[Bug 2065834] Re: freecol "No java runtime was found" in 24.04 with openjdk-21-jre

2024-05-15 Thread Justin Luth
also reported to freecol at https://sourceforge.net/p/freecol/bugs/3357/

** Description changed:

- During the development of noble, freecol was working, but with the final
- release, although freecol installs OK, it will not run. [warning]
- /usr/games/freecol: No Java runtime was found, even though
- openjdk-21-jre fulfills whatever dependencies are assigned.
+ During the development of noble (when it was installing openjdk-17-jre),
+ freecol was working, but with the final release, although freecol
+ installs OK, it will not run. "[warning] /usr/games/freecol: No Java
+ runtime was found," even though openjdk-21-jre is installed, fulfilling
+ the default-jre dependency.

However, "apt install openjdk-17-jre" allows freecol to launch, fixing
  the problem.

[Bug 2061383] [NEW] [noble] Add ManageForeignNextHops feature to fix NextHop deletions

2024-04-15 Thread Justin Lamp
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to integrate the new
ManageForeignNextHops feature via a backport into Ubuntu 24.04.

Without this feature/bugfix we have problems with systemd-networkd
deleting the Nexthops of FRR on a restart of Switch failure. This is
especially problematic with our EVPN setup. For more information please
have a look into the following issue:

https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/29034
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/0977039bdc9e857cdb0dfe1d96d0de0d94d02155

Best regards,
Justin Lamp

[Bug 1961439] Re: nvme - duplicate cntlid

Also worth noting: It's random which one gets removed and which one gets
added on my system. This makes it harder to work around and was pretty
confusing when I did a new system install without paying attention to
the name of the device.

[Bug 1958692] Re: System crashes and reboots every 15min - 2hr

2022-02-03 Thread Justin Moore
Updates:

- The hardware passes multiple rounds of memtest86+ over a ~10 hour
window and does not reboot during that time

- When left at the BIOS screen for hours on end, it does not reboot

- The system will do the reboot cycle under all kernels I currently have
installed, which includes:
5.14.0-1020-oem
5.14.0-1018-oem
5.13.0-27-generic
5.11.0-40-generic
5.11.0-38-generic

By process of elimination this is starting to look more and more like a
Linux kernel issue.

[Bug 1958692] [NEW] System crashes and reboots every 15min - 2hr

2022-01-21 Thread Justin Moore
Public bug reported:

I have a NUC11NAHi5 system running Ubuntu 20.04.3, and every few minutes
to hours it will crash:

justin :0 :0 Fri Jan 21 19:46 - crash (00:37)
justin :0 :0 Fri Jan 21 19:40 - crash (00:05)

justin :0 :0 Fri Jan 21 15:46 - crash (00:24)

When it comes back up I see the following errors in journalctl:

kernel: BERT: Error records from previous boot:
kernel: [Hardware Error]: event severity: fatal
kernel: [Hardware Error]: Error 0, type: fatal
kernel: [Hardware Error]: section_type: Firmware Error Record Reference

followed by a large hex dump. It could be related to this issue:
https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/Frequent-crashes-on-i5-11500/td-p/1280709

The BIOS is up-to-date, as is the intel microcode package. It doesn't
seem to matter which kernel I use. I'm using the OEM one since the
regular kernels for 20.04.3 (a) also have this problem, and (b) have
broken IR support (https://askubuntu.com/questions/1380500/kernel-rc-
rc0-receive-overflow).

System: NUC11PAHi5
SKU: RNUC11PAHi5000
BIOS: PATGL357.0041.2021.0811.1505
Board: NUC11PABi5
CPU: i5-1135G7

I'm not sure if it's a kernel issue, BIOS issue, microcode issue, or
hardware issue, so I decided to start here. Let me know how else I can
help.

[Bug 1870939] Re: Micro tries to create log.txt on working directory every time it is opened

Not sure how it can be set to fix released if it's still an issue in LTS
versions of Ubuntu?

Can we please backport this to all LTS releases?

[Bug 1934647] Re: [HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk0xxx] Black screen at login using 5.8.0-59, but 5.8.0-43 and 5.12.14 work fine

2021-09-29 Thread Justin Myers
Noting here that the fix for 1936708
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hirsute/+source/linux/+bug/1936708)
also resolves this problem for me. (Granted, that seems to be in the
works only for 5.11.x on Hirsute, and not 5.8.x on Focal, but I figure
it's worth flagging for others affected.) Not sure when they'll put the
finishing touches on that kernel release, but it's one to look forward
to.

[Bug 1936708] Re: Wobbly graphics on built-in display since linux-image-5.11.0-22-generic

2021-09-28 Thread Justin Myers
Slightly off-topic, but hopefully related enough:

I've been affected by [freedesktop #3569][0], which also is related to
older eDP panels and which started with the 5.11.0-22 as in the original
report here. (Instead of "wobbly" graphics, I simply get no graphics
whatsoever.)

Happy to report that 5.11.0-38.42 from [ubuntu/hirsute-next@master-next
(7d77830)][1] resolves that issue for me as well.

2021-09-04 Thread Justin Myers
I have the same issue with an HP EliteBook 840 G5, using an Intel Core
i5-8250U (Intel UHD Graphics 620) and an AMD Radeon RX 540.

Under a clean Focal install (20.04.2), I can successfully boot and use
my machine under kernel 5.8.0-55, but I get the blank screen described
by other commenters under 5.8.0-59. `journalctl` and `inxi` output is
available here:
https://gist.github.com/myersjustinc/7a60811f846df88bab96b5207c4975f5

Under a clean Hirsute install (21.04), it similarly works under
5.11.0-18 and fails under 5.11.0-22. Corresponding output is available
here:

Please note that OpenPOWER systems do not support DMI. OPAL provides
platform metadata in sysfs (platform, vendor make/model and version
information can be found under /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/{vendor

[Bug 1314616] Re: [SRU] bitcoin to be maintained upstream in PPA: Replace distro archive "bitcoin" bitcoin with an empty dummy package

2021-04-22 Thread Justin Jack
Hello michagogo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted bitcoin into precise-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://dubaiescortsgirls.me/
https://dubaicallgirlsinuae.com/ in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1871721] Re: Second Monitor on HDMI blank screen/blink screen with Nvidia + Intel & Ubuntu 20.04? (ASUS Laptop)

2021-03-16 Thread Justin Silverman
I think I may be having a related issue.

Lenovo P1 Gen 2
Ubuntu 20.04
I am trying to connect 2 external monitors both connected via USB-C

All was well for the first 2 hours. Then I unplugged my laptop worked
off of battery for about an hour. Tried to plug back into the monitors
and thats when the problem showed up. Now I can get 1 external monitor
to show up, But when I try to connect both external monitors, both are
just black (both are recognized both by ubuntu (under displays) and by
nvidia-settings.

Any ideas?

[Bug 1584557] Re: Seagate external drive causes SCSI bus resets when UAS enabled

2021-02-14 Thread Justin Shepherd
Can confirm that this is affecting the Intel NUC8i5BEH on Ubuntu 20.04
with a Seagate Expansion Desktop 4TB USB 3 Enclosure attached.

To fix this, the NUC has an internal USB Dock controller which had to
have the quirk added in addition to the Seagate Drive.

/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist_uas.conf
options usb-storage quirks={USB3-CONTROLLER}:u,{SEAGATE-DRIVE}:u

Also disregard my previous bug addition for affecting Arch kernel. First
time working with Launchpad and pressed some buttons by accident :)

[Bug 1891062] [NEW] Lenovo X1 Tablet Gen3 trackpoint and buttons not working

2020-08-10 Thread Justin
Public bug reported:

Upon clean install of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS my trackpoint and trackpad
buttons are not working. From my investigation, a patch has been applied
to the 5.4.y branch
(https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/?h=linux-5.4.y=8d5037dca7c2089f27e5903c2aecfc5bb10d7806).

I followed the steps listed in here:
https://github.com/da-cali/linux-x1-tablet#fix-the-trackpoint-and-trackpad-buttons
using v5.4.57, but now my GRUB has two options:
* Ubuntu w/ 5.4.57+ (not working. Stuck "Loading initial ramdisk")

[Bug 1884780] [NEW] MariaDB fails to start when using galera cluster on 20.04 LTS

2020-06-23 Thread Justin
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Release
Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Release:20.04

Package Version
mariadb-server-10.3:
  Installed: 1:10.3.22-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:10.3.22-1ubuntu1

When using galera with MariaDB, MariaDB fails to start with the
following error:

Jun 23 13:19:06 hostname systemd[1]: Failed to start MariaDB 10.3.22 database
server.

This appears to be happening because 20.04 LTS has "fs.protected_regular
= 1" by default and "galera_recovery" in MariaDB 10.3 doesn't support
this. It has been fixed upstream in MariaDB 10.5
(https://github.com/MariaDB/server/pull/1417/files) but hasn't been
backported to 10.3.22.

Applying the fix to /usr/bin/galera_recovery fixes the issue.

