[Bug 465468] Re: bluetoothd dies with undefined symbol: sdp_uuid_cmp
Just had the same problem with natty amd64. I fixed it by rebuilding bluez: # apt-get build-dep bluez # apt-get source bluez # cd bluez-* # fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us # cd .. dpkg -i *.deb Interestingly, the installation complained that I downgraded from 1:4.39-0ubuntu2 zu 4.91-0ubuntu1. The epoch aside, this was a big version leap (4.39 to 4.91). So obviously I had installed 3rd-party packages before, which interfered with natty's bluetooth packages. ** Changed in: bluez (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/465468 Title: bluetoothd dies with undefined symbol: sdp_uuid_cmp -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 91389] Re: Support for more than one VPN simultaneously
I do not think begging or asking here has any siginificant effect. Adding such a feature is surely more than a little bug fix, so it is not beyond the focus of the Ubuntu team or Canonical, but rather that of upstream. By the way, VPN connectivity is not necessarily part of any desktop OS besides GNU/Linux or *BSD, for most VPNs (OpenVPN, IPSec, Cisco Anyconnect, Cisco VPN, Nortel, Contivity,...), users of closed-source systems have to download and install 3rd-party software. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/91389 Title: Support for more than one VPN simultaneously -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 630432] Re: cpuidle in linux-image-2.6.35-19-generic crashes kernel on boot
Hi! I tested the upstream kernel (2.6.36-rc3). When I enable cpuidle, the kernel freezes on boot without a message. When I disable it, the system runs fine. Same for the Ubuntu -generic kernel: 2.6.35-17 (with CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE=m) boots fine, 2.6.35-19 (with CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE=y) freezes on boot. with INTEL_IDLE, the system freezes hard (not even the magic SysRq keys work), so I cannot provide any logs. When I boot without quiet splash, I also see no error message that could help. If I can provide anything else that helps, just ask. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- cpuidle in linux-image-2.6.35-19-generic crashes kernel on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 623153] Re: Auto-hiding gnome panel does no appear when application is on fullscreen
My netbook has very little screen space (1024x600), so I have to make use of every pixel. So I let my panel hide automatically (gives me ca. 24 pixel) and I use the fullscreen (F11) option e.g. of Firefox to get rid of the title bar. (Before you mention it: the nebook launcher currently seems to be broken in maverick, and it also is not flexible enough for me) I see your argument, I would distinguish between a make-maximal-use-of- the-screen kind of fullscreen (e.g. Firefox, Terminator) and a presentational fullscreen (OOo Impress presentation, video playback, games). The former should allow display of the panel, the latter should not. A simple solution would be to add a checkbox to the panel properties, whether to unhide the panel when the currently active application is in fullscreen mode. ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- Auto-hiding gnome panel does no appear when application is on fullscreen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/623153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 538256] Re: Screen brightness not controllable on Lenovo Ideapad S10-3 and U350
Hi! I don't yet feel ready to install the development version of Ubuntu on my netbook (I usually do this ca. 2-3 months before release date). The issue is still present in Lucid. I am currently running Kernel 2.6.34 directly from kernel.org (built using make-kpkg), and the xorg- edgers X.Org packages, and I am still unable to control the brightness using the hotkeys (the setpci command still works). If someone could explain how the brightness changes are supposed to happen (Which components are involved, e.g. Kernel/KMS, DDX, xorg- server, ACPI stuff,...), I would be happy to dig a little deeper. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- Screen brightness not controllable on Lenovo Ideapad S10-3 and U350 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/538256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 485397] Re: External USB disk does not spin down after unmounting
