Thanks for your reply. With v3.11-rc7-saucy, the keys still don't work but the brightness down key makes the power statistics dialog come up and the brightness up key makes the computer to go to sleep (both keys don't do anything with the raring kernel). ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Description changed: - Brightness keys (and less importantly wifi mounse disable and keyboard + Brightness keys (and less importantly wifi mouse disable and keyboard backlight) fn keys are not recognized under Ubuntu. [Bug 1217436] Re: Brightness keys are not recognized on Toshiba Satellite U840W
As more keys are registered with the latest upstream kernel, here is a reference of wrongly mapped fn keys : What I see on the keyboard - What the system sees Brightness down - Battery Brightness up - Sleep External/Internal screen - Suspend Trackpad on/off - External/Internal screen Volume - - Volume + Volume + - Volume - Mute - 0xF8 ? Wifi toggle - 0XF8 ? The rest is ok. Also note that the Fn behaviour is inverted (i.e. on this keyboard your are supposed to use the Fn key to access f1...f12 and not use the fn key to use special functions) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1217436 Title: Brightness keys are not recognized on Toshiba Satellite U840W To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1217436/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1061063] [NEW] Reimplement automatic appearing of remote CUPS queues brodcasted by DNS-SD/Bonjour
Public bug reported: Since cups 1.6+, cups browsing protocol and automatic appearing of remote CUPS queues doesn't work anymore (LP: #1052897). This is a serious regression because each user has to : - manually add each queue of interest at every site (as printers don't appear automagically anymore) - keep a big list of non existing printers when moving (as printers don't disappear automagically anymore) The local cups server (or another daemon) should have a mean to automatically add discovered printers (like it does for USB printers for example). [Bug 1052897] Re: Printer sharing via CUPS broadcasting dropped in CUPS 1.6.x
Do I understand correctly that this means that there is no longer a way to automatically show all queues available in the user's current location and that we have to manually add each printer on each location (and that those printers won't disappear when the user moves somewhere else)? [Bug 1060092] [NEW] Cups 1.6.1 doesn't show printers shared by other cups servers
Public bug reported: Client : quantal beta2 Server : precise I know cups dropped cups sharing but both the server and the client I have have avahi running and sharing is not working anyway since I upgraded to quantal (and thus cups 1.6.1). This is a serious regression as we can't possibly ask all our users to manually add several printing queues at each of the location they can be. There are many other regressions with cups 1.6.1 (see for example the list here : https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=735404), maybe it'll be safer to downgrade cups until the features Apple dropped are properly ported elsewhere. [Bug 1049609] [NEW] Swiss French keyboark layout is under German (Swiss) - Français (Suisse)
Public bug reported: This regression first appeared in 12.04 and is still present in 12.10. Swiss French keyboard layout is found under German (Swiss) - Français (Suisse) which makes no sense. [Bug 649182] Re: Asrock X58 IDE / PATA controller doesn't work
Same result with latest upstream kernel. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: PATA / IDE CD-ROM are not supported under Linux with this motherboard altough Bios can boot from it. Booting Ubuntu fails because media cannot be found (=initramfs prompt) Running Ubuntu with this motherboard means you cannot access your PATA / IDE CD-ROM drive (no /dev/scd0 node) The problem seems to come from the fact that the IDE controller is shared with Firewire. [Bug 545151] Re: Android Phones require .is_audio_player on SD card
This seems fixed on Maverick (the mdi file with the correct usb id is there). The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Maverick Meerkat. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can make sure it is really fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help. ** Summary changed: - Android Phones require .is_audio_player on SD card + Nexus One requires .is_audio_player on SD card -- Nexus One requires .is_audio_player on SD card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545151 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 573219] Re: Samsung YP-M1 media player missing
Can you please try the following and let me know if it makes your player recognized without an .is_audio_player file ? 1) put the attached file (samsung-yepp_yp-m1.mpi) in /usr/share/media-player-info/ 2) ALT+F2 and run : gksudo gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb-media-players.rules 3) paste the following two lines just before the last line (last line should be LABEL=media_player_end) : # Yepp YP-M1 ATTRS{idVendor}==04e8 , ATTRS{idProduct}==5123 , ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}=samsung-yepp_yp-m1 If it works, I'll send the required file upstream so your player is automaticaly recognized in the future. -- Samsung YP-M1 media player missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573219 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 573219] Re: Samsung YP-M1 media player missing
(step 1) must be done as root, if you are not comfortable with command line, do ALT+F2 and run : gksudo nautilus then navigate to the /usr/share/media-player-info/ directory and put the file there) -- Samsung YP-M1 media player missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573219 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 573219] Re: Samsung YP-M1 media player missing
Thanks for your test. For the max_secors issue you could add something like this to the udev rule I guess : RUN+=/bin/sh -c '/bin/echo 64 /sys/block/%k/device/max_sectors' However I don't know/think it can be set from the mpi file. I will send my .mpi file to freedesktop.org and I suggest you open a new bug for the max_sector problem. If my suggestion above works, maybe add this information to the new bug and comment here to let us know the new bug number. -- Samsung YP-M1 media player missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573219 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
