Public bug reported: HELP Just performed an upgrade from Ubuntu 19.04 to 19.10. Launched Thunderbird and the interface is empty. Okay, I tested the mainstream kernel. Same behavior between 3.7.0-030700rc1 (upstream), 3.5.0-17 (Quantal) and 3.2.0-32 (Precise) : computer is silent, and then the fan goes strongly, and then silence, and fan ... an so on. Like if there was no intermediate fan speed. Even in the login page without doing anything. I am thinking about reinstalling Precise, but I begin to wonder if my hardware has a problem or not. I have the same behavior between 3.7.0-030700rc1 and 3.5.0-17 : - I open a session I open a terminal and do 'uname -r' to verify which kernel I am using and I wait - the fan makes some noise - and the stops after 1 or 2 minutes - total silence during some 30secs - and the the fan comes back harder and never calms down ** Description changed: I just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 and now my laptop fan is always on, even when my CPU usage is less than 5%. Before I upgraded, when I was not using a lot of CPU, my laptop was completely silent. [Bug 1059155] [NEW] Ubuntu crashes (after resuming from sleep mode I think)
Public bug reported: Many times (3 times a week approx), ubuntu crashes. It looks like it's after resuming from sleep mode. Some minutes after or some hours later. The windows just get gray, I can move the mouse but clicks have no effect, and then after some seconds it's all freezed, mouse don't move. Sometimes when I have time to do a ctrl+alt+f1 before it totally freezes, I can see messages talking about some ATA1. I have to hard reboot pushing several seconds the start button of my keyboard. I have a flash disk hard drive (don't know if it's relevant). And sometimes, while I am doing things on the computer, the whole HD gets in read only mode. Hi, ok I see. Thanks for your answer. The problem is that the line seems to be 1px width. Which makes it very difficult to catch.
