[Bug 1877889] Re: Intermittent hangs on boot Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo E595
Yes, it is an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (Picasso) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877889 Title: Intermittent hangs on boot Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo E595 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1877889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1877889] Re: Intermittent hangs on boot Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo E595
Setting the kernel parameter iommu=soft seems to solve this problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877889 Title: Intermittent hangs on boot Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo E595 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1877889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1877889] Re: Intermittent hangs on boot Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo E595
I am now able to reproduce this behaviour. Booting to blackscreen (after LUKS encryption) only occurs with an unplugged power adapter and NOT with a plugged one. With Ubuntu 18.04.5 (Kernel is the same 5.4.0-56, but complaining about missing amdgpu renoir drivers) the problem in my tests did NEVER occur. But the boot process with an unplugged power adapter is way more slower than with a plugged one. I have absolutely no clue about this behaviour. boot logs are not really helpful (at least with my understanding) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877889 Title: Intermittent hangs on boot Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo E595 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1877889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1877889] Re: Intermittent hangs on boot Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo E595
Same problem here with Lenovo V15-ADA Devices. We do have about 60 laptops and nearly all show the same behaviour more or less often. The workaround that helped for me with kernel 5.4.0-54 or lesser was building the amdgpu kernel modules version 20.30. But with upgrade to kernel 5.4.0-56 this no longer works for us. By the way, this error also occurs without LUKS encryption but way less often.
[Bug 1869225] Re: nm-applet should not attempt to create system-wide WiFi connections for regular users
just found out, that when I change permissions in keyfile (e.g. for specific vpn connection) from all (empty string) to specific user, the password prompt does not open up and connection will be established -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1869225 Title: nm-applet should not attempt to create system-wide WiFi connections for regular users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1869225/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1869225] Re: nm-applet should not attempt to create system-wide WiFi connections for regular users
Same is true for activating configured vpn connections. nm-applet asks for admin password and if you cancel that popup the connection is nonetheless established -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1869225 Title: nm-applet should not attempt to create system-wide WiFi connections for regular users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1869225/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
