[Bug 1631175] Re: Xfce Power Manager turns screen back on after it turns off - on a netbook with Lubuntu

[Bug 1631175] [NEW] Xfce Power Manager turns screen back on after it turns off - on a netbook with Lubuntu
Public bug reported: I have a netbook with Lubuntu 16.04.1(Yes, I know this is the Ubuntu launchpad, but this mainly has something to do with Xfce power manager), and it's called "MSI Wind U120". I've noticed something with the Power Manager. By default, the screen is set to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity, on battery. But, when the screen is turned off, it'll turn back on [almost] immediately after, and then the Brightness level notification pops up. I've also tried this command in the terminal: "xset dpms force off,"(tells the screen to turn off) and got the same result as said above. Is anyone else having this problem also? Version as needed: Xfce Power Manager 1.4.4. This was created based on a question on this (One of mine, I was suggested to). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1631175 Title: Xfce Power Manager turns screen back on after it turns off - on a netbook with Lubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1631175/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1581535] Re: libnl upgrade breaks Network Manager
Just want to add a clarifying bit: Martin Pitt in #5 stated that he removed the libnl3 update from trusty-proposed, but I got hit with this on 14.04 and I do *not* have the -proposed repositories enabled. I can confirm I am running network-manager 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.2. In my case, it looks like the libnl upgrade was "available" before the n-m upgrade, and it broke. Oddly enough n-m is listed (in synaptic) as having another version available (7.3), but this wasn't caught by the Software Updater app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581535 Title: libnl upgrade breaks Network Manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnl3/+bug/1581535/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1581617] [NEW] upgrade of libnl-genl-3-200 causes networkmanager to not load
Public bug reported: This morning, before leaving for work, I saw there was a update available for a package in Ubuntu 14.04 (I do NOT have the -proposed repositories enabled). I installed it and shutdown. When I got to work, no internet (network-manager won't load, there's a general protection error in dmesg). Looking at the apt log /var/cache/apt/history , it looks like libnl- genl-3-200 was updated (and that was the *only* package that was updated). After loading up synaptic, there are other "upgradable" packages, none of which got installed (or were listed) when I upgraded libnl- genl-3-200: gir1.2-netowrkmanager-1.0 libmm-glib0 libnm-glib-vpn1 libnm-glib4 libnm-util2 modemmanager netowrk-manager However, without the internet, I can't get these packages! Please help! I *did* have an older version of libnl-genl-3-200 in /var/apt/cache/archives (from Jan 29), but installing this and restarting networkmanager (or the machine) does not fix the issue. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581617 Title: upgrade of libnl-genl-3-200 causes networkmanager to not load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1581617/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1069259] [NEW] 12.04 freezing at login screen
Public bug reported: I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with the Lubuntu desktop on a HP Pavilion dm1 notebook. Lubuntu desktop normally used. Booting has occurred normally but following login into the Lubuntu desktop a message would appear stating that Ubuntu 21.04 had a system error. The system worked fine hence this message was ignored. Then recently the occasional freeze at booting commenced - with the mouse driven cursor functioning OK but the login screen buttons frozen as was the password entry box. Re booting once normally got the notebook up and running. On the 19 Oct I made use of ubuntu-bug and avivotool - resulting in the generation of a number of updates which were installed. At a later booting the Update Manager highlighted 9 updates of 6.1MB (clam updates plus), mouse became non functional, hand control of mouse was OK, then it too became non functional. Rebooted into Lubuntu desktop and UM buttons non functional, attempted UM closure - Message UM not responding. Logged out of Lubuntu desktop and logged into Ubuntu desktop and installed updates successfully. Freezing at the login screen has become more of an issue with three freezes followed by the presentation of the Grub screen. Booting was then normal. In earlier boot freezes the Grub screen occurred sometimes following a reboot. [Bug 1019652] [NEW] wired connection fails on startup 12.04
Public bug reported: Hi. I have a brand new Asus X53E laptop running only Ubuntu 12.04 and have a problem with establishing a wired internet connection at startup. I usually have to reboot several times before a connection is established. Once it is establshed, there is no problem and the connection lasts. If I manually disconnect a working connection, the same problem exists. The wired connection on my desktop, running a previous version of Ubuntu works fine. I tried installing WICD, uninstalled network manager, and rebooted. Same problem. So I reinstalled gnome network manager and uninstalled WICD. Again, same problem. However, I did find that by bypassing the router, the wired network will establish communication via gnome network manager on my laptop. The problem is not entirely in the router, however, because my desktop, running an older version of Ubuntu, can establish a wired connection via the router. I also found that although the laptop connection cannot be easily established with the router in place, a wireless connection can be easily established. So for some reason, the problem is only with the wired connection when using the router. Lastly, just to make sure the problem is not in the LAN cable, I unplugged the working cable from my desktop and tried it with my laptop, and same problem. So it is not the cable. [Bug 840474] [NEW] Can't connect via samba from Vbox XP Guest when restricting IP with hosts allow in smb.conf
