2017-05-06 Thread Lorrin Nelson
Sounds like this have been narrowed down to changes more recent than
this, but I have tried 4.10.0-13. So far it is stable.

[Bug 1674838] Re: kernel BUG at /build/linux-7LGLH_/linux-4.10.0/include/linux/swapops.h:129

2017-05-02 Thread Lorrin Nelson
I can also confirm the Ubuntu build of 4.10.0-8 does not have the bug.

$ uname -a
Linux gooseberry 4.10.0-8-generic #10-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 13 14:04:59 UTC 2017
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ uptime
 21:14:04 up 6 days, 2 min,  1 user,  load average: 0.79, 0.62, 0.43

I was crashing daily on the Ubuntu builds of 4.10.0-19 and 4.10.0-20

I will try 4.4.0-13.

[Bug 910287] Re: ps hangs when listing root processes

2017-04-20 Thread Lorrin Nelson
I just upgraded from 16.04 (via >16.10) to 17.04 and now I'm seeing this
too. I tried the strace and observed that ps was hanging trying to list
the commandline of the thunderbird process. I had already exited
Thunderbird and there were no indications in the GUI that it was still
running. I had no luck getting rid of the process with kill -9. Also I
could not shut the machine down cleanly. I did findi a bunch of NMI
watchdog: BUG: soft lockup messages in syslog, which I'll attach to the
bug report.

[Bug 844317] Re: Killing all remaining processes... [failed]

2011-11-24 Thread Lorrin Nelson
I also have been unable to shutdown cleanly since upgrading from 11.04 to
11.10. I also get:
Killing all remaining processes... [fail]

I do have NFS mounts in my fstab but don't see messages about rpcbind.
