[Bug 606928] Re: intel 5300 abgn not work on maverick
I reported this upstream http://bugzilla.intellinuxwireless.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2260. I then I had a *lengthy* discussion on #linux-wireless on IRC. To summ it up for you: 1.) It works if you build from lastet souce (see http://linuxwireless.org/) and then remove /etc/modprobe.d/intel-5300-iwlagn-disable11n.conf 2.) There seems to be a bug in the lastest source so do NOT use the driver-select script. 3.) The driver might still have some minor performance degradations compared to 10.04. [Bug 420678] Re: [karmic] Intel WiFi Link 5300 sometimes not working on 5 GHz
@chielchiel: No I think not. I am using 2.6.32-23 + the backports package and 2.4 and 5 GHz 802.11n both work. However the iwlagn driver has never been very stable when I used various versions during the past 18 months. When one bug is fixed another one emerges (e.g. Bug #352228). Also my Ubuntu now sometimes crashes when there is an unencrypted AP in reach (could not track this down yet). Why am I still using Intel wifi if it is so bad? 1. My thinkpad has a BIOS check that only permits using Intel cards so I would have to patch my BIOS to switch. 2. There is not a big range of 5 GHz capable cards for mini pcie to begin with. 3. I have the same "ERROR: No TX rate available." issue on my Intel 5300 on Ubuntu Karmic. I am using a NETGEAR AP. I'd like to add that I also have serious speed problems: In 802.11g the speed is sometimes limited to ~100kb/s even when I am right next to the AP. ifup and ifdown on the interface helps. [Bug 459967] [NEW] scripts called on ac power or battery power fail (power.d)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pm-utils I want a script to be executed when my laptop is connected to AC and another one when it runs on battery. For the beginning it should just do On AC: echo max_performance | tee /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy On battery: echo min_power | tee /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy I decided to create two scripts in /etc/laptop-mode/batt-stop/ and /etc/laptop-mode/batt-start but they where sometimes executed and sometimes not. I thought this is strange, maybe laptop-mode-tools is buggy and I investigated an alternative approach. There are two files in /etc/acpi/events/ : ac and battery both call /etc/acpi/power.sh which in return calls pm-powersave man powersave tells me there are two directories /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/ and /etc/pm/power.d/ the later has priority but was empty on my installation, so I went to /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/ I created my own file here, called my-powersave /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/ lsl total 28K drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2009-10-24 20:34 . drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4,0K 2009-10-21 05:34 .. -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1,4K 2009-10-06 23:41 95hdparm-apm -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 646 2009-09-17 21:33 anacron -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 293 2009-10-07 01:02 laptop-mode -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 248 2009-10-24 20:36 my-powersave -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 693 2009-10-06 23:41 sched-powersave This worked, BUT again the sata link sometimes stayed at max_performance in battery power. It worked most of the time if you have not done anything when removing the power and it hardly ever worked when you disconnect and reconnect in short 5 second intervals. I think there is an underlying bug in pm-utils or acpi. [Bug 457846] [NEW] Flash audio stutters on video collaboration websites
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Flash audio stutters on video collaboration websites How to reproduce: Start Firefox 3.5.3 go to http://tinychat.com enter any chatroom with a live video stream In the "sound preference dialog" in the "applications" tab there are some ALSA plug-in [firefox] entries, of which the last one flickers as the sound stutters. If you switch the device profile, in the in the "hardware" section of the "sound preference" dialog, to some other setting and then switch back, the stuttering disappears for a few seconds. Opera 9.64 for Linux has the same issue. However on Windows the firefox works fine. I also tried to work arround this bug by starting firefox with OSS: FIREFOX_DSP="aoss" firefox or aoss firefox but that approach seems to be outdated and did not work. I have a 64bit installation. [Bug 194489] Re: ps2 synaptics touchpad causing huge amounts of wakeups
Thank you for this clarification. I am not familiar with the synaptics driver source code or device specs, but I know that at least with usb mice there is a mouse polling interval. Most so called gaming mice come with a high polling frequency with 500Hz, while laptop mice usually have a much lower frequency by default. However I remember you can override the polling frequency manually at least in Windows. I doubt that anybody needs such a huge interrupt frequency on a laptop touchpad. Is there now way to adjust the polling interval in the driver? If it can't be done in software is it perhaps feasible to contact the laptop manufacturer for an updated BIOS? (Lenovo in my case) Or is it really hardwired in the device itself. -- ps2 synaptics touchpad causing huge amounts of wakeups https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194489 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
