[Bug 1143846] [NEW] shim should always be used on UEFI Systems

2013-03-04 Thread Marcus Moeller
Public bug reported:

On an UEFI System, shim should always be used as a first stage loader,
no matter if secure boot is enabled or not.

This would allow the user to enable or disable SecureBoot on demand and
would still lead to a bootable system.

Current situation:

Wenn you install ubuntu 12.10 on a system where SecureBoot is disabled
and enable it afterwards, it would not boot, complaining about an
unsigned loader. This happens as grub seems to be booted directly
instead of using shim

Right now, the global menu and the action buttons are hidden after a

productivity, too as I have to 'guess' where a menu entry is before I

[Bug 933305] Re: Panel buttons have dark text on dark bg (GNOME fallback / Ambiance theme)

2012-03-15 Thread Marcus Moeller
If the bright white window buttons should be the fix, this is a bit
unsatisfying. The panel button design in general should be fit the rest
of the theme.

This is now the case for radiance, but not for ambiance.

For reference the layout should minic the old GNOME 2 Ambiance design.

Also the start menu text is a bit to dark and should fit the color of
the rest of the menu items.

[Bug 839690] Re: Topbar - window controls for maximised windows in the top bar should conform to Fitts's law

2012-01-26 Thread Marcus Moeller
This misbehavior is still not fixed in the Ubuntu 12.04 daily from
20120126.

As mentioned before, it should be possible to push the mouse into the
upper left edge and click to close a maximized window. Right now you
have to focus the close button exactly.

@Paul Sladen: i guess you got it wrong, it's not that just moving the
mouse to the upper left corner should release a window close, but moving
it to the upper left corner AND clicking.

[Bug 917144] [NEW] Other ... option is missing

2012-01-16 Thread Marcus Moeller
Public bug reported:

I have tested the latest version of LightDM from:

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/+archive/ppa

and noticed that the 'Other ...' option is no longer available. This is
necessary to e.g. allow login of LDAP users.

For those, the wallpaper preview also might not work, at least as long
as they do not have local home directories.

[Bug 754000] Re: Running Unity disables Xorg's 3-finger click support (middle click)

2012-01-07 Thread Marcus Moeller
I have installed the package from http://packages.debian.org/squeeze-
backports/i386/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/download which does not
contain the Unity MT Grab handles patch. This makes 3 finger tapping to
middle click work again.

So please, remove these patches or modify them to three finger hold
instead of three finger tap for Love Handle activation.

Same on an ASUS UX31e. Multitouch now works in 3.2-rc7 but the tap-to-
touch sensitifity has changed (taps are not always recognized as clicks
anymore) and touchpad buttons do no longer work.

[Bug 144085] Charset is not set correctly in VGA text-mode

2007-09-22 Thread Marcus Moeller
Public bug reported:

The charset (and special characters) are not displayed correctly in VGA
text-mode while usplash is running. There was a bug report #21567 in
which Michael Vogt already described the problem.:

'The kernel just refuses it in drivers/char/vt.c:con_font_set(). But that seems
to be because the vga text-mode uses parts of it's video memory to store the
fontmap. That can't work when in graphic mode obviously. I don't know why the
kernel doesn't store the fontmap for the next switch to text-mode. It looks
like
it keeps a copy in kernel memory anyway'

This bug still exists in Feisty. As the vga text-mode is currently still
the default mode in Ubuntu, it should affect nearly everybody until
he/she changes the console screen mode.

[Bug 95011] feisty patch

2007-06-15 Thread Marcus Moeller
I have backported the current git release from gutsy and the maximize /
minimize / close effekt is gone, but therefor after a re-login apps like
gnome-terminal are displayed with empty content.

Also gnome-compiz-manager needs to get an update as a gconf value type
has changed.

[Bug 95011] Re: erratical titlebar behaviour

2007-06-15 Thread Marcus Moeller
If you disable the Maximize Effect from wobbly settings, the problem
occours again. The worst thing is that the window close button sometimes
does not close the 'top' window but a 'lower' one. This way I lost a few
eMails I was writing. Right now I am closing windows using the close
function on the windowlist :/

[Bug 119608] gnome-terminal and compiz / minimize and maximize behaviour

2007-06-09 Thread Marcus Moeller
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I am using gnome-terminal 2.18.0 on ubuntu Feisty 7.04 and have a
strange issue while running compiz with metacity.

If I maximize the application to full screen I can then no longer
minimize it. The titlebar color turns to inactive, too.

I have noticed this issue on several different machines and with
different graphic cards (nvidia and intel)
