[Bug 411407] [NEW] Volume is never muted using hotkeys but set to 14%

2009-08-10 Thread Matthijs De Smedt
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 9.04 on an intel laptop, with Intel HDA as sound chip.

My problem is very simple:

If I press mute on my keyboard the volume is set at 14% instead of being
muted. If I lower the volume using my keyboard it also bottoms out at
14%. Toggling mute by checking it in Gnome's volume control applet does
work.

[Bug 150733] [gutsy] Nautilus does not show 'free space' on removable drives

2007-10-08 Thread Matthijs De Smedt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Somewhere in the past two weeks Nautilus stopped showing me the 'free
space remaining' information in the status bar for my removable drives.

Nautilus shows 'N items, free space:' on CIFS and a local ext3 partition.
It does NOT show 'free space' in the status bar on two removable usb drives
formatted to XFS and FAT32.

I am sure Nautilus was showing this information two weeks ago. It does
show up in the properties window for the removable drive.

Not sure if Kristian speaks about the change on

 SVN since this one

Then I don't think SVN HEAD has the fix as found by Joe Barnett. Which

[Bug 137138] Re: [Gutsy] mythfrontend crashes on video playback

2007-09-06 Thread Matthijs De Smedt
However, now my crashing occurs even when I choose No Effects.
Not identical to my problem then.

I don't think I was clear - it doesn't happen when you do things *outside*
 of compiz?
Well, I'm not sure what you mean. mythfrontend runs fine -except- when I enable
desktop effects and I start mythfrontend. If I set desktop effects to 'no
effects' mythfrontend works perfectly. All other applications work fine
regardless of effects being enabled or disabled.

Does this answer your question?

The steps to reproduce are simple on my machine:
* Enable desktop effects (normal or extra)
* Start mythfrontend
* X (or nvidia-glx?) crashes
* I see the nvidia splash screen, and then the Ubuntu login screen

[Bug 128232] Re: Eclipse SEGFAULTs in libgtk-x11: gtk_tooltips_set_tip()

2007-09-05 Thread Matthijs De Smedt
I have patched (Joe Barnett's patch) and compiled libgtk+2.0
2.11.6-1ubuntu4 myself from source
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/source/gtk+2.0). Attached is the
resulting libgtk-x11-2.0.so binary.

If you want to run Eclipse normally (for the time being) I STRONGLY
recommend you to get the latest Eclipse Europa packages from eclipse.org

If, like me, you have to run an older version of Eclipse, you can try my
patched lib. It works for me, but obviously I cannot guarantee it'll
work for you. Don't blame me if you can't boot into Gnome anymore.

To install:
sudo rm /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1106.0-matthijs
/usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0

To uninstall:
sudo rm /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0

Synaptic shows the same thing. I have:
linux-generic 2.6.22.10.11
linux-image-2.6.22-20-generic 2.6.22.10.30
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-10-generic 2.6.22-10.23 (now manually upgraded to
.24)

According to syntaptic and aptitude, these are the latest versions. I
have everything checked in software sources except commercial and
backports. This setup was done from a Tribe 5 CD. Is everybody else
getting newer packages from the gutsy tree?

[Bug 134146] Re: Intel HDA sound broken on kernel 2.6.22-10.30

2007-08-31 Thread Matthijs De Smedt
Ah. Obviously completely unrelated to this bug. nl.archive.ubuntu.com is
far from up to date. When the 170mb of updates are finished I'll check
if hda-intel is also working properly on my asus laptop. Thanks for your
patience.

[Bug 117314] Re: latest kernel(2.6.20-16.28) update gives boot problems

2007-06-04 Thread Matthijs de Smedt
I also had problems with 2.6.20-16.28, the same Loading hardware
drivers message.

When I saw some people were experimenting with irqpoll, I immediately
thought about PNP. I disabled Plug Play OS in my BIOS, and poof,
2.6.20-16 boots fine. If you still have problems, please try this and
report your experience.

[Bug 117314] Re: latest kernel(2.6.20-16.28) update gives boot problems

2007-06-04 Thread Matthijs de Smedt
A little addendum. Booting normally works sometimes without irqpoll, and
as far as I can see with irqpoll it works always.

[Bug 25031] Re: CIFS mount does not update file size for opened (for read) files

2007-05-30 Thread Matthijs de Smedt
Tested this in 7.04, still a problem.
I have spoken to people on the #samba channel, apparently this is a known
problem and a fix is in the works. No idea when it would migrate into the
kernel though.
