[Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind
I'm experiencing the same issue. Ubuntu 24.04, mutter 46.0-1ubuntu9, gnome-shell 46.0. Affected programs - Alacritty, Terminator, Konsole (from snap). Not affected - VS Code, gnome-calculator, vivaldi. [Bug 1807155] Re: Laptop doesn't wake up from deep sleep.
Hi everyone! I'm on 19.10 now, and the things didn't improve. My laptop has a touchscreen and a G-sensor, and often upon waking from s2idle the touchpad doesn't work (while the touchscreen does), and the screen is stuck in portrait orientation. This may be caused by keeping the idle laptop in the "portrait" orientation in the backpack. The only solution I found is to completely shut the laptop down. [Bug 1071941] Re: apport-cli asks me to input localized key / letter and can't understand my answer
So many bugs in Ubuntu, and become more with every new LTS release, so the one good sulution for me is just removing all buggy components instead of testing and reporting (because nobody has time to fix it), even if Cannonical promote it as essential. No big problem really, but programs, which require input answers from user in non-latin Unicode, are not very smart programs, because: 1) problems with Unicode decoding are always possible (by developer mistake), 2) user can have problem with input of non-latin symbols by keyboard (by some other bug). Good solution is: expects answers hotkeys in latin (English) short strings (like `Да[Y]/Нет[N]:` for `Yes[Y]/No[N]:`), even you show localized message. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1071941 Title: apport-cli asks me to input localized key / letter and can't understand my answer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/1071941/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Removed trailing whitespaces: https://github.com/mikhailnov/pulseeffects/commit/30e6480bf2e9c9efe2d74ef5e72251db0b725812 Lintian should not be ran against what is on Launchpad, please run it against what is in git, because the script https://github.com/mikhailnov/pulseeffects/blob/master/debian/build-ppa.sh, which helps to automate maintaining the PPA, makes some changes before uploading to Launchpad, what leads to "source-contains-empty-directory debian/source/" "missing-debian-source-format" "hyphen-in-native-debian-changelog-version 4.6.3-1~disco1" "debian-watch-file-in-native-package" to appear in Lintian warnings. [Bug 1832059] Re: [needs-packaging] Pulseeffects for eoan
To clarify a bit, https://launchpad.net/~mikhailnov/+archive/ubuntu/pulseeffects is not maintained by upstream author, I just maintain debian/* in upstream via pull requests from https://github.com/mikhailnov/pulseeffects to https://github.com/wwmm/pulseeffects and maintain that PPA. I also build PulseAudio in PulseEffects PPA, because newer PulseAudio has some important fixes. As for Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan, it would be good to include this patch https://gitlab.com/nixtux-packaging/pulseaudio- ubuntu/blob/master/pulseaudio-12.2/debian/patches/0001-Backport-add-an- option-that-allows-rewinds-to-be-dis.patch (a backport from git master to v12.2) to fix sound crackling when changing volume level in PulseEffects (https://gitlab.com/nixtux-packaging/pulseaudio- ubuntu/blob/master/pulseaudio-12.2/debian/patches/0001-Backport-add-an- option-that-allows-rewinds-to-be-dis.patch). Public bug reported: See https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/ffnvcodec-headers/ ffmpeg -codecs 2>/dev/null | grep nvenc should show available codecs and does show on Ubuntu 18.04, I think it does not on 19.04, because ffmpeg has moved compat/nvenc to a separate git repository, and you have to explicitly enable --enable-nvenc --enable-nvdec after packaging those headers. ** Affects: ffmpeg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1810649 Title: ffmpeg 4 requires external headers for NVENC To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ffmpeg/+bug/1810649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1810517] [NEW] re-enable GhostScript in ImageMagick
Public bug reported: This security updated https://usn.ubuntu.com/3785-1/ added the following to /etc/ImageMagick-6/policy.xml This prevents from working with PDF, e.g. `convert file.pdf file.png`. It is a very common use case and is a suggested way to convert PDF to image on many websites, including ask.ubuntu.com I had to remove/comment those lines from /etc/ImageMagick-6/policy.xml to allow ImageMagick to work with PDF, otherwise it was: $ convert test1.pdf test1.png convert-im6.q16: not authorized `test1.pdf' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/412. convert-im6.q16: no images defined `test1.png' @ error/convert.c/ConvertImageCommand/3258. Can you please reenable GhostScript? I don't think that it is so insecure that so common use cases must be disabled, people, who do not read usn.ubuntu.com frequently, will not understand the error. Also, those security update disabled GhostScript on the fly; what if I used it on servers or for daily desktop tasks? [Bug 1808853] Re: Buggy WhatsApp misdetects Chromium with Ubuntu's patched useragent
Yes, I totally agree that it is not an Ubuntu problem and should not be fixed... But maybe someone will come here by this bug report. Or maybe someone has an idea how to reach WhatsApp developers. Custom useragent can be set without extensions via developer tools in "Network", see attached screenshot. Another solution is --useagent CLI, I will try to make a script to not rebuild the ubuntu package in my PPA just to allow our managers to work with WhatsApp web. I don't trust 3rd party extensions. ** Attachment added: "Change useragent in Chromium without extensions" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1808853/+attachment/5223480/+files/DeepinScreenshot_Desktop_20181207114157.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1808853 Title: Buggy WhatsApp misdetects Chromium with Ubuntu's patched useragent To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1808853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1807155] [NEW] Laptop doesn't wake up from deep sleep.
Public bug reported: While on battery power, Asus Zenbook UX461U laptop can't wake up from suspend with mem_sleep_default=deep kernel option. Apart from the power LED the laptop doesn't show any signs of operation. The keyboard backlight doesn't work. The only way out of this state is powering the laptop off by long pressing the power button. On AC power, the laptop resumes from deep sleep normally. [Bug 1409238] Re: package astromenace 1.3.2+repack-3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 139
Sure, this may be some kind of hardware issue. But not video card issue for sure, since we don't use video card (hardware/software) in any way during game data file creation (don't even init libSDL at all). [Bug 1778256] Re: [Pull request] Move apt-btrfs-snapshot to daily systemd timers, drop python2 and other changes
https://gitlab.com/nixtux-packaging/apt-btrfs- snapshot/commit/29e2864ac59e9a73f4f7359da404bb83127d5139 fixed it on Ubuntu 16.04. python3-dist-utils on 18.04 and python3-dist-utils-extra are required. Without them it may just not work or report that the system is lacking snapshot features. This fixed 'system is lacking snapshot features' error on my Ubuntu 16.04 servers and desktops -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1778256 Title: [Pull request] Move apt-btrfs-snapshot to daily systemd timers, drop python2 and other changes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-btrfs-snapshot/+bug/1778256/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
