[Bug 335145] Re: xsane docs missing at /usr/share/doc/xsane-common/html/sane-xsane-doc.html.
The help docs for xsane are in a separate package, named xsane-doc. Use Synaptic or aptitude to install it. Some program packages depend on their corresponding doc package, making it mandatory to install the documentation. xsane, however, does not. -- xsane docs missing at /usr/share/doc/xsane-common/html/sane-xsane-doc.html. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335145 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 346592] Re: Highlight Mode reset after using External Tools plugin
It seems that it only occurs with a document of sufficient length. The document does not have to be saved. The script that is run by this External Tools plugin is: # #!/bin/sh sed 's/[[:blank:]]*$//' # I was able to replicate the bug by first setting the highlight mode to any of None, Sources--Java, and Scientific--Octave. The bug only occurs when a comment line is the first non-whitespace symbol, and is on the first two lines. I suspected the Modelines plugin, but I disabled it, and the bug still happens. I only tried using C/C++/Java style one line (//) and multi-line comments (/* */). -- Highlight Mode reset after using External Tools plugin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346592 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 346592] Re: Highlight Mode reset after using External Tools plugin
I apologize: The first sentence of my last comment is inaccurate. I was able to reproduce the error with very few characters and as little as one line. Also, I did another test: I typed a shell script comment line in the first line of code, ran the external command, and checked the results. To my surprise, the highlight mode was switched appropriately--to Scripts--sh. This indicates that after running certain external commands that modify the original file, gedit automatically re-detects the syntax based on the first two lines of a document. Thus, it makes sense that it kept switching to C highlighting mode, since Java and C have the same basic syntax. This isn't exactly a bug--just a missing feature: gedit could be a little bit smarter about how it re-detects the syntax after running such commands on the document--all it needs to do is check to see if the current highlighting mode is appropriate _before_ it tries to change it to the best choice--since the user may well have already selected the correct highlighting mode, either explicitly (by manually changing the setting) or implicitly (by choosing a certain file extension). -- Highlight Mode reset after using External Tools plugin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346592 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 346592] [NEW] Highlight Mode reset after using External Tools plugin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit When I use the External Tools plug-in, some Tools cause the Highlight Mode of the current document to be reset to View--Highlight Mode-Sources--C. This only seems to happen with Tools for which Replace current document is the output option. I even tried reopening the file, and closing and reopening gedit, to no avail. Finally, I tried manually changing the highlight mode (which I didn't realize was possible before this problem crept up). The problem could be in gedit itself, or the External Tools plugin.
