[Bug 1726548] Re: Windows resized after resume

2019-12-10 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
This was affecting me both when resuming from suspend, as well as when
resuming from lock screen. I'm running a Dell XPS 13 9370 under Ubuntu
19.10, with two UHD displays connected via a dock. I wasn't necessarily
seeing screen resizing so much as anything on a secondary screen was
being closed.

After calling `gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor
1`, everything works normally for both resume and unlock operations, and
all windows previously in use are still present.

Still observing this on 14.04, and first observed starting in 13.10. I'm
not using an encrypted filesystem.

[Bug 523533] Re: SD card mounts as read-only

2010-04-16 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
I'm still on Karmic. lspci reports my card reader as:

15:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ba)
15:00.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 04)
15:00.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host
Adapter (rev 21)
15:00.3 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C843 MMC Host Controller (rev ff)
15:00.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter
(rev 11)
15:00.5 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev 11)

The card maps to /dev/mmcblk1, with a partition at /dev/mmcblk1p1. As
soon as I add the card, I get the following messages in dmesg:

[2355534.252903] mmcblk0: mmc0:a90b SD256 243 MiB (ro)
[2355534.253021] mmcblk0: p1

Note the (ro) -- the kernel is reporting the card as read-only.

I have verified that the lock switch is disabled, and that I get the
same behavior regardless of its setting.

[Bug 469520] Re: sound-juicer fails on rip with Segmentation fault

2009-11-11 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
I've tried with ogg, flac, and mp3 ripping, and with two different
gstreamer settings for mp3; regardless, I get the same issue, exactly as
reported by the OP.

[Bug 340328] Re: [i965] X (and gnome session) crashes after suspend and resume

2009-05-27 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
That was indeed the key -- I had some other garbage per the ubuntu
forums post. Removing it and enabling tiling now has my ThinkPad
correctly resuming.

So, I can confirm that the Xorg edgers PPA kernel and xorg packages
resolve these issues for me.

[Bug 340328] Re: [i965] X (and gnome session) crashes after suspend and resume

2009-05-27 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
Tobias, I'm using that PPA already -- though I need to verify that I'm
using the xserver-xorg-video-intel driver (I assume I am, as I now have
compositing, but need to verify).

Can you give your xorg.conf? I'm wondering if there are settings that
are causing the issues.

[Bug 369606] Re: Computer wakes up to GDM from sleep. Session is not recovered

2009-05-27 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
I have a ThinkPad T61, and have also followed the instructions in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1130582 -- primarily so I could
get X compositing working. Sleep works fine -- resume does not. My
pulseaudio logs show no issues with sleep or resume, but my GDM logs
terminate with the following:

I830PMEvent: Capability change
Dropping master
X: ../../src/i830_batchbuffer.h:78: intel_batch_emit_dword: Assertion
`pI830->batch_ptr != ((void *)0)' failed.

2008-10-23 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
I can verify the same mis-behavior on a Lenovo T61. I've defined a
mouse-wheel.fdi for HAL, and on boot, all works as expected. However,
after resuming from suspend or hibernate, scroll functionality no longer
works.

[Bug 139226] Re: ipod doesn't appear in banshee

2008-09-03 Thread Matthew Weier O'Phinney
I compiled Banshee 1.2.1 today, but still no luck. iPod support *is*
enabled (all options are enabled), but the iPod still is not recognized.

My iPod is a 4g 40G windows-formatted iPod (one of the HP branded ones),
marked as "Version 3.1.1". Amarok is able to detect it when I point
amarok to the mount point, and I've successfully synced to and from that
program; in fact, I had no problems prior to version 1.0 of Banshee.

Compiling Banshee from source does not install podsleuth, so I'm not
sure if podsleuth is working currently; in previous attempts with >=
1.0, it threw an exception when detecting the year.

I have used both podsleuth from ubuntu as well as the source distro
linked elsewhere in the comments here. In both cases, I get output like
the above from Sanchola; as a result, Banshee is unable to find my
device.

My exact output:
