It will come soon EOL of the Ubuntu MATE 17.04 on January 2018.
Hence, I think you don't need to think of it as big.
It seems well resolved in Ubuntu MATE 17.10.
It means, in my opinion, you may release the fix after the test of it in Linux
Mint 18 series.
This is good work.

"In 17.04 it should be the same as in 17.10. Please check if you have m-c-c

I've checked that again but, packages are from your PPA.
(mate-control-center & m-c-c-common 1.18.1-0ubuntu1ppa1~ubuntu17.04)

"So the PPA (which has only update for 1.12) is useless for them."
Alright, however, I hope to test it and hope it to work for Linux Mint 18
series soon.

But, It happens to Ubuntu MATE and other MATE based Ubuntu driven OSes like

And, it is still the case for Linux Mint 18.3 MATE.
As such, This report should not be expired, until we find out the reasons of it.

[Bug 1581160] Re: Switch to Noto Sans as default font for Japanese and/or Korean?

2017-11-22 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
It seems package fonts-nanum* have been removed correctly though, fonts-
unfonts* seems still exist on bionic, tested in daily cdimage of today.

Can this issue also affect to Zubuntu and Ubuntu-MATE?
I believe it would be good for them also.

[Bug 1581160] Re: Switch to Noto Sans as default font for Japanese and/or Korean?

2017-11-10 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
@Gunnar
Actually, Removing of those fonts (nanum, unfonts) are my first to do list
after installation of Ubuntu (apt purge fonts-nanum* fonts-unfonts*) in
terminal.
As such, I agree with deletion of those fonts.

And, One more thing we should not miss is ibus-hangul.
When installing ibus-hangul its package contains fonts-nanum automatically.
If someone install ibus-hangul manually fonts-nanum would be installed during
installation of ibus-hangul automatically.
It should be checked as well with this issue, I think.

[Bug 1581160] Re: Switch to Noto Sans as default font for Japanese and/or Korean?

2017-11-07 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
@leejh76 , Hi Jong Hoon, It doesn't seem to quite related to this font issue.
It seems a bug of input methods, I think , It would be better for you file a
bug to Libreoffice team, or those input methods developers.

@gunnarhj
It works well for me in Ubuntu 17.10 under VB on macOS, If I can have a chance
to test in machine,
I would test more of it in Ubuntu 17.10 and 18.04 (if it is possible)
Thank you.

[Bug 1397776] Re: Suggestion for switchboard-inputmethod-plug to install , remove and set Input Method for non-english based users. [$100]

2016-07-17 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
This Input Method Tab must be an independent feature like keyboard layout
selector.
There are a lot of input methods for the people of Asia and who need it.
It should be easy for users to choose it , but input methods are not delivered
as built in like keyboard layout, since it is provided as packages.
Thus, we need to install it when we need it.
And when we don't need it, it should be removed easily by users.

So, my idea is
we need something more intelligent workaround like this.
if the local mirror server has an any issue then ubuntu main server works
automatically to contiune the process.

what I care about is ubuntu korean server connection issue.

[Bug 1514938] Re: Language packages are not installed properly

2016-01-20 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Hello, juyeon Park.
I tried to install it by the same bootable USB Ubuntu 16.04 right after seeing
your mention.
and this time it was installed properly.
and also there was no hash sum mismatch report in the terminal

Now I am sure that it was derived from the servers's Hash Sum mismatch.
And also, during installation process, I didn't check the third party software
and others
I tried it as normal.

but, in this case, it may not be a bug of the ubiquity or system though,
we should remember which was happened, although it was not a local mirror
server as I already mentioned before, it happened when I switched the server to
the main server at the softwarte and update in the ubiquity though.

I don't know where to affect this report but we could probably meet this
bug by the same reason in the future or soon by happens I guess.

Thanks.

[Bug 1514938] Re: Language packages are not installed properly

2016-01-19 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Hello, developers
Unfortunately, it happened again.
I installed 16.04 today, and it still doesn't show me a proper language
it still happens that system or ubiquity doesn't install locale
language-package , for me, it was language-pack-ko
and it makes system shows English as default, but partially shows Korean even
it is not installed language-pack-ko
I hope it to be fixed soon.