Yes, right-click + safely remove spins down the disk (and removes it from the list), clicking the Eject icon does not. After clicking the Eject icon, the volume stays in the list. Afterwards, I can still right-click to safely remove, which then spins down the disk. IMHO the best behaviour would be to spin down the disk when the last partition gets unmounted, but to keep it in the list. If the user decides to mount a partition afterwards, the disk could surely spin up again. In dmesg, I saw multiple kernel oopses like this: [25072.170633] iwlagn :03:00.0: Can not allocate SKB buffers [25072.170647] iwlagn :03:00.0: Can not allocate SKB buffers [25072.376602] iwlagn :03:00.0: Can not allocate SKB buffers [25072.376609] iwlagn :03:00.0: Can not allocate SKB buffers [25072.386446] iwlagn :03:00.0: Can not allocate SKB buffers [25072.477843] iwlagn :03:00.0: Can not allocate SKB buffers [25072.477862] iwlagn :03:00.0: Can not allocate SKB buffers [25073.911465] __ratelimit: 34 callbacks suppressed [25073.911469] swapper: page allocation failure. order:2, mode:0x4020 [25073.911471] Pid: 0, comm: swapper Tainted: G C 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu [25073.911474] Call Trace: [25073.911475] IRQ [810e083c] __alloc_pages_slowpath+0x4cc/0x4e0 [25073.911486] [810e099e] __alloc_pages_nodemask+0x14e/0x150 [25073.911490] [8dfa] kmalloc_large_node+0x5a/0xb0 [25073.911493] [81115fa5] __kmalloc_node_track_caller+0x135/0x180 [25073.911513] [a0240899] ? iwl_rx_allocate+0x1a9/0x230 [iwlcore] [25073.911517] [8142e41b] __alloc_skb+0x7b/0x180 [25073.911525] [a0240899] iwl_rx_allocate+0x1a9/0x230 [iwlcore] [25073.911529] [81284790] ? swiotlb_map_page+0x0/0x120 [25073.911537] [a0241c36] iwl_rx_replenish_now+0x16/0x30 [iwlcore] [25073.911545] [a02724ba] iwl_rx_handle+0x24a/0x2f0 [iwlagn] [25073.911551] [a0272ad8] iwl_irq_tasklet+0x138/0x480 [iwlagn] [25073.911555] [8107c29b] ? hrtimer_get_next_event+0xbb/0xf0 [25073.911558] [81063ee0] tasklet_action+0xd0/0xe0 [25073.911566] [a023c28f] ? iwl_isr_ict+0x10f/0x1a0 [iwlcore] [25073.911569] [8106549d] __do_softirq+0xbd/0x200 [25073.911573] [810131ec] call_softirq+0x1c/0x30 [25073.911575] [81014bc5] do_softirq+0x55/0x90 [25073.911578] [81065205] irq_exit+0x85/0x90 [25073.911580] [81014100] do_IRQ+0x70/0xe0 [25073.911584] [81012a13] ret_from_intr+0x0/0x11 [25073.911585] EOI [81087503] ? tick_nohz_restart_sched_tick+0x63/0x100 [25073.911591] [810874de] ? tick_nohz_restart_sched_tick+0x3e/0x100 [25073.911594] [81010e4d] ? cpu_idle+0xed/0x100 [25073.911598] [81514c56] ? rest_init+0x66/0x70 [25073.911602] [8183a047] ? start_kernel+0x352/0x35b [25073.911605] [8183959a] ? x86_64_start_reservations+0x125/0x129 [25073.911608] [81839698] ? x86_64_start_kernel+0xfa/0x109 [25073.911610] Mem-Info: [25073.911611] Node 0 DMA per-cpu: [25073.911614] CPU0: hi:0, btch: 1 usd: 0 [25073.911615] CPU1: hi:0, btch: 1 usd: 0 [25073.911617] Node 0 DMA32 per-cpu: [25073.911619] CPU0: hi: 186, btch: 31 usd: 46 [25073.911621] CPU1: hi: 186, btch: 31 usd: 119 [25073.911622] Node 0 Normal per-cpu: [25073.911624] CPU0: hi: 186, btch: 31 usd: 28 [25073.911626] CPU1: hi: 186, btch: 31 usd: 73 [25073.911629] Active_anon:345571 active_file:64911 inactive_anon:166906 [25073.911630] inactive_file:146468 unevictable:155 dirty:128311 writeback:377 unstable:0 [25073.911631] free:192463 slab:26404 mapped:23469 pagetables:7370 bounce:0 [25073.911633] Node 0 DMA free:15616kB min:28kB low:32kB high:40kB active_anon:0kB inactive_anon:0kB active_file:12kB inactive_file:120kB unevictable:0kB present:15336kB pages_scanned:0 all_unreclaimable? no [25073.911638] lowmem_reserve[]: 0 2958 3905 3905 [25073.911642] Node 0 DMA32 free:751956kB min:6044kB low:7552kB high:9064kB active_anon:1101640kB inactive_anon:342788kB active_file:182488kB