Public bug reported: lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS Release:10.04 apt-cache policy samba samba: Installed: 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.7 Candidate: 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.7 Version table: *** 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.7 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages I'm assuming this is a bug, as it worked before. I have a WinXP VirtualBox guest that I like to share folders with via samba (please don't suggest using the VBox shares option as a workaround). In the past, I was able to restrict access to just the XP Guest via hosts allow = 192.168.56.0/255.255.255.0 in the smb.conf file, as the vboxnet0 interface is on that IP range (it's 192.168.1.101). bind interfaces only = true is commented out, as are all interfaces lines. At some point (I'm not sure when, as I don't use the XP Guest that frequently) this stopped working. If I comment out the hosts allow line such that access is available for everyone, then the XP Guest can connect. I have the same problem if I comment out hosts allow and have bind interfaces only = true interfaces = lo vboxnet0 The first setup listed has worked previously, so I'm filing it as a bug. Again, by simply changing the smb.conf by commenting out the hosts allow line and restarting samba, I have access to the shares (so the shares are being put up properly), and I'm asked for my samba username and password when accessing from the guest, so I think that end of it is behaving properly. There seems to be something wrong with how it's set up to filter on IP or interface. [Bug 783126] [NEW] Kile missing icons and widgets look bad in Unity
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity I upgraded from Maverick, and the settings (which I can't figure out how to reverse) in unity make the qt apps look terrible. It does this on all 3 of my lucid installs that I have tried. I was able to upgrade a 4th install a few months ago (I have 2 installs on both my desktop and laptop, one production, and one testing for new releases). Can anyone confirm this? [Bug 600453] Re: [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU)
The Display work fine (after some work) with 9.10 on 2.6.31-22-server With 10.10 (and 10.4 as well as with a recent fedora and a debian) it is blank: however attaching a vesa screen and detaching it (possible more than once) the screen comes up and everything is ok (as remarked above by another user). [Bug 449888] [NEW] [karmic] network manager gnome does not remember wpa enterprise hidden network passwords over reboot, need to re-create network profile each time.
Public bug reported: Network manager (not sure if it's the core package or just the gnome applet) does not remember my password for connecting to a WPA enterprise network. All other settings are remembered and recalled, but not the password. Complicating this is that the password box is greyed out (as is the connect button), so I can't just enter the password and click connect, I have to re-enter the info for the wireless network all over again. [Bug 445900] [NEW] Exiting out of chainloaded grub2 causes Karmic to not boot until a further reboot.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 This is likely not a high-priority bug given the unusual setup, but I'll report it anyway. I decided to test out grub2 on my karmic install by chainloading into it from grub legacy. This normally works fine. What doesn't is when I exit out of grub2 to the top-level grub on my system. I have a hardy-maintained grub legacy on the MBR, which chainloads to the grub legacy on the karmic partition, which chainloads to grub2. When exiting out of grub 2, it sends me back to the MBR/Hardy grub legacy, and chainloading to the karmic grub legacy then hangs until a reboot, at which point everything works fine again. To be clear, the crash occurs on the following MBR/Hardy Legacy - Karmic Partition Legacy - Karmic Grub 2 - MBR/Hardy Legacy - Loading Karmic Partition Legacy hangs/crashes. [Bug 434793] [NEW] [karmic] Network Manager will not load password for previously used Hidden WPA Enterprise Network, can't connect [regression]
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager I apologize for the lack of requested info, but as it's a bug with connecting to the network I can't get the info and file the bug at the same time. The distro is a fully-updated (as of Tues Sept 22 ~9AM) Karmic Alpha 6 install. The computer is an intel core 2 duo laptop with an intel 3945abg wireless card. When loading up a previously-used WPA-Enterprise network with a hidden SSID, nm will load all the previously entered settings aside from the password. All fields are greyed out, and with the password field empty, the connect button is greyed out, which does not allow me to connect to the network. Removing the saved network settings (through Edit Wireless Networks) and re-entering the settings via Connect to Hidden Wireless Network causes nm-applet to crash (and I can't send the apport info, as I'm not connected to the network). To be clear, I can enter all of the info when setting up the new network (id, password, ca certs file, etc.), but nm crashes upon trying to connect. Connecting to a visible WPA-Personal network at home is fine, and nm loads the settings and such automatically without crashing. This worked in earlier alphas of karmic (I believe alpha 5). Please let me know what I can do to help out and test, as I would love to upgrade to karmic when it comes out, but this would be a deal-breaker as I need connectivity at work. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: intel karmic network-manager wpa -- [karmic] Network Manager will not load password for previously used Hidden WPA Enterprise Network, can't connect [regression] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434793 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
