[Bug 1046507] Re: brcmsmac produces lots of warnings and reduced network bandwidth on macbook air

2013-03-25 Thread Khalid Aziz
With the patch I had posted earlier, ieee80211 phy0: brcms_ops_config:
Error setting power_level error messages have disappeared completely.
It also caused the frequency of ieee80211 phy0: brcms_c_prec_enq_head:
No where to go, prec == 4 messages to drop significantly, until last
night when dmesg was suddenly flooded with these messages (one every 2
seconds). Network connection stopped working at this point.
Disconnecting from AP and reconnecting fixed the problem. So, the
problem is not solved fully yet.

[Bug 1046507] Re: brcmsmac produces lots of warnings and reduced network bandwidth on macbook air

2013-03-18 Thread Khalid Aziz
I was seeing similar issues with brcmsmac driver on my HP Slate 500 with
3.5.0-25-generic kernel. I was seeing lots of messages like - ieee80211
phy0: brcms_ops_config: Error setting power_level, and ieee80211 phy0:
brcms_c_prec_enq_head: No where to go, prec == 4. My network connection
was slow and system would freeze for a couple of second from time to
time. All these problems were resolved with the attached upstream patch.
After building a 3.5.0-25-generic kernel patched with this patch, I am
no longer seeing these error message or any slowdowns.

Can you test that kernel and confirm it resolves this bug? If it does,
I'll submit a Quantal SRU request.

I tested this kernel on my tablet and yes, it does resolve this bug.

[Bug 1066480] Re: 12.10 installer don't show encrypted partitions

2012-11-09 Thread Khalid Aziz
Workaround in the release notes for this bug does not work. After
installation, when I boot the system up, it never asks for a passphrase
to unlock the encrypted volume. init script waits for root device and
finally gives up dropping me into initramfs. Last error messages are:

Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
 - Boot args (cat .
.
ALERT! /dev/mapper/concerto-root does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

Also, cat /proc/modules shows dm_crypt is not loaded when it drops into
shell.
