[Bug 1834771] Re: No HDMI-audio after kernel 4.15.-0.50
I have the same issue on 16.04, but it appears my kernels are WAY behind what you guys have - 4.4.0-170-generic. Anyway, for those who don't want to mess with kerls changes or blanket system updates yet, I found a feasible workaround that works for me: https://gist.github.com/bassmanitram/495fd35b76083f0c4a79777b8ab470fd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1834771 Title: No HDMI-audio after kernel 4.15.-0.50 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1834771/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1300722] Re: hud-service is eating up 100% of one of my CPUs in a poll loop
This is obviously long past the most recent thread activity, but just in case people fall on this page, I had this problem, as well as with evince-thumbnailer. It turned out to be a permissions problem in my home folder tree. It probably came from some activity I had undertaken while sudoed - my bad, of course. [Bug 780030] Re: Eee PC 1001 hangs on boot after 10.10 - 11.04 upgrade
Fully up to date on BIOS and natty-updates but it still hangs. But I have vastly narrowed it down. If I disable WLAN in the bios, the stock kernel boots fine. [Bug 621722] Re: Coherence and Rhythmbox UPNP not seeing media server
OK, I think I see the problem - it's a painful painful route to get there, but the basic thing I believe (not knowing anything really about UPNP) is that the MediaServerClient object built to talk to my server never sees the last_updated fields of those services being anything but None. That field gets set (and a Coherence.UPnP.DeviceClient.Service.notified signal sent, which triggers the checking code in MediaServerClient) by the code around line 320 in service.py - but THAT code only gets called when the relevant service receives an update event from the server. My server seems to be fairly unchatty and doesn't send an update when not necessary. The Service objects associated with my server do, already, have the info necessary to be considered complete on initialization - SO copying the code at lines 316 to 321 down to after 370 (just after the Coherence.UPnP.Service.detection_completed signal is sent) appears to solve the issue - I can now see the server and its content in Rythmbox. HOWEVER I am not a UPNP expert and the complete lack of doc and comments in the code makes it very tough to be sure that this is the correct fix - I'd appreciate an experts eye on the matter. -- Coherence and Rhythmbox UPNP not seeing media server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 621722] [NEW] Coherence and Rhytmn box UPNP not seeing media server
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 10.04 fully patched. UPNP/AV server on 192.168.1.1 - which is also my ISP-provided router. VLC: sees it perfectly - if the server is active when VLC starts, VLC displays it. If it deactivates while VLC is running VLC delists it, if it restarts while VLC is running, VLC lists it again. All media is browsable and playable - perfect behavior. Coherence uPNP inspector: If the media server is up when the inspector starts, the inspector lists it. If it deactivates while the inspector is running, the inspector delists it. BUT if the media server is then brought back UP, the inspector DOES NOT RE-LIST IT (even when rediscover devices in the file menu is selected). However if the media server is down when the inspector is started and then is started, the inspector DOES add it correctly. When the server is seen by the inspector, the inspector can correctly browse its contents. Rhythmbox just plain never sees the media server at all (and I checked in the device addition signal handler - it never receives notification that a device is there under any circumstances), although it CAN see a mediatomb server on another PC in the home network. I conclude that there is a small bug in coherence itself, or the inspector - whereby a server that deactivates and then reactivates is not being successfully re-added. And there is a more significant bug in the Rhythmbox plugin whereby it is never being notified of the existence of a server on 192.168.1.1. Of course Rhythmbox has its own issues concerning the listing of tracks from UPNP media servers such as mediatomb - but that is dealt with in another bug report. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: coherence rhythmbox upnp -- Coherence and Rhytmn box UPNP not seeing media server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 621722] Re: Coherence and Rhytmn box UPNP not seeing media server
djmount also successfully sees the server if it is up when djmount starts, or if it starts after djmount starts, but djmount reacts badly to the server being brought down while djmount is up. When it sees the server, nautilus can quite happily browse the server content and play it. The point is that, despite this latter bug in djmount, it SEES the server perfectly well - so whatever is happening with Rhythmbox, it is not the server that is the problem, nor is it an issue with routing tables or firewall configurations or the such. -- Coherence and Rhytmn box UPNP not seeing media server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Omer - that is the most developer-blinkered response I think I have EVER read - and I'm a 30-year-experienced techie developer. Jonathan hit most of the points, but I have to readdress the there's a key comment of yours. Yes there IS a key, and there is a perfectly simple API that YOU, as the developer, already use to ACCESS that key - so it wouldn't actually take very much to add a preference that SETS that key. In fact, if there IS a user-focused-option like that, then why NOT provide a preference, otherwise its almost pointless making it an option at all. Re: [Bug 107093] Re: System freezes (possibly Gecko)
I think its a different problem - with the system freeze that I am referring to, and others I believe, ctrl-alt-backspace doesn't work either, and there is a wild amount of IO occurring on the hard drive (the /home partition in my case). The only solution is a reset-button reboot. There are various reports of FF freezing itself and maybe the X server, but not the system, when the flash plugin is being used. I've not had that problem. For other readers - still no system freeze after the cache-clear. [Bug 107093] Re: System freezes (possibly Gecko)
Having had the same problem in - ahem - Mandriva 2007.1, FF 2.0.0.3 - with Firefox running, the system freezes quicker and quicker - I examined this and other reports and, just for kicks, cleared the FF cache (before FF had done its nasty), and set it to clear after every close of FF. I haven't had a freeze since! I THINK (though I have no documentary evidence to support this - only circumstantial) that the cache got corrupted when my over zealous son got impatient and killed FF while it was closing - THEN FF screwed up its own cache more and more as it went through the reboot, restart FF, freeze cycle. At the time of each freeze there was TONS of IO activity going on which turned out to be on the /home partition - evidence for THAT being that the /home partition was the one with lots of orphan inodes cleared at the restart.
