it has been established, that it's probably not a good idea to try a SRU, since the shift from 1.4.1 to a newer version will probably be rejected. Instead, it was decided to try and get 1.4.4 into backports. I'm currently looking into this, but am not sure entirely what to do. I guess allee has already proven that the 1.4.4 modules source from feisty can compile with the 2.6.17 kernel included in edgy. As far as i understand, this is enough to post a backport request. I will therefore try to do the same as allee, and build the feisty modules on edgy and test them. If i succeed i will post a backport request.
Thank you Nick. I also successfully built the feisty modules and tested the Client. I browsed an image library constantly for about 1 hour, and everything seemed to work. I haven't tested the server components on edgy, but I am running 1.4.4-1 on a feisty server and they work great there as well... I did however run into a problem with unloading the openafs kernel module. This is a known bug (debian #417917) - and not relevant to the backporting issue since it also apply for 1.4.2. The problem appeared only on my QEMU test machine, and not on my friends edgy-laptop where i tried the same. All in all, 1.4.4-1 seems to fix _A LOT_ of issues with openafs posted over the last couple of months, and the initial tests done by Nick, Allee and Björn suggests that 1.4.4-1 is working in edgy. I only feel that somebody should test the server packages before we submit the backport request? [Bug 103177] Re: boot-time race condition initializing md
What Jeff is describing is exactly what happens. I just have to wait a few seconds, then the sd? devices and the /dev/md0 is created automatically. I can then press ctrl+d to continue. It's like it just needs a few extra seconds to find the drives before mdadm tries to assemble it. To answer your question more specifically: Yes, it does assemble md0 before i press ctrl+d. - Tomorrow i'll have physical access to the machine again, and i can try to record a little movie of it happening. Please ask if you have further questions. This is a urgent bug that needs to be fixed before feisty release. -- boot-time race condition initializing md https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/103177 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 103177] Re: boot-time race condition initializing md
Same problem here: The mdadm tries to assemble /dev/md0 before /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1 appears. Workaround: 1) Boot kernel with break=mount (This causes the initramfs to pause somewhere before mdadm but after udev) 2) Wait a few seconds while udev detects /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1 3) Press Ctrl-D to continue startup, mdadm can now assemble /dev/md0 I suppose the sleep 10 workaround in one of the initramfs files will solve my problem, but i was hoping for something cleaner to show up. -- boot-time race condition initializing md https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/103177 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
