[Bug 1369113] Re: Steam game began crashing 2014-09-12 (cross-post Source bugtracker)
This may well be an issue with xserver-xorg-core 1.16, or recent xserver-xorg-video-intel. I am getting the _xgeWireToEvent: Unknown extension 148, this should never happen. log messages as well, but only when the Epiphany web browser is rendering HTML content with alpha channel 1.0. When this is happening, rendering performance degrades by orders of magnitude. If the transparent content is hidden or the page is closed, the messages stop and performance is restored. This behaviour started occurring after upgrading to xserver-xorg-core 1.16. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1369113 Title: Steam game began crashing 2014-09-12 (cross-post Source bugtracker) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/steam/+bug/1369113/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1324762] Re: [MacBookPro8, 1] Fails to boot without noefi since linux-image-3.13.0-20-generic
Okay, git bisect says this is the first offending commit: dc9c3ed611922e769b1fd595f8f99a93d69c026d is the first bad commit commit dc9c3ed611922e769b1fd595f8f99a93d69c026d Author: Borislav Petkov b...@suse.de Date: Thu Oct 31 17:25:08 2013 +0100 x86/efi: Runtime services virtual mapping BugLink: http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297658 We map the EFI regions needed for runtime services non-contiguously, with preserved alignment on virtual addresses starting from -4G down for a total max space of 64G. This way, we provide for stable runtime services addresses across kernels so that a kexec'd kernel can still use them. Thus, they're mapped in a separate pagetable so that we don't pollute the kernel namespace. Add an efi= kernel command line parameter for passing miscellaneous options and chicken bits from the command line. While at it, add a chicken bit called efi=old_map which can be used as a fallback to the old runtime services mapping method in case there's some b0rkage with a particular EFI implementation (haha, it is hard to hold up the sarcasm here...). Also, add the UEFI RT VA space to Documentation/x86/x86_64/mm.txt. [Bug 1324762] Re: [MacBookPro8, 1] Fails to boot without noefi since linux-image-3.13.0-20-generic
** Description changed: My MacBookPro 8,1 (Early 2011, 13) will not boot using any trusty kernel linux-image-3.13.0-20-generic or later. I get a grey rectangle displayed, centred, filling most of the screen, and the system hangs. When booting into rescue mode without kernel parameters quiet, splash, vt.redirect, etc., I would see something like: Loading vmlinuz-3.13.0-27-generic... Loading initrd.img-3.13.0-27-generic... Then the system hangs. When I reboot I'm dropped into the GRUB menu. To boot in EFI mode, I keep linux-image-3.13.0-19-generic around - which works fine. - WORKAROUND: Booting using kernel boot parameter noefi, however gfx and - disk performance suffers, and features such as the monitor brightness - keys fail to work altogether. + WORKAROUND: Use kernel boot parameter efi=old_map to restore booting. + The kernel parameter noefi works as well, however gfx and disk + performance suffers, and features such as the monitor brightness keys + fail to work altogether using that. [Bug 1239244] [NEW] tracker-extract causing dbus denial-of-service
Public bug reported: After log in, tracker-extract is causing a denial-of-service against the session dbus daemon by keeping many (1000+) open connections to it. The large number of connections causes the session daemon to run out of file descriptors, and hence unable to accept any new connections. This leads to the desktop becoming unresponsive and non-functional, since nearly everything uses dbus these days. A typical symptom of the problem looks like this: mjg@montbard:~ $ emacs (emacs:21035): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon: Failed to determine seats of user 1000: Too many open files When this is occurring, lsof reports the session dbus-daemon instance has 1024 FD's open - most of them being pipes, and tracker-extract in a similar situation. On killing tracker-extract, the number of dbus-daemon FDs open returns to some small sane number, and it returns to being able to accept connections again. This mainly seems to happen some time not long after log-in, so presumably tracker-extract has a dbus connection leak and tracker's initial scan-on-start is causing it to become pathological. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: tracker-extract 0.16.2-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Oct 13 11:18:57 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-06-03 (862 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Release amd64 (20110427.1) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: tracker UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-02 (10 days ago) ** Affects: tracker (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug gnome3-ppa saucy third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239244 Title: tracker-extract causing dbus denial-of-service To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker/+bug/1239244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 947544]
It's easy to reproduce using Gazebo. 1. Install Gazebo: http://gazebosim.org/wiki/1.6/install 2. Run gzserver in one terminal 3. Run gzclient in another Both processes use OpenGL, but only gzclient displays a gui. Starting gzserver will result in this error, but only occasionally. Starting gzclient will result in the error more frequently - perhaps once in every 5-10 invocations. Closing the gzclient window will also often produce the error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947544 Title: mesa SIGSEGV in brw_update_renderbuffer_surface() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/947544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1053207] [NEW] HTTPS connections fail when GNOME HTTP/HTTPS proxy config differ
