[Bug 1285169] [NEW] Multiple monitors no longer configurable through settings in Kubuntu 12.04
Public bug reported: Kubuntu 12.04.4 LTS Lenovo T510 Before a recent update, I was able to use the nVidia X Server Settings to configure my monitors. The "Display and Monitor" configuration has never worked for me. After said update, the ability configure my monitors stopped working. In order to toggle between using only my laptop display or using my laptop display + external monitor, I need to log out (which of course refreshes the xserver...). The following is the only system log I could find that seemed to apply to this. I repeated this a few times and watched the timestamps change on logs in /var/log, and only syslog and Xorg.0.log changed. Syslog only had entries about the vpnagent, so I'm guessing that's irrelevant. [Bug 989900] Re: Various people have a bunch of unrelated problems with name resolution in Ubuntu 12.04
I had the same problem as tomx (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network- manager/+bug/989900/comments/7) -- my /etc/resolve.conf had wrong values in it that would not update no matter what I did. It is my understanding that this file should update relative to the network I'm on. Without revealing sensitive information, the file had the following in it domain {home domain value} search {home search value} nameserver {home nameserver value 1} nameserver {home nameserver value 2} nameserver {home nameserver value 3} This was an appropriate configuration for connecting from my home network. However, for my office network it needed to be this: nameserver 127.0.0.1 search {office search value} Only after changing that by hand was I able to connect to the network. Whatever is supposed to be updating that file is not doing so. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/989900 Title: Various people have a bunch of unrelated problems with name resolution in Ubuntu 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/989900/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1010003] Re: unity/compiz crashed in dee_model_get_tag() from unity::dash::TextureContainer* unity::dash::RowAdaptorBase::renderer() () from unity::dash::ResultRen
@Bilal (comment #4): the reason I didn't respond to your questions for such a long time, was because I was waiting for the crash to happen again so I could answer them. However, this bug hasn't appeared anymore since Saturday (while before it would happen at least once a day). Maybe the bug was fixed? I installed updates on Friday, but there was no update for unity (maybe the update of libcairo2 and libcairo-gobject2 from 1.10.2-6.1ubuntu2 to 1.10.2-6.1ubuntu3 is related? Or ubuntuone- client 3.0.0-0ubuntu1 to 3.0.0-0ubuntu1.1?) Also, I've been following bug #994921 (and just read #993450 and [1]), and it appears apport doesn't automatically file bug reports on Launchpad anymore. When I was still using the beta release of Precise, I got used to a browser window popping up right after I reported a crash, but it seems this doesn't happen anymore. As a user, I got no feedback on whether my crash report was sent in successfully or not. I assumed not, but maybe it did, and maybe the bug was already fixed by the time I filed this report manually? (It's still not entirely clear to me how the crash report system works, and what the relation is between apport, whoopsie, errors.ubuntu.com and Launchpad...) [Bug 1010003] [NEW] unity/compiz crashes after entering search them in launcher
Public bug reported: Regularly (let's say once every day), unity and compiz crash. Steps to reproduce: 1. Press the Window key. 2. Start typing, e.g. type "calculator" 3. The first two or three letters of the search term appear in the search box. 4. The screen freezes for about 10 seconds, then unity/compiz crashes. 5. Unity/compiz restarts, no windows were closed but everything is moved onto the first workspace. 6. apport appears offering to report the bug, but doing so appears to do nothing. So, next to the crash I'm reporting (of which I don't know the root cause), apport doesn't seem to be reporting the error successfully. I send in the report, but afterwards nothing happens (I expected a browser window to pop up as described in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs). I added the crash file I found in /var/crash here as an attachment manually. I was having trouble with the password not being remembered when I ran some other window manager (like pekwm, wmii) other than the default DE's for ubuntu or xubuntu (gnome and xfce). I did what Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre said in the first post, and disconnected, removed it from wireless connections and created a new one. [Bug 799761] [NEW] Ubuntu 10.10 touchpad pointer too sensitive
Public bug reported: Running 10.10 on a Toshiba Satellite L-35. I've set the touchpad sensitivity as low as it will go, installed gpointing device and lowered that as far as it will go. The pointer still scoots around especially if my other finger is near the left click key. My computer is dual booted with Windows 7 and there is no problem on that side, so I don't think this is a hardware issue. [Bug 768340] [NEW] Wrong screen resolution for Radeon HD 6650M

Here is the relevant line from lspci: 02:00.0 VGA Compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Device 6741 Of course, I'm a little confused why that says "6741" when the specs are that this is supposed to be a "6650M". Wait. This is expired without being fixed and tested? I personally wasn't saying anything because I was presuming that no word from the developers meant that this has not been fixed yet. I will recheck this on Lucid later today. But since I haven't seen a fix explicitly stated, I object to this "Expired" status. Rock on! I am typing this from Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 3 running on a "live stick". I have tested wireless and wired on the exact same hardware and both work out-of-the-box (figuratively speaking, of course). Thank you, folks! Thank you very much that worked perfectly. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get update Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue. If so please set the bug's status to Invalid. I am reviewing a list of bugs and notice the last activity on this was on 2008-09-23. [Bug 426582] Re: (32MB) certain windows drawn garbled when XAA is used
I am experiencing this bug on karmic with ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 Graphics Controller on a Dell C640. I have problems with the OSD- notifications and with System Monitor. I have not been able to run Xorg -configure because there is a lock file /tmp/.X0-lock that I can't seem to work around. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 426582 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/426582 I have a Dell C640 with an ATI Radeon 7500 and it has this same issue, I have to turn off all effects otherwise the system freezes. This bug has become a moot point for me. My cable company now requires me to have a cable box. kdetv no longer works for me and I will not be able to test any fixes.
