[Bug 214938] [NEW] Add support for a FullText extension to the build

[Bug 153051] Re: sqlite version mismatch causes problems in Evolution backend

2007-10-23 Thread Kevin Kubasik
Ok, a complete list of changes in the said patch

r3921:
- Beagleclient API was changed earlier but corresponding libbeagle C
api was not changed. This patch adds the change. Without this patch
any app using libbeagle to send data to IndexingService backend will
not be able to do so, there would be lots of bogus error messages
instead of the correct error message
- Fix for http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417880 (libbeagle
does not find beagle directory for nfs mounted home dir).
Kerry/deskbar would not work when home directory is on nfs.
- Make libbeagle work for non-english locale users. Use the correct
decimal separator instead of ..

r3925:
- Fix for http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393456 (incorrect
checking of prefixes while adding additional subdirectories in
beagle-settings). Without this, users would not be able to add
/tmp/abc and /tmp/abcde as subdirectories to index in beagle-settings.
Also fixes launchpad #115370.

r3929:
- Fix a file descriptor leak in word filter. Patch correctly closes
the file descriptor.

r3931:
- Make index on battery configuration option default to false.

r3935:
- Update japanese translation (not sure if this is critical, I have left it in
for the moment, since if we do push an update it has no risk of regression,
however it is easily removed)

r3981:
- Fix a xdgmimecache.c bug which calls into public code, causes a
refresh of the in-memory cache, and accesses the just-freed memory.
Part of novell bug #326808 and bugs.freedesktop.org #12512. This fix
was subsequently accepted upstream in xdgmime (but xdgmime is source
included in beagle, which means we need the patched copy). This bug
could cause trouble during building static indexes.

r4033:
- Fix some spec-compliance issues with the .desktop files. Fix for
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481726

r4053:
- When user switches from sqlite-2 to sqlite-3, the evolutionmail
backend will produce endless error messages because of the
incompatibility between sqlite. Fix for
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/beagle/+bug/153051

r4056:
- Sometimes beagle might crash at shutdown. Catches that exceptional case.

r4057 (this was already added to Gutsy)

r4060:
- If evolution mail folders have : in their name, the evolution mail
backend will create an incorrect sqlite connection string, leading to
failure. Fixes this problem.

[Bug 147627] Re: gtk+ file open dialog insists on using (and launches) trackerd even if beagled is running

2007-10-19 Thread Kevin Kubasik
This is really more of a bug with tracker/gtkfilechooser. Because
tracker was chosen as the default for Ubuntu, its obviously preferred by
gtkfilechooser (if for some dumb reason both are present) however,
either tracker doesn't give a means to check if its running, or the
gtkfilechooser patch doesn't implement it. The problem is if
gtkfilechooser can open the library, then it will try to use tracker. I
was able to remove the warning by moving libtracker.so files to a backup
folder (they should be /usr/lib.

Can you please confirm that after wiping your index this is still an

[Bug 149979] Re: libbeagle should be compiled with python support

2007-10-12 Thread Kevin Kubasik
Ok, some quick bug research has gotten me some messy and frustrating
results. This issue has already been raised with the deskbar packagers,
who basically said 'its recommended, they should figure it out' I might
try to track down a desktop team person this afternoon on IRC and see if
thats really the policy for something like this, however, a good short-
term solution is I will (hopefully mon or tues when my net is installed)
roll a new beagle package that depends on python-beagle, so anyone
seriously thinking about/wanting to use the plugin will already have it.

Of course, a more permanent/real solution would be convincing someone at
deskbar to add it as a dependency.

While opera is a great phone browser, getting to these pages is a major
PITA, so even a new bug (doing a nice description) would be helpful,
sorry its not something I can do until my roomates stop being stingy
bums (jk) and investigating every ISP in SLC. (or just being informed
consumers).

[Bug 134197] Re: Monodevelop 0.15 Released - Please Package

2007-09-24 Thread Kevin Kubasik
Yeah, well, the Ubuntu PPA deal makes build testing for amd64 much
easier, but the killer (at least for me) is just availablitiy. No matter
what really happens, I can test an i386 build, full, thanks to
virtualization. It doesn't matter if im having problems with the current
build of Gutsy, I can just fire up a vmware instance. I would be willing
to help with a community repo for monodevelop (I use it quite a bit ;) )
but the problem is testing, I just don't have the time. If there is a
major push or interest, get in touch with me, I'll roll a Monodevelop
0.15 package and push builds to somewhere public, preferably so people
can start testing and help me with that.

Anyways, just a random little brainfart ;)

[Bug 3197] Re: AbiWord grammar checker does not get installed

2007-09-10 Thread Kevin Kubasik
Obviously the patch I uploaded before is outdated, but given the lack of
someone to talk to about this, I'm not very inclined to put the time and
effort into making another patch just to have it bitrot again. If
someone can track down the abiword maintainer and get them to share
their opinion (at least, why it hasn't been packaged yet) or promise to
at least look at a patch if one is written, then I would be more than
willing to patch-magic this again.

[Bug 117734] Re: Beagle doesn't index F-Spot tags

2007-09-07 Thread Kevin Kubasik
hey, this is an odd (ish) bug, as its a problem with tracking the f-spot

f-spot is using sqlite and beagle was built with sqlite3 (like they

[Bug 137702] UVF Exception - Monodoc 1.2.5

2007-09-06 Thread Kevin Kubasik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: monodoc

No major changes were made to the Monodoc codebase for the 1.2.5
release, however, the monodoc package must be built against the latest
mono sources to have up to date documentation. As a result, we depend on
the latest mono release (1.2.5) and bump the version numbers.

[Bug 134341] Re: beagle ftbfs

2007-09-05 Thread Kevin Kubasik
I understand we are in an upstream freeze, however the changes in this
are all bugfixes, no feature additions. In addition, the gutsy branch
has significant cleanups to the debian directory, mostly in preparation
for the new Beagle 0.3 release which marks a plethora of new features.
(and as a result, new sub-packages).

Attached is the debdiff. A list of known upstream changes:

NOTABLE CHANGES BETWEEN 0.2.17 AND 0.2.18
-

* Build and run against evolution-sharp 0.13.3.

* No longer recrawl directories if we can't set up an inotify watch.
This fixes the looping bug of death when the screensaver kicks in.

* Greatly improve indexing overhead with the beagle-build-index tool.

* Display a warning in the log if the number of inotify watches runs
 out.

* Fix a problem in which beagle-search wouldn't work after a daemon
 restart. [bgo #463803]

* Fix a bug in which processing large numbers of maildir files could
cause beagled to run out of file descriptors. [bgo #466891]

* Add support for the ~/.liferea_1.2 directory to the Liferea
 backend. [bgo #426573]

* Add support for PDF keywords, and allow colons in PDF metadata.
 [bgo #463003]

* Ignore legal.xml files in the Docbook filter, since they're largely
 content-less and frequently duplicated.

* Fix the SQL used to retrieve tag information from the Digikam DB.
 [bgo #454656]

* Improve error reporting throughout.

Full set of changes:
http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/beagle/tags/BEAGLE_0_2_18/ChangeLog?view=markup

A list of debian modifications can be found in debian/changelog, or the
branch commit log.
