It is also possible to reproduce the error using Chromium and Evince (and no Mozilla apps) Search for 'how to create a PDF file site:adobe.com' and click on the top PDF link. Result as per attached image (left monitor showing the blue strip from the background picture) The problems corrects itself after changing window focus (either alt+tab) or clicking on another window and then back again. It also seems to only happen when Chromium is initially started - subsequent opening of the PDF file after closing evince doesn't reproduce the problem - seems only to happen after Chromium (re)starts. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/772044/+attachment/2104822/+files/Screenshot.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772044 Title: Weird maximized firefox glitch -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Tried again this morning after firefox was updated to 4.0.1 - same behaviour, but the window now corrects itself once you've changed focus (using alt+tab). The error was produced by performing a Google search 'file:pdf', and then click on the top link [PDF]'Create a PDF file' - clicking on the PDF link then triggers a download and Evince to load with the result in the previous post's screenshot. firefox: Installed: 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1 Candidate: 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1 Version table: *** 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1 0 firefox-globalmenu: Installed: 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1 Candidate: 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1 Version table: *** 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1 0 evince: Installed: 2.32.0-0ubuntu12 Candidate: 2.32.0-0ubuntu12 Version table: *** 2.32.0-0ubuntu12 0 unity: Installed: 3.8.10-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 3.8.10-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 3.8.10-0ubuntu2 0 fglrx: Installed: 2:8.840-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 2:8.840-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 2:8.840-0ubuntu4 0 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772044 Title: Weird maximized firefox glitch -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have seen the same problem clicking on links in thunderbird and Gwibber with firefox as the default browser. However, I have *also* seen the problem when clicking on links in firefox opening PDF docs (as per screenshot). You can see evince in the front, but with Firefox tabs visible between the PDF doc and the Unity panel. It seems to appear if the link triggers a new app to be in front of the app with the link, but Unity doesn't change to the new app. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot1.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/772044/+attachment/2098016/+files/Screenshot1.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772044 Title: Weird maximized firefox glitch -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 568988] Re: [Lucid][Ubuntu 10.04][ATI cards] Slow/freeze windows management (resize, maximise, .etc) with fglrx driver + compositing desktop.
Hi Fiodor thanks for your suggestions. I did the following: - uninstalled fglrx driver (latest distributed with Ubuntu - ATI driver version 10.5 I believe) reverting back to the open source driver - reverted back to unpatched xserver - rebooted into recovery mode - installed the new ATI driver 10.6 - normal boot. Things worked fine until I started noticing these black parts of my application windows. So I have reverted back to the Ubuntu distributed AMD ATI driver and the above patched xserver - which works very well as it did before I tried the new AMD ATI driver :) -- [Lucid][Ubuntu 10.04][ATI cards] Slow/freeze windows management (resize, maximise, .etc) with fglrx driver + compositing desktop. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568988 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 568988] Re: [Lucid][Ubuntu 10.04][ATI cards] Slow/freeze windows management (resize, maximise, .etc) with fglrx driver + compositing desktop.
Not quite for me. It did remove the minimise/maximise delay, but it introduced big black sections within the application windows - especially when using Thunderbird or Nautilus. The windows basically looked like they were trying to refreshed but couldn't and resolved into a black square. E.g., change directory in Nautilus would cause the panel on the left side to go black, the folder view in Thunderbird would go black if clicking between messages. It was so bad that I have reverted back to the above patch and uninstalled the new ATI driver. Public bug reported: I've checked alsamixer - should be ok. I've tried the backport for alsa - no luck. There is 'Internal Audio Analog Stereo' device present in sound preferences... I can hear an echo from the mic feeding back into my laptop speakers, so I'm sure it's not a hardware problem. But I'm unable to get 'Applications->Sound & Video->sound recorder' or 'Preferences->Sound' to register any sound from internal mic. alsa-info.sh can be found here: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=89a18b9c33f2c1a8c974b680d6310b2f394bd53d ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: alsa-base 1.0.22.1+dfsg-0ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-21.32-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-21-generic i686 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21.
