[Bug 1257820] [NEW] skype PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC workaround not working for the commandline

2013-12-04 Thread Matthias Braun
Public bug reported:

Skype needs to have the PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC environment variable set to work
correctly on newer ubuntus. This is already done by the skype package by
modifying the skype.desktop file:
...
Exec=env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 skype %U
...

Unfortunately this does not help users starting skype from the
commandline. It would be better if you could find a solution that also
works for commandline users (or users of desktop environments that do
not look at the .desktop files).

[Bug 1248578] Re: Adding printer from commandline does not work anymore after upgrade to 13.10

2013-11-07 Thread Matthias Braun
I've just seen that the changes of upstream cups 1.7.0 contain:
The lpadmin command did not send the PPD name from the -m option
(rdar://problem/15264697) this might be this bug. Unfortunately I wasn't
able to build packages with 1.7.0 to test this (always had test failuers after
building).

[Bug 1248578] [NEW] Adding printer from commandline does not work anymore after upgrade to 13.10

2013-11-06 Thread Matthias Braun
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 13.10 I can't add printers from the commandline. For example
when I use the following command as root:

lpadmin -p i44hpneu -m drv:///hpcups.drv/hp-laserjet_4250-pcl3.ppd -D
xxx -L xxx -E -v socket://my-printer-url

Then the printer i44hpneu is created but it does not work. Another
symptom is that no /etc/cups/ppd/i44hpneu.ppd file is created. The
model/driver is listed in lpinfo -m, so the printer-driver-hpcups
package appears to have installed correctly. Adding printers from the
GUI or the cups webpage is working. Ubuntu version 13.04 and earlier
work too.

(I'm mainting around 20 linux PCs so automating printer installation
from the commandline is a very convenient tool as I can prepare scripts
to do all the setup).

[Bug 1133664] [NEW] anacron is started before ldap user accounts are accessible

2013-02-26 Thread Matthias Braun
Public bug reported:

Having @reboot for users provided by ldap via sssd do not work, as their
account is only listed in the passwd database after sssd startup has
finished. Currently anacron reports something like cron[1029]:
(username) ORPHAN (no passwd entry).

[Bug 584183] Re: Evolution crashes almost randomly

2010-06-17 Thread Matthias Braun
I had the same issue. After some updates in the last weeks.
At least for me it seemed like evolution always crashed when it wanted to ask
me for a password.
So after checking my gnome-keyring configuration (some stuff in these
Session/Start-Applications) settings were disabled for me. And I had an extra
entry in /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring.desktop.dpkg-bak.
Anyway my crashs are gone now so unfortunately I can't create a backtrace or
valgrind dump. I'm also not sure which of my steps exactly made it working
again.
