[Bug 1901315] [NEW] Missing shortcuts for moving window to workspace right or left

2020-10-24 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to groovy, I can no longer move windows between
workspaces to the right or left. Both the "Move window one workspace
right" and "Move window one workspace left" commands are missing from
the list. (See attached screenshot).

[Bug 1825665] Re: Cannot set 3440x1440 resolution for HP 34C external monitor (HDMI) on ubuntu-wayland

2019-04-27 Thread Luis Arias
Hi Sebastien,

Thanks for getting back to me. It's an issue that appeared many
releases ago related to a kernel update that unfortunately has not
gotten any attention. I will try to find some data on that and post it
here.

The end user effectively cannot select the 3440x1440 resolution in
gnome-settings because it is ot present.

[Bug 1825665] [NEW] Cannot set 3440x1440 resolution for HP 34C external monitor (HDMI) on ubuntu-wayland

2019-04-20 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

On the regular Ubuntu desktop I use an .xprofile with xrandr commands
that add the monitors native resolution as follows:

xrandr --newmode "3440x1440" 196.25 3440 3600 3952 4464 1440 1443 1453 1468
-hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 "3440x1440"

Unfortunately this doesn't work under wayland and I have not yet found a
solution. I have tried several ideas including a custom edid bin file
without success.

I'm reporting against the gnome-control-center since this corresponds to
the end user experience.

and wanted to report this which is perfect. I'll switch back to the
stock linux-generic in a bit to run the same and post the output here if
that helps.

The only way to get a workable system is to move back to a 4.4 kernel. I
tried that before and still experienced some issues but trying this
latest 4.4 build.

[Bug 1633821] Re: missing resolution after upgrade to 16.10

2016-10-31 Thread Luis Arias
I seem to have been experiencing some instability due to this kernel
downgrade so I'm now back to the stock 16.10 linux-generic to see how
things hold out. Using an .xprofile file with the appropriate commands
for my HP Envy 34c:

xrandr --newmode "3440x1440_60.0" 196.25 3440 3600 3952 4464 1440 1443 1453
1468 +hsync -vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 "3440x1440_60.0"

[Bug 1633821] Re: missing resolution after upgrade to 16.10

2016-10-29 Thread Luis Arias
Downgrading to the 4.4 kernel solved this issue for me. Specifically I
installed the 4.4.28 mainline build.

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.28/

Not ideal but avoids messing around with modelines et. al. for the time
being.

[Bug 910964] Re: Cannot import photos from PTP Camera (Fuji X10)

2013-01-25 Thread Luis Arias
I don't think this has anything to do with Rhythmbox inspite of those
reports. I tried the test and there is nothing related to the issue in
~/.xsession-errors.

On the other hand, I can reproduce the issue in shotwell pretty much
every time with Rhythmbox not running and the MTP plugin disabled in any
case. gphoto2 seems to have improved since the last time I ran these
tests. I need to recharge my camera battery, but I do have a failure
condition for gphoto2 all by itself and will post to the gphoto2 bug as
soon as I can rerun a clean test. I believe the case here was when
letting gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor kick in, unmounting the camera when
the Removable Media alert appears, and then running

env LC_ALL=C gphoto2 --debug-logfile=logfile.log --debug --get-all-
thumbnails

I will follow up on this in a little while.

[Bug 1077020] Re: cloud-init ca-certs leaves a blank line in /etc/ca-certificates.conf

2013-01-09 Thread Luis Arias
Hi,

I have been trying to run a test against the package in quantal-proposed
this morning but it is not clear to me how to get cloud-init to use the
package in proposed. Adding quantal-proposed as a package source is not
working out because it comes too late in the process. The package in
proposed would have to be installed before cloud-init kicks in somehow.
If you have some tips in this area I can give it another try. Thanks!

Luis

this morning but it is not clear to me how to get cloud-init to use the
package in proposed. Adding quantal-proposed as a package source is not
working out because it comes too late in the process. The package in
proposed would have to be installed before cloud-init kicks in somehow.
If you have some tips in this area I can give it another try. Thanks!

Luis

Nice ! Didn't know you could control cloud-init with such precision.
I'll give it a try on my setup and post back.

[Bug 1077020] [NEW] cloud-init ca-certs leaves a blank line in /etc/ca-certificates.conf

2012-11-09 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

Using a cloud-init yaml file adding a certificate like this:

ca-certs:

2012-10-28 Thread Luis Arias
I have this same error in dmesg on a Dell Inspiron 15z with a fresh
quantal install. I tried the 3.7-rc2-racing kernel but it only boots
with acpi=off. With the regular quantal 3.5 kernel its possible after a
number of retries to boot with acpi=noirq. Booting with acpi=off does
not allow testing this bug. I'll mark this bug as Confirmed with the
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream tag.

Ok finally found a stable boot configuration with acpi=noirq and
i915.semaphores=1 on the 3.7-rc2-racing kernel. This config does not
display this issue. Tagging kernel-fixed-upstream

[Bug 932640] [NEW] Display preferences app no longer detects external monitor after today's update

2012-02-15 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

Before today's update, I could use an exernal monitor plugged into the
mini display port (intel card) of my Inspiron xps 15z. Now after
today's update the display preferences applet doesn't detect the
external monitor and clicking on Detect Displays doesn't help. I tried
rebooting on the previous (3.0.0-15) kernel version and the problem
remained so I think its due to a compiz update.