[Bug 1514938] Re: Language packages are not installed properly

2016-01-19 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
I assume that it is related to this local server's Hash Sum mismatch.
hash mismatch made the ubiquity couldn't download packages from the server.
from this results, system doesn't contain local language packaes like
language-pack-ko , language-pack-gnome-ko
and it makes the system shows English as default

but I still don't understand this language-support, it shows Korean
although it is not installed those language packages like language-pack-
ko, language-pack-gnome-ko

Anyhow, I think so.

I think , it might be dropped on purpose.
http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/all/language-pack-ko-base/filelist

because, Seemingly, Ubuntu want users to use software center instead of other
utility like gdebi.
but, we, most of users still need this gdebi.
actullay, it accurred lack of translation file gdebi.mo in other Ubuntu based
OSes , Linux MInt , elementary OS.
and we have met this situation until now.

We need gdebi.mo in language-pack-gnome -##

anyhow, during this test , there was no proper installation,

There has been same issue happened in Ubuntu 15.10

but it was resolved after tzsetup was corrected

Does this daily build iso was build before release of Ubuntu 15.10?

[Bug 1514938] [NEW] The language Korean dropped from the language-selector-gnome in Ubuntu 16.04 Unity

2015-11-10 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 16.04 Unity
language support (language-selector-gnome) doesn't contain language Korean(한국어)
thus, it makes wrong language settings
please, see the screenshot

it can be solved simply add language Korean(한국어) from the language support
if then, all other allocated packages will be installed automatically
and also, we don't use Spanish(스페인어) and Chinese(중국어) by default
There should be Korean(한국어) and English(영어) by default in language support

it begins from the ubiquity to installed OS

[Bug 1514938] Re: The language Korean dropped from the language-selector-gnome in Ubuntu 16.04 Unity

2015-11-10 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
I would start it from the beginning, the live mode
* I started to install it from select language in live usb
* I chose Korean(한국어) -> live mode -> but all the languages were not a Korean
, some of them are English
* but, ubiquity slide show worked good in Korean.
* after installation, it had the same issue with installation process

if the language was correctly selected for Asian/Seoul
it shoud have shown to me a Korean and input method fcitx-hangul
but,it didn't, and even more, Korean was missed and other nations languages
were installed instead.

I don't know where to afftects so that I changed it to ubiquity where I
met this issue first because of the above reason.

[Bug 1514929] Re: Lack of language-selector-gnome accurs wrong language settings in Ubuntu 16.04 GNOME

2015-11-10 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Thank you for reviewing it quickly
The point of this bug report is Xenial GNOME missed language pack and input
method for its region and nations by default.

1)
I installed it in Korean , but it doesn't show me Korean as you can see it in
screenshot.
thus, I checked its language packages and I found that
Korean language pack was missed
it used to be installed by default as it always did until current release
versions (15.10)
but in 16.04 language pack was missed by default

* language-pack-gnome-ko

2)
Input method was missed also
Ubuntu used its default input method as fcitx-hangul for Korean
but it is not installed by default

for those issue , I checked and found that
Ubuntu GNOME doesn't contain language support by default from the version 15.04
but, Ubuntu Unity has it.

Ubuntu treat this language stuff in language support wholey as one process.
For example, In case of Korean,
To install Korean(한국어) in language support, it will install
language-pack-gnome-ko with all other allocated language packges and input
method fcitx,fcitx-hangul in one process.

but Ubuntu GNOME doesn't have this language support (language-selector-gnome)
so this bug happens.

solution for this issue is
* adding a language support in Ubuntu GNOME
* or Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 contains proper language packages and input method by
default.

** Package changed: language-selector (Ubuntu) => ubuntu-gnome

** Changed in: ubuntu-gnome

[Bug 1514938] Re: The language Korean dropped from the language-selector-gnome in Ubuntu 16.04 Unity

2015-11-10 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Thank you for reviewing it quickly.
its symptom is too complicated but solution is simple
The solution is adding right language pack by their region and nations to
language support.

in case of Korea , we need Korean not Chinese, Spanish, and lots of
other languages.

