[Bug 1573345] Re: Dual monitor loses settings after screen sleep

2016-05-06 Thread JohnEverest
I have this bug. It was in Kubuntu 15.04 and 15.10. It occurs after some
system changes and often after an update. I have not been able to find
exactly what changes cause the loss of configuration.

I have dual monitors on an Nvidia GTX750 graphics card.

[Bug 1097479] Re: [Audigy2 - SB Audigy 2 [SB0240], playback] No sound at all, even with patches and modules

2015-12-05 Thread JohnEverest
I think my problem is related to Kubuntu 15.10 64bit. I have installed
Kubuntu 15.10 32bit in another partition and midi works very well.

The problem would appear to be a 64bit incompatibility somewhere.

[Bug 1509645] Re: temporary desktop freeze after login

2015-10-28 Thread JohnEverest
I have found that the delay is related to the network-manager that is in
the system tray.

I have removed the system tray from the panel. Then added digital
clock, clipboard, volume control and available device widgets instead.
This solves the delay.

Adding the "networks" widget to the desktop or panel freezes the
screens for about 40 seconds.

[Bug 1509645] [NEW] temporary desktop freeze after login

2015-10-24 Thread JohnEverest
Public bug reported:

With a clean install of Kubuntu 15.10 64bit release and applied latest updates
this delay remains.
It did not appear until an update was applied to a beta 1 version about
01/10/2015. After logging in, the desktop with wallpaper appears with icons
that have no caption and the desktop panel has nothing in it. Then there is a
35 second delay before the icon captions appear and the panel is filled in.
Then everything works.

System :- AMD quad core processor, 16GB ram, Nvidia GTX750 graphics card.
Gigabyte UEFI Dual BIOS MB.

Changing the graphics driver has no effect neither has turning off
desktop effects.

[Bug 1236012]

2013-11-21 Thread JohnEverest
Release UI by opening a VT, no need to log in. Then immediately return to UI
with ctrl-alt-F7
LO 4.1.2.3, KDE4.11.2, Kernel3.11.0-13

Quoted from first comment:-

Moreover, the freeze includes the whole X.org UI, including desktop.
There's no way to kill LibreOffice from the GUI. However, CTRL+ALT+F
-keys still work so one can go to a VT and kill libreoffice from there,
and the UI is released.