Here is the list of updated packages from /var/log/apt/history.log:

2012-02-15 Thread Luis Arias
Same thing in metacity and actually in terminal mode after doing Alt-F1
so this seems to have nothing to do with compiz. However looking at the
list of upgraded packages I'm a bit stumped at what could have such a
low level effect.

I just tried rebooting without the quiet and splash kernel parameters
and I got my external monitor back! Will do some more reboot tests
later just to make sure this is what had an effect.

[Bug 910964] Re: Cannot import photos from PTP Camera (Fuji X10)

2012-01-03 Thread Luis Arias
After some investagation it seems this is really an issue in libgphoto2
since it can be reproduced entirely with gphoto2 command line. Please
see the linked bug report for more info.

[Bug 910964] [NEW] Cannot import photos from PTP Camera (Fuji X10)

2012-01-02 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

Import results in a long wait and a popup stating:

Shotwell
Unable to lock camera: Unspecified error (-1)

At this point the camera is in a dysfunctional state because running

[Bug 910964] Re: Cannot import photos from PTP Camera (Fuji X10)

2012-01-02 Thread Luis Arias
As an update to this, I disabled the gphoto2 gvfs backend by running

sudo chmod -x /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor

to isolate issues to shotwell / libgphoto2. What I get is that the
issue persists and actually trying to run an import is not necessary,
its enough to just click on the USB PTP Camera item and let shotwell
display the photo previews to then have a PTP I/O Error be signaled by

gphoto2 --list-files

The camera is at this point in an unusable state.

I'll update the yorba redmine report with this info.

[Bug 574740] Re: No sound on YouTube only in Chromium (Firefox works fine)

2010-05-29 Thread Luis Arias
chromium is adding a huge number of ALSA plugin [chromium-browser]
entries in the Applications tab of the Sound Preferences app. So many
that the window overflows available screen space by a long margin. It
does this even with all plugins disabled. It seems to me that something
is failing in the way it connects to pulseaudio and it is retrying, but
at the same time leaving failed attempts active.

I finally got mic input back on 2.6.31-14 (I hadn't noticed I didn't

setting Mic Jack to Mic In and Digital Input Source to Digital

Hopefully this will withstand a reboot. Sound input was fine on

[Bug 389958] Re: libcurl3 causes https file upload to fail in flash player 10

Hi, it may be hard to find a public site that uploads with ssl. I
personally noticed the problem on our mybalsamiq.com site which is ssl
only but is currently in private beta. I can send an invite to a

installed and not installed and you can see the difference. Please let

[Bug 389958] [NEW] libcurl3 causes https file upload to fail in flash player 10

2009-06-20 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

Contrary to reports mentioned in this post on Adobe's jira:

(See http://www.pavlasek.sk/devel/?p=10)

Flash Player 10 will successfully upload using Flex's
FileReference.upload method on http and https on firefox in a clean
jaunty installation. I recently came across a systematic failure of
this method on https on my personal jaunty installation and tracked it
down to having installed curl (and thus dependent package libcurl3).

If libcurl3 is installed on top of a clean jaunty installation file
upload will fail on https. The reason seems to have something to do
with invalid handling of TLSV1 with libcurl3 installed since I saw an
error in wireshark with a TLS frame being returned stating Fatal,
Unexpected Message. I suspect a difference in implementation between
OpenSSL and / Gnu TLS. Flash player in firefox / linux makes its own
http or https connections instead of going through the browser when
doing file upload.

[Bug 291789] [NEW] Groovy and Grails support is missing

2008-10-31 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

Gedit would be more useful as a lightweight IDE to develop web
applications using the Grails framework - http://grails.org - if
gtksourceview supported .groovy and .gsp file syntax. I found a set of
language files here

http://henyoonline.blogspot.com/2008/07/setting-up-gedit-for-groovy-and-

which I would like to include in the package as a learning experience.
I have worked on packaging issues like updating dependencies but have
yet to actually have to patch something.

mime.xml and gsp-mime.xml language files included in shared-mime-info.

The author of this blog has kindly provided these files which I will
also attach to this issue.

2008-08-09 Thread Luis Arias
This should be the last one in the series ! ;)

Fixed (Closes LP: ...) in changelog and removed libbsf-java runtime
dependency as per LP: #239906

groovy (1.5.6-1ubuntu1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Update Build-Depends-Indep to default-jdk and Depends to default-jre

  * Fix trailing javadoc output after clean stops pbuilder from building source

  * Modify Maintainer value to match the DebianMaintainerField

  * Remove libbsf-java Depends, groovy supplies a bsf engine impl enabling
use of groovy as a bsf script, but doesn't require bsf at runtime

[Bug 113039] libhunspell 1.1.1-5 / 1.1.4-7 incompatibility in gutsy

2007-05-07 Thread Luis Arias
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org2

The new thunderbird and firefox packages in gutsy depend on libhunspell
= 1.1.5-1, however upgrading these packages will cause writer to core
dump. Downgrading to 1.1.4-7 solves the problem but can also create
other problems such as core dumping in thunderbird if as you type spell
checking is enabled.

** Affects: openoffice.org2-amd64 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed

Re: [Bug 3687] Re: totem plays file but not stream

2006-10-08 Thread Luis Arias
Hi Sebastien,

I can confirm that works fine in Edgy with totem gstreamer, so you can
probably close this bug.

Thanks,
Luis