[Bug 873287]

2020-06-16 Thread Justin Luth
Fixed in LO 7.0 by commit 38e7e6f348df5d6b37d7e0051fd3b8c227db69e6
Author: Justin Luth on Tue Apr 14 17:39:36 2020 +0300

tdf#132094 doc: fix export of fill in wrap-through fly frames

This builds on commit 2f13dbac060ae6af7e25ad3eff675cc859cfb3ff
by Miklos Vajna on Fri Jun 15 08:49:46 2012 +0100
n#325936 fix ww8 export of fly frames with transparent bg
where he wisely and cautiously says
Regression from commit ed8b5f2d -- to be safe, reverted only
for fly frames in headers.
because for some unknown reason, way back in 2002, commit
ed8b5f2debac216243930aba0873e0d75de8d0dd forced all
frames to specify a background fill. Typically of
course this is white, and so who notices?

Well, you notice if your frame is transparent, and
now the area fill hides something that it is over top of.
Like for example a transparent image, where the text wraps
through the image.

At first I was going to just try and revert everything.
Then I decided it likely was a difference between how
LO and MSO handled stacking/overlapping things.
After that, I was going to just make an exception for
eShapeType == mso_sptPictureFrame, but that only seems
necessary if there is something underneath. If the something
is just a background, that is handled anyway, so really
it would only be other shapes or (most importantly) text,
so the safest thing is testing wrap through, which there was
already a pre-defined variable to reuse
(and fix the spelling).

[Bug 897235]

2020-06-16 Thread Justin Luth
OK - so I think this report is focusing on the three textboxes near the
middle of the document, where the first one is a bit left compared to
the others. The three are not lined up.left-aligned.

It appears to me that the reason is because the first one is wider than
the others - in fact it goes right to the edge of the paper. In Word the
textbox spills off the end of the page. So that would be the reason -
that LO makes the sane decision that content MUST fit on the paper.

Still happens on xubuntu 20.04. Unfortunately, vim-gtk2 isn't around
anymore, so the workaround is invalid.

[Bug 1868117] Re: [snap] Adapt chromium user agent to avoid "not supported browser"

2020-05-12 Thread Justin
Agree. This Chromium snap package is installed, even when users install
chromium-browser from the Ubuntu repositories. Please allow users to
stick to the default open source Ubuntu repositories; don't steer them
away to the proprietary Chrome browser.

Severe usability problems with popular websites caused by a custom user
agent will result in the opposite.

[Bug 1877970] Re: Alt-X keyboard shortcut not defined in LibreOffice 6.4

2020-05-11 Thread Justin Luth
I tried looking in launchpad's patches, but don't see anything that
specifically strips it out, so I imagine it must be related to a compile
flag. In previous versions, it seems to be specified in
[/usr/lib/libreoffice]share/registry/main.xcd - from which it is now
missing.

[Bug 1877970] [NEW] Alt-X keyboard shortcut not defined in LibreOffice 6.4

2020-05-11 Thread Justin Luth
Public bug reported:

LibreOffice has default keyboard shortcuts defined. In Ubuntu 20.04 and
LibreOffice 6.4, it seems like some of those keyboard shortcuts are
missing. Specifically I was looking for Alt-X (for LibreOffice in
general, not only writer).

Alt-X is defined by default in a LibreOffice source compile.

These can be configured in LibreOffice tools -> customize - keyboard

[Bug 1877932] [NEW] Bluetooth not connecting to last paired device when enabling bluetooth

2020-05-11 Thread Justin Joseph
Public bug reported:

I am using a Dell Lattitude E7470 laptop. I am trying to connect a Bluetooth
headset (Anker).
I am seeing this issue with the latest upgrade to the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS version.
I have a Bluetooth headset which is paired with the machine. Given the
Bluetooth is enabled in the Ubuntu machine and I switch on my Bluetooth
headset, the ubuntu machine does not automatically connect to this device
anymore. It used to do it very easily with 18.04,19.04 and 19.10 ubuntu version.
I have to do a variety of steps to get it connected:
* turn off and on the headset.
* turn off and on the laptop bluetooth.
* try manully connecting to the device from the setting menu multiple times.
* Sometimes it detects and get connected automatically as it should.

[Bug 962718] Re: mount_afp fails with "Could not connect, never got a response to getstatus, Connection timed out" error

2020-05-07 Thread Justin Keller
@rjvbertin

I am also encountering this error using Ubuntu 18.04:

mount_afp afp://plex:@10.0.0.11/Mermaid /mnt/afp
Mounting 10.0.0.11 from Mermaid on /mnt/afp
Could not connect, never got a response to getstatus, Connection timed out

And running afpgetstatus:

afpgetstatus afp://10.0.0.11
trying 10.0.0.11 ...
Server name: Mermaid
Machine type: TimeCapsule6,109
AFP versions:
 AFP3.2
 AFP3.1
UAMs:
 DHCAST128
 DHX2
 Recon1
Signature: 364639303339415732554a007369672d

Is there anyway you can just send me all the source code with the patch
for Ubuntu so I can compile it?

Thanks!
