[Bug 297540] Re: CD/DVD media can' be read

2009-09-03 Thread Lance Stuetzle
This problem would occur with ASUS Quiet Track DVD RW drives purchased in China.
(Sorry I can't provide the actual model number)
I found this problem on two PC's, and have since switched to a Pioneer DVD
RW with no more desktop mounting problems with Ubuntu Jaunty.
Today I tested one of the ASUS problem drives on updated Karmic 9.10 and the
media mount problem appears to be solved!

[Bug 297540] [NEW] CD/DVD media can' be read

2008-11-13 Thread Lance Stuetzle
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.04 8.10, (32 64 bit)
CD's and DVD's periodically aren't being read (ls /media) and mounted to
desktop. This usually occurs when PC has been powered up longer than 30
minutes. Reboot always solves the problem. I've noticed this on several
different branded PC's i installed both Hardy and Intrepid too. Seems like
reboot is the only failsafe way to get Ubuntu to consistantly read the media.
