[Bug 1893277] Re: please provide an evince mailcap file
Contrary to the original bug report, it looks like in fact /etc/mailcap.order also affects entries originating from /usr/share/applications, as long as the first field matches the name of the .desktop file (minus the .desktop extension). So, if you add the line org.gnome.Evince:application/pdf into mailcap.order and run update-mime, you will have evince as the default handler for application/pdf files. In any case, even if we may have personal prefernces, evince is probably a more sensible default choice for viewing pdf's than gimp, so something should be done to fix this. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #935426 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=935426 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893277 Title: please provide an evince mailcap file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1893277/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1716357] Re: a typo in evince-previewer.desktop breaks /etc/mailcap
Please observe that this bug causes all lines in /etc/mailcap after the broken line to be skipped. Therefore it also prevents other mime type files from being opened by the intended application. [Bug 864739] Re: Ubuntu doesn't work on HP Elitebook 8560w
Mine (comment #14) has an NVIDIA Quadro 2000M Graphics Card, and BIOS version F.03. It does not boot out of the box with maverick and later. I realise that it has not been mentioned yet in this bug that with the 10.04 LTS default kernel on this computer, the network adapters do not work (even the ethernet one) and the display runs at low resolution. The 2.6.38 kernel (linux-image-generic-lts-backport-natty) makes the network adapters work, but requires the nouveau.modeset=0 boot parameter. The ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates PPA adds proper support for the graphics card. [Bug 252570] [NEW] Problem viewing attachments in Openoffice: soffice wrapper calls oosplash.bin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org-common As Tanguy Ortolo [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=471167: All the OpenOffice.org end-user programs (openoffice, soffice, oowriter...) call /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin, or /usr/lib/openoffice/program/oosplash.bin if it exists and is executable. The latter, oosplash.bin, detaches itself from the calling process, that ends silently, while OpenOffice.org continues to run as a child of init. This can be a problem when opening attachements from an email reader. Some mail readers will save the attachement to a temporary file and spawn OpenOffice.org to open it. As OpenOffice.org returns almost immediatly, the reader can think it has been closed, and delete the temporary file. Then, when OpenOffice.org has ended to start, it cannot find the file it has been asked to open. The wrapper causing this is /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice from the package openoffice.org-common.
