2018-07-23 Thread Ludwin Janvier
upstream (iio-sensor-proxy, not the kernel project) classified this bug
as "won't fix" because "Load average is not a good representation of the
CPU (or other resource) usage caused by an application."

Can someone confirm this information?

[Bug 1778482] Re: Unable to install OpenVPN on Ubuntu 18.04

2018-06-25 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Hi,

I can't reproduce this error.

Did you pass this command before:
sudo apt update

To help you, can you send here the output of this command:
sudo apt show openvpn

And the content of this file:
/etc/apt/sources.list

And the content of every file in this directory (if not empty):
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/

2018-06-25 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Public bug reported:

I have a many HP ProBook 450 G1 and HP ProBook 650 G3 with fresh install
of Ubuntu Desktop.

They all have a load average of 1.0 when idle (no graphical session
opened).

vmstat shows idle=0% and waiting=~ 100%

The process which uses most CPU time is iio-sensor-proxy (about 1%) and
it's constantly in D state (uninterruptible sleep).

Manually starting this command shows that the sensor (lis3lv02d on both
products) is constantly sending garbage informations (see attachment).

With iio-sensor-proxy service stopped, the CPU load is ~ 0%

As the service is 'static' and can not be disabled, the only workaround
is to remove the 'iios-sensor-proxy' package.

[Bug 1775896] [NEW] support for hp probook 650 wlan key [bionic][patch]

2018-06-08 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Public bug reported:

The wifi button does not work on HP ProBook 650 G1

[ 463.050201] atkbd serio0: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xf8
on isa0060/serio0).
[ 463.050205] atkbd serio0: Use 'setkeycodes e078 ' to make it known.

This lines in /lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-keyboard.hwdb actually fix it:

# ProBook 650
evdev:atkbd:dmi:bvn*:bvr*:bd*:svnHewlett-Packard*:pnHP*ProBook*650*:pvr*
 KEYBOARD_KEY_f8=wlan

Note: I assumed that the ProBook 650 g2 has the same keycode. Can't test
that.

sssd domain.

* How to fix it
Tell systemd to start cron after sssd.
File /lib/systemd/system/cron.service, section [unit], add
After=sssd.service

This patch seems to have no effect on systems with no sssd service

[Bug 1392717] [NEW] directory picker failure

2014-11-14 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Public bug reported:

Steps:
1) in a empty directory, create 2 (or more) directories with the same prefix
(e.g. '2014', '2015')
2) start a directory picker in any application that use it : nautilus, gthumb,
...
3) click on the 'Type a file name' button (the pen on the top left)
4) use the directory picker to select one of these directories ('2014')
5) you can't - there's still the prefix ('201')

screencast available here:
http://youtu.be/FxEMTHe_k1o

This bug won't happen if :
- there is a directory which doesn't share the same prefix
- you don't use the 'Type a file name' button. Once you have use it, it will be
activated for every directory chooser you start.

package update from natty-proposed (0.2.30.1_i386) is ok to me (using aptitude).
I had this weird line :
File descriptor 89 (/var/log/apt/history.log) leaked on lvs invocation. Parent
PID 32112: /bin/sh
which seems independent to this package. probably #591823.

[Bug 719318] [NEW] kcharselect crash with segfault when changing alphabet

2011-02-15 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdeutils

Steps to reproduce :
- UNINSTALL any kdeutils-dbg package (one of the *-dbg prevents to crash)
- remove any kcharselect config file from your home
mv ~/.kde/share/config/kcharselectrc ~/.kde/share/config/kcharselectrc.old
(with some configs, kcharselect won't crash)
- launch kcharserlect
LANG=C kcharselect
- Change the alphabet, by example from Basic Latin to Latin-1 supplement
At this point kcharselect will crash and kcrash will launch

[Bug 501607] Re: display limited to 800 X 600 - won't fill screen

2010-06-21 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Had the same problem with a toshiba satellite pro 4600 and lucid. I only had to
generate a fresh xorg.conf with :
sudo X -configure
sudo mv ~/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Edit this file to modify the monitor section :
Section Monitor
Identifier Configured Monitor
Option DPMS true
HorizSync 30.0-60.0
VertRefresh 50.0-70.0
EndSection

and restart X (reboot the computer).

The bug come from a too low hsync value for this (not recognized)
screen. I don't think it would be a trident-specific issue.

[Bug 584486] Re: brigthness set to 0 when switching to a graphical console

2010-05-23 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Forget to mention that I had to enable KMS due to a GPU freeze after
upgrading to karmic, using options i915 modeset=1.

