[Bug 1773484] Re: Login screen not moved to used monitor
The issue of the Bug description is the most important, because it will affect most of users. This issue has no link to the i-tec adapter issue, it is also visible when the adapter is not connected. I remember that the situation now (on Ubuntu 18.04) is compareable with the situation on Ubuntu 12.04 (maybe also 14.04). [Bug 1773484] Re: Login screen not moved to used monitor
Question 1) Monitor is plugged in on standard VGA connector (15 pin D-Sub). I guess it does not matter which monitor type. I have done it with a Ilyama ProLite G2773HS and a Samsung Syncmaster S24B350 monitor. As soon as the monitors are configured, for example the external monitor as replacement for the built in LCD-display of a notebook, the system detects this configuration next time automatically and is switching to the proper monitor configuration, also for the login-screen. This behavior is fine, but does not help the first time, when no configuration was done (or it falls back to the starting situation). Question 2) I am using the P/N: U3DUALADA (barcode D16-00352296). Question 3) As HDMI monitor I am using the Samsung Syncmaster S24B35 Question 4) Using the i-tec adapter for the additional Samsung Syncmaster S24B350 monitor was working without any problems on Ubuntu 16.04. On Ubuntu 18.04 monitor configuration is not automatically detected. As work-arround I open the configuration->devices->displays dialog. If this dialog is open and I reconnect the i-tec adapter, the system offers now configuration possibilities. This must be done every time the adpater is connected to the system. A second minor problem when using this adapter is a mouse flickering effect. When mouse icon changes, it mouse icon disappears completely for a short time. When disconnecting the adapter system finds back to the default monitor situation without problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773484 Title: Login screen not moved to used monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1773484/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I also checked it with 'find /usr -type f -name *.xml | xargs grep *.odt'. No result, but odt types are detected - why? So it seems that working principle of mime has changed from Ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10, but I was not able to find any more information in detail. Also some official packages are effected. For example, if you install geda and create a geda-schematic file you cannot start the geda- schematic tool by clicking the file. In Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 it works fine. ** Affects: geda (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: geda.bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424176/+attachment/4323927/+files/geda.bug -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424176 Title: mime support in Ubuntu14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/geda/+bug/1424176/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1317039] [NEW] GRUB2 GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 not working when other OS found
Public bug reported: After updating Ubuntu 12.04.4 (amd64) hiding of GRUB2 menu not longer works. The menu always appears for 10s. Reson found in /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ... adjust_timeout () { if [ x${found_other_os} != x ]; then cat EOF set timeout_style=menu if [ \${timeout} = 0 ]; then set timeout=10 fi ... if another OS is found, the /etc/default/grub entry GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 is ignored because set to 0 in function adjust_timeout() In my point of view this is a bug, because it's not longer possible to hide grub2 menu if another OS is detected on the host. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1317039 Title: GRUB2 GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 not working when other OS found To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1317039/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 810977] Re: slapd remove/reinstall fails
Dave, I try to reproduce this bug in a clean natty environment (new installed in a virtualbox) and I wasn't able to reproduce this bug, like you. So I go back to my normal PC, where the bug is still alive and I try some additional things. I see the message Omitting slapd configuration as requested. which is a different behavior to the first install-procedure where a dialog comes up and asking for a LDAP-Password. For my feeling, the problem is caused by some initial configuration on the LDAP database. This behavior is new compared with lucid 10.04. I am not sure if this is really a step forward, because configuration of a LDAP database is a very complicate issue and in my point of view it should not be done by a installing script. I will do some further investigations. Two questions: 1) Do you know the cause for the change of install behavior (automatic omitting slapd configuration...) 2) How I can increase the parameter MaxReports for AppReports in case of app-get install fails... Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/810977 Title: slapd remove/reinstall fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/810977/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 810977] Re: slapd remove/reinstall fails
Ok, I have found a work-arround to transfer slapd into a working state. This is not solution of this problem, but it helps to bring slapd back into a running state and so you can continue with openLDAP on your machine. At first you need an additional cleen machine, I name it MC (for machine clean). You can install this machine for example in a virtualbox. MC ... clean machine ME ... machine with the slapd install error 1) on ME: execute apt-get remove slapd 2) on ME: remove manually the directories /var/lib/ldap and /etc/ldap 3) on MC: execute apt-get install slapd ldap-utils 4) on MC: stop the slapd process with service slapd stop 5) on MC: transfer with rsync the directories /var/lib/ldap and /etc/ldap to the maschine ME (make sure, that owner/group and access flags are not modified) 6) on ME: execute apt-get install slapd ldap-utils Now the installation sricpt of package slapd runs to end without any problems. Removement and reinstallatione of package slapd works without problems, but there is no dialog for configuration (as it is in the very first install). To change configuration: 1) stop the slapd process with service slapd stop 2) remove actual slapd.d with rm -r /etc/ldap/slapd.d 3) execute dpkg-reconfigure slapd Afterwards you will find a new /etc/ldap/slapd.d So far as good, installation script for package slapd isn't bug-free otherwise I would not have these problems. For me it's interesting to know: 1) where is the configuration info stored (because the dialog starts up only one time in the very beginning) 2) why does the dpkg-ceconfiguration fail if /etc/lapd/slapd.d is existing My recommendation to package authors. Don't do any ldap configuration in the installing phase. Only check while package removement or package installation if there is a ldap configuratin/database available, and in this case offer the option to use/remove or mover the old configuration/database. If user selects a complete removement everything after reinstallation should be like after a very first install.