1)
When selecting the language Korean in live mode
all the language in system should be displayed in Korean, but Xenial
distributions show me English and Korean together.
and after installation ,from the first boot
the same issue accurs in system as you can see it in screenshot

2)
but, although fcitx-hangul was not installed by default in OS
fcitx config tool shows Hangul(한글)

3)
we don't use Spanish, Chinese, and other lots of other Nations language
but Xenial's distribution has a lot of other nations language by default ,and
even Korean(한국어)was not installed by default.
so, To operate Xenial Xerus in Korean,
we need to remove all the other nations languages except English(영어)
and should install Korean(한국어)

it happens from installation process to fresh installed state together.
Shortly to say,
* language pack of Korean was missed in language support
* Too many languages was installed in OS, Except English and Korean, we don't
use other languages by default.

I assume this language issue would happens to other Asian Nations
distribution too.

2015-09-27 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
I think it is strongly related to this report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1462688

add it there, I met similar issue in elementary OS Freya 0.3.1 latest
distribution.
In Ubiquity , translation of ubiquity doesn't work for it properly.
I chose Korean for installing language, but it showed English.

Fedora 22 GNOME, elemantary OS Freya 0.3.1 , and Ubuntu 15.10 &
Derivatives, among them , I assume the kernel issue of timezone & locale
settings which the kernel higher 3.19 latest and over 4.0 latest

Probably, We might need to check timestamp also.

[Bug 1475812] Re: system locale setting goes wrong after installing system

2015-09-24 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Ubuntu 15.10 Unity, Gnome, MATE, Xubuntu 15.10, Lubuntu 15.10, These are the
OSes this bug happens to
but, It doesn't happen to Kubuntu 15.10

The only different thing which related to locale setting among them is language
support application (gnome-language-support).
There is no language support application in Kubuntu 15.10.
Now, I think that gnome-language-support package is the most suspicious source
of this bug.

[Bug 1475812] Re: system locale setting goes wrong after installing system

2015-07-31 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
I have checked all the locale related settings from 14.04 ~ 15.10
/etc/locale.alias
/etc/default/locale
/etc/timezone
/etc/localtime
all of those were good,

the second assumptioin is the package 'language-selector-gnome'
it seems to be changed somehow due to add fcitx packages.
it may goes wrong in the middle of the adding fcitx packages.

[Bug 1475812] [NEW] system locale setting goes wrong after installing system

2015-07-17 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Public bug reported:

There is no issue in Installing process at the ubiquity for locale settings
I set up locale as this in ubiquity

locale : seoul
language : Korean
keyboard : Korean(101/104)

but, At the first boot up after installation
System shows me wrong settings
some are correct , some are not
please, see the attatchment png file

In the language support ,
It should have shown to me a Korean language and regional formats in Korean
but it doesn't , English was default and the Regional Formtas either

I am not sure if it is related to system ,or gnome-language-selector(language
supprot), or ubiquity though
I report it to the fisrt assumption ubiquity category

[Bug 1390625] Re: mouse cursor gets corrupted

2015-04-12 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
Workaround from the bug-report comment , it worked for me

Workaround in Xubuntu 14.10:
1. Open Display in Settings Manager.
2. Change resolution to some other value and click Apply.
2. Change back to previous resolution and click Apply.

in Freya
1. System Settings - Dsiplay - Resolution choose other resolution
2. Apply
3. Restore previous settings

It works for me in a same sesseion , until I log out or shutdown the
system

[Bug 1374929] Re: Rebooting after installation of Nvidia , system doesn't go directly X-window mode

2014-10-24 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
I saw that message in Ubuntu MATE 14.10 , Kubuntu 14.10 also, from there tty1
mode
Although they start the system successfully , but in the tty1 mode by manual;
ctrl + alt+f1,f2
Now with the version Ubuntu 14.10 stable doesn't occur this symptom ,but also ,
I can see this message in the tty1 mode by manual
as it did in Ubuntu MATE and Kubuntu 14.10 too.