Public bug reported: [From upstream bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=684418] Using the Soup GNOME features, when a HTTPS proxy is set to something that does not match the HTTP proxy, all HTTPS connections result in a SoupMessage.response_body.data being null. To reproduce: 1. apt-get install polipo (or find a proxy supporting both HTTP and HTTPS) 2. In gnome-control-center, set both HTTP and HTTPS proxy to localhost:8123 (or your proxy address) 3. Fetch https://duckduckgo.com/?q=foo using Soup w/ the GNOME feature type (Ephy 3.5.4 works here) 4. Observe the page load succeeds 5. Change the _HTTP_ proxy to be something other than the HTTPS proxy 6. Fetch https://duckduckgo.com/?q=bar 7. Observe the page load fails (in Ephy, results in a download of an empty file) Note that GProxy is returning the correct proxy address in both cases, so I assume Soup's GNOME proxy resolver is at issue here. This is occurring because the private gnome-documents library libgdprivate-1.0.so is linked against libevdocument3.so.3, however the package libevince3-3 now provides libevdocument3.so.4. [Bug 853582] Re: gnome-shell apps overlapping over wrong activities desktop
When you say Fedora does not have this bug, what exactly do you mean? a) Sending a SIGHUP to the GConf DBus service process does not reproduce this bug, or b) Upgrading a package that uses GConf does not reproduce this bug. To verify it, can you do the following on your Fedora install: 1. Verify the installed version of GConf is recent enough that it is using DBus 2. Execute `killall -HUP gconfd-2` (or whatever the GConf DBus service executable is called) then wait a while - a few seconds or up to a few minutes, then see if this bug is triggered. [Bug 853582] Re: gnome-shell apps overlapping over wrong activities desktop
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 848198 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/848198 Okay, since sending the gconf process a SIGHUP causes this for you, then it certainly is caused by Bug #848198 and should be marked as a duplicate. If, after that has been fixed and you can still reproduce this behaviour, please unduplicate it. If you read the upstream bug linked to in Bug #848198, note it is mentioned in that bug that the GConf problem arises when package upgrades ask GConf to reload itself - which explains why this gnome- shell bug is intermittent. Also, while there are patches attached to the bug that should fix the issue, they have not yet been committed. The fact Fedora does not have this problem is likely because either their packages do not signal the GConf process to reload on upgrade, they have added the patches from the upstream bug already to their packaged version of GConf, or they are not using the DBus-based version of GConf. However regardless of this, Oneiric does suffer this problem and it is caused by a bug in GConf, not gnome-shell. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 848198 Sporadic gconf error messages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/853582 Title: gnome-shell apps overlapping over wrong activities desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/853582/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 862925] Re: latest ia32 changes breaks 3d support in wine
Utilimately, this was fixed by installing the appropriate i386 versions of mesa and drm packages. [Bug 650749] Re: Rhythmbox exits without being asked to when the window is closed
It is inconsistent with document-based applications like OO.o, but is consistent with other desktop services and applications that have some sort of status/notification/indicator icon. IM, microblogging, other music players, email clients, bluetooth, the network, are all examples of this - they all remain running, even when their windows are closed. Rhythmbox itself is an example as well, except that it spontainously exits when it finally stops playing. RB's current behaviour is quite inconsistent with the behaviour of other desktop services, and as such is both surprising and annoying. -- Rhythmbox exits without being asked to when the window is closed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/650749 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 650749] [NEW] Rhythmbox exits without being asked to when the window is closed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox In Lucid, if the RB window is closed it would remain running in the background. This seems to have changed in Meerkat, sometimes it does, sometimes it does not, depending on if any music is playing, I think. This, frankly, sucks. There is a lot of state in the RB UI that does not get persisted across restarts - search box contents, current selections in the browser, the show/hide state of the Context plugin's pane. All of this is lost when RB exits. Also, startup is non-instantaenous. With a reaonably large library, I'm waiting 5-10s for RB to become usable after it starts. After which I need to reset the UI to how I prefer it, find what I wanted to listen to next, again, and then I can start playing. If I want to quit the app, I'll do Ctrl-Q. Keep your hands off my application's lifecycle otherwise, please. It's very frustrating to have it exit at what seems like at random. [Bug 650784] [NEW] epiphany UI constantly stops reponding for periods of time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: epiphany-browser Epiphany has started to periodically stop reponding to user input - the UI becomes unresponsive (page loads pause, change tabs, enter text into forms, etc.) for 2-5 seconds at a time, then starts responding for around the same time, then stops again. While it is unresponsive, the browser process is using 100% of a CPU core. When it start responding again, CPU usage drops right back off. Other applications work fine while Ephy is frozen. This starts happening after it has been running for a while but seems to get worse as time progresses, so perhaps the problem is always there but unnoticable after first starting the app. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: epiphany-browser 2.30.2-1ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Sep 29 12:43:45 2010 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: epiphany-browser ** Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- epiphany UI constantly stops reponding for periods of time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/650784 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