inactive_file:454392kB unevictable:592kB present:3029636kB pages_scanned:33 all_unreclaimable? no [25073.911647] lowmem_reserve[]: 0 0 946 946 [25073.911650] Node 0 Normal free:2280kB min:1932kB low:2412kB high:2896kB active_anon:280644kB inactive_anon:324836kB active_file:77144kB inactive_file:131360kB unevictable:28kB present:969600kB pages_scanned:132 all_unreclaimable? no [25073.911655] lowmem_reserve[]: 0 0 0 0 [25073.911658] Node 0 DMA: 4*4kB 2*8kB 4*16kB 4*32kB 5*64kB 0*128kB 3*256kB 2*512kB 3*1024kB 3*2048kB 1*4096kB = 15648kB [25073.911666] Node 0 DMA32: 127229*4kB 30316*8kB 0*16kB 0*32kB 0*64kB 0*128kB 2*256kB 0*512kB 0*1024kB 0*2048kB 0*4096kB = 751956kB [25073.911674] Node 0 Normal: 492*4kB 19*8kB 0*16kB 1*32kB 0*64kB 1*128kB 0*256kB 0*512kB 0*1024kB 0*2048kB 0*4096kB = 2280kB [25073.911682] 320074 total pagecache pages [25073.911684] 2792 pages in swap cache [25073.911686] Swap cache stats: add 16055, delete 13263, find 1653/2087 [25073.911687] Free
[Bug 485357] Re: Kernel oops in swapper with iwlagn
Note: The copy operation was from the wired network, wireless was just on because NM does not turn it off when on a wired network. So the wireless connection should have had almost no traffic for several hours before the incident. -- Kernel oops in swapper with iwlagn https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/485357 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 485397] [NEW] External USB disk does not spin down after unmounting
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: devicekit-disks I have a Western Digital MyPassport 2,5 USB Hard drive. On Windows and MacOS X, the OS spins down the disk after unmounting/ejecting. On Ubuntu (current Karmic amd64), the disk stays up after unmounting, and does an emergency retract (The momentum of the spindle is fed back into the voice coil to force the heads to the landing zone). This wears off the mechanics much faster than a normal safe poweroff. Ubuntu should issue something like hdparm -Y if a disk is prepared for safe removal. ** Affects: devicekit-disks (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- External USB disk does not spin down after unmounting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/485397 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 284212] Re: VPN connection fails: unable to find valid VPN secrets (auth dialog crash when secrets exist)
@unggnu: I use the OpenVPN plugin on karmic i386 (including karmic- proposed), and I still see the problem. I click on an OpenVPN connection, and the notification immediately pops up with a message that the vpn service could not be started. Sometimes it helps to try again several times, or to try again after a few minutes. Then the connection works fine. Smells like some race condition or timeout. -- VPN connection fails: unable to find valid VPN secrets (auth dialog crash when secrets exist) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284212 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 221009] Re: Firefox keeps forcing disk to spin up when browsing because its sqlite storage calls fsync() for every recorded entry
Marking this as affecting firefox-3.5, as I, too, see this on karmic with Firefox 3.5. As several people wrote that it affects them, I set it to confirmed right away. ** Also affects: firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Firefox keeps forcing disk to spin up when browsing because its sqlite storage calls fsync() for every recorded entry https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221009 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 399436] Re: Error OAFIID:GNOME_TSClientApplet while adding the applet onto panel
Yes, I just upgraded my work laptop to 9.10, and it's still there, making the tsclient applet basically useless. As it seems to be only a typo in a patch, and AFAIK no packages depend on tsclient, would't this be a candidate for a SRU? -- Error OAFIID:GNOME_TSClientApplet while adding the applet onto panel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399436 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