I have another issue : my cursor is disappearing after closing re-
opening the lid. Have to change the VT come back to get the cursor
back.

Seems this three issues are connected, because after switching to linux-
image-2.6.34-020634-generic_2.6.34-020634_i386, it solved all this bugs
at the same time (brightness and cursor).

[Bug 535489] Re: Mount Hard Drive error message

2010-03-18 Thread Ludwin Janvier
For short, you can edit your fstab with this command:
sudo gedit /etc/fstab
or use specific editor, like pysdm.

To comment a line, just add a # at the beginning of the line. Some lines
are already commented. Search for a line containing /media/ANGGITORUAN.

To add options, modify words in the the 4th column. This column contains
words separated by commas: if you want the noauto and the user options,
your line should look like :

UUID=DC609D5E609D4066 /media/VIDEOS ntfs-3g
defaults,nosuid,nodev,locale=en_US.UTF-8,user,noauto 0 0

Remember, this table is separated by spaces, so don't insert extra
spaces or tabs.

[Bug 535489] Re: Mount Hard Drive error message

2010-03-18 Thread Ludwin Janvier
It may happen if you modified /etc/fstab with your disk mounted. In this
case, you just have to make a manual :

sudo umount /media/ANGGITORUAN

Then unplug and re-plug the hard drive. Now you should mount the disk
without typing any password nor any command.

[Bug 535489] Re: Mount Hard Drive error message

2010-03-17 Thread Ludwin Janvier
If your NTFS partitions are on a external drive, they have not to be in
your /etc/fstab. You could safely comment or remove them, and thus get
no warnings.

If you want to have this partitions to appear in your fstab, consider
using the user option (and maybe the noauto too).

Anyway, this minor issue won't affect the stability of your system
(whereas you may not use linux NTFS if you're expecting a rock solid
system).

I can't say which process added this lines in your /etc/fstab. It may be
ubiquity if you installed ubuntu having your external drive plugged in.
Can you confirm that point ?

2010-03-16 Thread Ludwin Janvier
From fdisk, invalid partition table, I think it's not the hard drive itself
which has a problem, but the partitioning / formating. You should check your
partition table with some specialized software.
On ubuntu, there's parted / gparted for a graphical frontend.
On DOS/Windows, you'll find plenty of them :
Free : ranish partition manager, testdisk, etc.
Non-free : partition magic, etc.

[Bug 538176] Re: connexion d'un ARCHOS AV 500

2010-03-16 Thread Ludwin Janvier
Après quelques recherches (je n'ai pas d'archos), il est probable que
l'archos ne laissera pas la possibilité de modifier sa table de
partition.

D'après ce forum:
http://www.jbmm.fr/forum/index.php?showtopic=15507

Bonne chance.

No problem with ISOs. I downloaded the same iso

You can check by yourself by mounting the iso as a loopback device:
sudo mkdir /mnt/disk
sudo mount ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso /mnt/disk
cd /mnt/disk
md5sum -c md5sum.txt | grep -v ok$
sudo umount /mnt/disk

I get no error. Burning the iso should not change this result. You
probably have an hardware issue (try another disk burner/reader).

Using aptitude, I could totally get rid of mono, I'll only have f-spot
and tomboy which would be removed (the second is replaced by gnotes).
Ubuntu only recommands this two packages. Anybody can removed them
without breaking Ubuntu.

[Bug 522252] Re: Error when loading CD's

2010-02-18 Thread Ludwin Janvier
In order to install a game for Windows in ubuntu, you should install a
software named wine (available in the software center). Then you'll have
to open setup.exe using wine.

You can check there if your game is fully working with wine:
http://appdb.winehq.org/

I'll close this bug: reopen a new one if you experience any problem.

[Bug 518211] Re: IT8720F chip not recognized by lm-sensors

2010-02-07 Thread Ludwin Janvier
From lm-sensors releases page (http://dl.lm-sensors.org/lm-sensors/releases/) :
- karmic version is pretty old (3.0.2, 2008-05-08) and doesn't know about 0x8720
- last release of lm-sensors (3.1.2, 2010-02-02) can detect 0x8720
debian testing unstable have lm-sensors 3.1.1 (2009-06-21), which should
support 0x8720.

So this is a sync lm-sensors from debian testing request.

There's no policykit-kde package in karmic [1]. If you have one,
remove it, it might be a forgotten package from jaunty.

Weird, seems you tried to install samba4 on this server. You didn't
install some unstable packages NOT from ubuntu, did you ?

The following command should resolve your issue:
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/testparm testparm

If not, reinstall samba and samba-common-bin packages.
