[Bug 1600599] Re: Thermald is totally broken, or its default configuration is
Copy this on MacBook Pro, thermald 1.5. Took forever to figure out that thermald was the culprit. Unfortunately, thermald does not report its throttling activity to syslog on a default Mint 18.1 install, so there was nothing pointing in its direction. I don't want to stir up the debate about whether or not thermald's behaviour is right or not (perhaps there really are people who prefer a slow system over one that has its fans running), but at least it would have been nice if it thermald would inform users that it is crippling CPU speed. Then I would have simply disabled it immediately. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600599 Title: Thermald is totally broken, or its default configuration is To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thermald/+bug/1600599/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 222192] Re: Distorted sound after upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy
The problem which I experienced on the Thinkpad t60 seems to be unrelated: it used to have the hardware volume controls linked to the software volume controls, which produced the distortion. Now that a recent update disabled this connection (and keeps the software volume at the same level when pressing the hardware volume buttons), the distortion also seems to be gone for me. -- Distorted sound after upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 247808] [NEW] [needs-packaging] modglue
Public bug reported: Modglue is a C++ library with classes for forking external processes and asynchronous reading from streams. It takes away the burden of all subtleties involving the Unix fork call. The asynchronous read facility enables one to read on multiple input streams at the same time, without losing any of the standard C++ stream facilities. URL: http://www.aei.mpg.de/~peekas/cadabra License: GPL Notes: This library and the associated tools are generically useful, but right now the intent to package is mainly to because it is required for the cadabra program. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: needs-packaging -- [needs-packaging] modglue https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247808 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 247809] [NEW] [needs-packaging] cadabra
Public bug reported: Cadabra is a computer algebra system designed specifically for the solution of problems encountered in field theory. [Bug 222302] Re: iwl3945 can't set parameters for ad-hoc network
Confirmed for Thinkpad t60 with iwl3945 version 1.2.25. In the rare cases that it does work, no other machine is able to connect to the ad-hoc network. This worked fine with ipw3945 in Dapper. [Bug 53184] Re: toggling show desktop setting fails
The show_desktop flag works (on Hardy) when a nautilus window is open. It's still perhaps a bit confusing. It would help if there was a preferences setting for 'show desktop' which would fire up nautilus if necessary (presumably this logic does not belong to gconf-editor). -- toggling show desktop setting fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53184 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 197222] Re: [8.04] wired and wireless networks are both selected
One further addition: once networkmanager gets to this state, selecting 'connection information' shows IP/broadcast/subnet/defaultroute/DNS all in 0.0.0.0 state (which is obviously incorrect since the wireless connection still works fine). -- [8.04] wired and wireless networks are both selected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197222 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 197222] Re: [8.04] wired and wireless networks are both selected
I can confirm behaviour like this (with the iwl driver). I only connect to wireless networks. Yet, from time to time, the signal strength icon switches to a two computer wired icon, the menu shows wired connection selected (but grayed out) and also shows the connection to my wireless network selected. [Bug 49442] Re: gpm refuses to suspend to ram after some time
Yes, this problem is still there. It's tricky since it only occurs on one machine (all other Dapper machines work fine, but they have different hardware too, so it may be a driver issue somewhere which triggers a bug in gpm). In any case, I'm attaching a gpm log file in case that helps the debugging process. It contains some **WARNING** lines which perhaps help to pin down what's going on. I can't see anything very useful in the daemon.log (with hald output), but I'll attach that too. -- gpm refuses to suspend to ram after some time https://launchpad.net/bugs/49442 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 53984] hal cannot obtain list of devices
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal On my Fujitsu P7010, it regularly (but unpredictably) happens that hal fails to obtain the list of devices. I notice this because networkmanager stops working correctly and the machine does not want to go to sleep anymore (neither by closing the lid nor by doing it manually: since hal cannot figure out whether my machine can sleep, the option disappears from the quit dialog). When this situation occurs, a lshal gives me no output but a single error message, stating that it cannot obtain the list of devices. To make this even more bizarre: _sometimes_, after a while, lshal responds with the device list again, after which the whole system works again as normal. It happens more often, though, that I have to reboot the machine to get it back to a usable state. I _really_ would like to get this fixed, and am willing to do debugging on this side, but I have no idea where to start. [Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
I tried this workaround, but it does not work for me. To be precise, I tried: resume from suspend, then switch to an unused console, log in and do 'startx -- :1'. That indeed presents me with an X session which has a working touchpad scroll. However, switching back to the original X session, I still do not have the scroll features back. [Bug 49442] gpm refuses to suspend to ram after some time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager After a fresh boot, suspending my laptop works fine (by closing the lid or by choosing suspend from the logout menu). However, after some time (I haven't yet been able to determine which actions triggers this problem), gnome-power-manager does not recognise anymore that I have allowed the machine to suspend. Closing the lid does nothing anymore, and when I choose 'logout' from the menu there is no option anymore to suspend the machine. Killing g-p-m and calling /etc/acpi/sleep.sh by hand still works, and the machine still wakes up fine after that, so it is definitely a g-p-m problem.
